is properly secured. A child restraint
system that is not secured is dangerous. In
a sudden stop or collision, it can become a
projectile and hit someone, causing serious
injury. When not in use, remove it from the
vehicle, put it in the trunk or at least make
sure it is securely fastened to the ISOFIX
anchors.
111)Make sure there are no seat belts or
foreign objects near or around the ISOFIX
anchor secured child restraint system. Not
following the child restraint system
manufacturer's instructions when installing
the child restraint system is dangerous. If
seat belts or a foreign object prevent the
child restraint system from being securely
attached to the ISOFIX anchors and the
child-restraint system is installed
improperly, the child restraint system could
move in a sudden stop or collision causing
serious injury or death to the child or other
occupants. When installing the child
restraint system, make sure there are no
seat belts or foreign objects near or around
the ISOFIX anchors. Always follow the child
restraint system manufacturer's

The front and side supplementary
restraint systems (SRS) include different
types of air bags.
IMPORTANT Please verify which kinds
of air bags are equipped on your
vehicle by locating the “SRS AIR BAG”
location indicators.
These indicators are visible in the area
where the air bags are installed.
The air bags are installed in the
following locations:
the steering wheel hub (driver air
bag);
the passenger dashboard (passenger
air bag);
the outer sides of the seat backs
(side air bags).
The air bag supplementary restraint
systems are designed to provide
supplementary protection in certain
situations so seat belts are always
important in the following ways.
Without seat belt usage, the air bagscannot provide adequate protection
during an accident. Seat belt usage is
necessary to:
keep the occupant from being
thrown into an inflating air bag;
reduce the possibility of injuries
during an accident that is not designed
for air bag inflation, such as roll-over or
rear impact;
reduce the possibility of injuries in
frontal, near frontal or side collisions
that are not severe enough to activate
the air bags;
reduce the possibility of being thrown
from your vehicle;
reduce the possibility of injuries to
lower body and legs during an accident
because the air bags provide no
protection to these parts of the body;
hold the driver in a position which
allows better control of the vehicle.

To engage the gears, press the clutch
pedal fully and put the gear lever into
the required position. The diagram for
gear engagement is shown on the knob
fig. 85.
Depress the clutch pedal all the way
down while shifting; then release it
slowly.
Your vehicle is equipped with a device
to prevent shifting to R (reverse) by
mistake. Push the shift lever downward
and shift to R.
If shifting to R is difficult, shift back into
neutral, release the clutch pedal, and try
again.With Parking Sensor system
When the shift lever is shifted to the R
position with the ignition switched ON,
the parking sensor system is activated
and a beep sound is heard.IMPORTANT Keep your foot off the
clutch pedal except when shifting
gears. Also, do not use the clutch to
hold the vehicle on an upgrade. Riding
the clutch will cause needless clutch
wear and damage.
IMPORTANT Do not apply any
excessive lateral force to the shift lever
when changing from 5
thto 4thgear.
This could lead to the accidental
selection of 2
ndgear, which could
result in damage to the transmission.
IMPORTANT Make sure the vehicle
comes to a complete stop before
shifting to R. Shifting to R while the
vehicle is still moving may damage the
transmission.
IMPORTANT Reverse can only be
engaged when the vehicle is completely
stationary. With the engine running, wait
at least 2 seconds with the clutch pedal
fully pressed before engaging reverse to
prevent damage to the gears and
grating.
WARNING
136)Depress the clutch pedal fully to
change gear correctly. Therefore, the floor
area underneath the pedal unit must not be
obstructed in any way. Ensure that the floor
mat is always laid flat and does not
interfere with use of the pedals.
137)Do not use sudden engine braking on
slippery road surfaces or at high speeds.
Shifting down while driving on wet, snowy,
or frozen roads, or while driving at high
speeds causes sudden engine braking,
which is dangerous. The sudden change in
tyre speed could cause the tyres to skid.
This could lead to loss of vehicle control
and an accident.
138)Always leave the shift lever in 1 or R
position and set the parking brake when
leaving the vehicle unattended. Otherwise
the vehicle could move and cause an
accident.
IMPORTANT
25)Do not drive with your hand resting on
the gear lever as the force exerted, even if
slight, could lead over time to premature

37)The front and rear tow hooks should be
used only for emergencies on the road. You
are allowed to tow the vehicle for short
distances using an appropriate device in
accordance with the highway code (a rigid
bar), to move the vehicle on the road in
readiness for towing or transport via a
breakdown vehicle. Tow hooks MUST NOT
be used to tow vehicles off the road or
where there are obstacles and/or for
towing operations using ropes or other
non-rigid devices. Respecting the above
conditions, towing must take place with
two vehicles (one towing, the other towed)
aligned as much as possible along the
same center line.EMERGENCY
TOWING
TOWING DESCRIPTION
Proper lifting and towing are necessary
to prevent damage to the vehicle.
Government and local laws must be
followed.
A towed vehicle usually should have its
drive wheels (rear wheels) off the
ground. If excessive damage or other
conditions prevent this, use wheel
dollies.
When towing with the rear wheels on
the ground, release the parking brake.
IMPORTANT Do not tow the vehicle
pointed backward with driving wheels
on the ground. This may cause internal
damage to the transmission.
IMPORTANT Do not tow with sling-type
equipment. This could damage your
vehicle. Use wheel-lift or flatbed
equipment.
If towing service is not available in an
emergency, the vehicle may be towed
with all four wheels on the ground using
the towing hook at the front of the
vehicle. Only tow the vehicle on paved
surfaces for short distances at low
speeds.Follow these instructions when towing
the vehicle with all wheels on the
ground:
shift to neutral (manual transmission),
or the N position (automatic
transmission);
switch the ignition to ACC;
release the parking brake.
NOTE Remember that power assist for
the brakes and steering will not be
available when the engine is not
running.
