Voice control
Voice commands make it possible for the driverto voice-control certain functions in the mediaplayer, a Bluetooth-connected cell phone, cli-mate system and the Volvo navigation system*.
Voice control offers convenience and enables thedriver to keep his/her hands on the steeringwheel and concentrate on driving and the trafficsituation around the vehicle.
WARNING
As the driver, you have full responsibility foroperating the vehicle safely and adhering toall applicable traffic regulations.
Input to the system is in dialog form and compri-ses commands from the driver and a verbalresponse from the system.
The voice control system uses the same micro-
phone as the Bluetooth hands-free system andsystem responses come via the infotainment sys-tem's speakers.
In certain cases, text messages are also providedin the instrument panel.
The functions are controlled using the right-sidesteering wheel keypad and settings are madefrom the center console.
System updates
The voice control system is being constantlyimproved and updates should be downloaded foroptimal functionality. See the support sitesupport.volvocars.com.

Using voice commands
The following is an introduction for using voicecommands.
Press the button on the right-side steering wheel keypad toactivate the system and initiatea voice command dialog.
Keep the following points in mind when usingvoice commands:
•When giving a command, speak at your usualspeed and in a normal tone of voice afterthe tone.
•Avoid speaking while the system is respond-ing. Commands cannot be processed duringa response.
•Avoid background noises in the cabin whenusing the system by closing the vehicle'sdoors, windows and panoramic roof* whengiving voice commands.
Voice command dialogs can be cancelled by:
•Saying "Cancel".
•By pressing and holding the button onthe right-side steering wheel keypad.
To speed up a command dialog or to skip system
responses, press the button on the right-side steering wheel keypad when the system isresponding and give your next command.

To use the voice control system, press the on the right-side steering wheel keypad and sayone of the following commands after the tone:
•"Climate": starts a command dialog andprovides examples of commands that can beused.
•"Set temperature to X degrees": sets thedesired temperature.
•"Raise temperature"/"Lowertemperature": raises/lowers the tempera-ture.
•"Sync temperature": synchronizes the tem-perature in all of the vehicle's climate zoneswith the one set for the driver's side.
•"Air on feet"/"Air on body": opens thedesired air vent.
•"Air on feet off"/"Air on body off": closesthe desired air vent.
•"Set fan to max"/"Turn off fan": changesthe blower speed to Max/Off.
•"Raise fan speed"/"Lower fan speed":raises/lowers the blower speed.
•"Turn on auto": activates automatic climatecontrol.
•"Air condition on"/"Air condition off":activates/deactivates the air conditioning.

Calibrating the compass
North America is divided into 15 magnetic zonesand the compass will need to be calibrated if thevehicle is driven from one zone to another.
To calibrate the compass:
1.Stop the vehicle in a large open area, safelyout of traffic and away from steel structuresand high-tension electrical wires.
2. Start the vehicle.
NOTE
•For best calibration results, switch off allelectrical equipment in the vehicle (climatesystem, windshield wipers, audio system, etc.) and make sure that all doors areclosed.
•Calibration may not succeed or be incor-rect if the vehicle's electrical equipment isnot switched off.
3. Using a pen, paperclip or similar object, pressand hold the button on the underside of mir-ror for approx. 3 seconds until the number ofthe current magnetic zone is displayed.

5.Wait until C is again displayed in the mirroror hold the button on the underside of mirrorfor approx. 6 seconds until C is displayed inthe mirror.
6.Drive slowly in a circle at a speed of no morethan 6 mph (10 km/h) until a direction is dis-played. This indicates that calibration is com-plete. Drive around in a circle an additionaltwo times to fine-tune the calibration.
7.Vehicles with an electrically heated wind-shield:* if C is displayed when the heatingfunction is activated, perform step 6 with theheating function on.

Climate control system
The vehicle is equipped with Electronic ClimateControl (ECC) that cools, heats, dehumidifiesand filters the air in the passenger compartment.
4-zone climate system
4-zone system climate zones
The 4-zone climate system makes it possible toset the left- and right-side temperatures sepa-rately for the front and rears seats.
All climate system settings are made from thecenter display and the buttons in the center con-sole. Settings for the rear seats can also bemade from the climate system panel on the rearside of the tunnel console.

Perceived temperature
The climate system regulates passenger com-partment temperature based on the perceivedtemperature, not on the actual one.
The selected passenger compartment tempera-ture is based on a physical perception relating tothe current ambient temperature, air flow, humid-ity, sunlight in the passenger compartment, etc.
The system's sunlight sensor monitors the side ofthe car where sunlight is entering the passengercompartment. This means that the actual tem-perature may differ between the right and leftsides of the compartment, even if the tempera-ture setting is the same for both sides.

Climate system sensors
The climate system's sensors help regulate thepassenger compartment temperature, humiditylevel, etc.
Location of the sensors
Humidity sensor: in the rearview mirror con-sole.
Ambient temperature sensor: in the pas-senger's side door mirror.
Passenger compartment temperature sen-sor: near the center console buttons.
Sunlight sensor: on the upper side of thedashboard.
NOTE
Do not cover or block the sensors with cloth-ing or other objects.
On models equipped with the optional Interior AirQuality System, there is also an air quality sensorlocated at the climate system's air intake.

Parking climate (preconditioning)
The climate in the passenger compartment canbe preconditioned and maintained, even whenthe vehicle is parked. For full functionality, thevehicle's charging cable must be connected.

Air quality
The materials used in the passenger compart-ment have been selected and designed to bepleasant and comfortable, even for people withasthma or other types of allergies.
Materials in the passenger
compartment
The materials used have been developed to helpminimize the amount of dust and make the cabineasier to keep clean.
All floor mats (including the cargo compartment)can be easily removed for cleaning.
Only use cleaning agents and car care productsrecommended by Volvo. Clean regularly and fol-low the instructions included with the product.
Air filtering systems
In addition to the passenger compartment filter, the Clean Zone Interior Package* and the InteriorAir Quality System* contribute to a cleaner pas-senger compartment environment.
Clean Zone
The Clean Zone function monitors the conditionsthat affect good passenger compartment airquality.
The indicator is shown in center display's Cli-mate view.
The indicator is shown in the climate barwhen the Climate view is not open.
If the air quality conditions are not met, the textClean Zone will be white. When the conditionsare met, the text will change to blue.
The conditions monitored are:
•All side windows, doors, tailgate and panor-amic roof * are closed
•The Interior Air Quality System* is activated
•The air conditioning is activated
•Recirculation is deactivated
NOTE
Please be aware that the Clean Zone functiondoes not indicate that the air quality in thepassenger is good, only that the conditionsfor good air quality have been met.
