Turn signals
The turn signals are controlled by the left steer- ing wheel lever.
Turn signals
When changing lanes
The driver can automatically flash the turn
signals 3 times by moving the turn signal lever up or down to the first position and releasing it.
NOTE
• This automatic flashing sequence can be interrupted by immediately moving thelever in the opposite direction.
• If the turn signal indicator flashes fasterthan normal, check for a burned-out turnsignal bulb.
When turning
Move the lever as far up or down as possible
to start the turn signals. The turn signals will be cancelled automatically by the movement of thesteering wheel, or the lever can be returned to itsinitial position by hand.

Front interior lighting
The lighting in the front part of the passenger compartment is controlled with the buttons inthe ceiling console.

Switch (3) has three positions for all passenger compartment lighting: • Off
: right side depressed, automatic lighting

Keep the area around the power steering fluid reservoir clean when checking.
Bulbs – introduction
Certain bulbs can be replaced by the vehicle's owner. However, the bulbs on the following listshould only be replaced by a trained and quali-fied Volvo service technician.
All bulb specifications are listed in Bulbs – speci-
fications (p. 341).
• Active Bending Lights
• Daytime running lights, front parking lights
• Front side marker lights
• Turn signals in the door mirrors
• Approach lighting in the door mirrors
• Interior lighting (except for the front footwelllighting)
• Rear parking lights
• Rear side marker lights
• Rear turn signals
• LED bulbs
NOTE
•
For information regarding any bulbs not mentioned in this section, please contactyour Volvo retailer or a trained andauthorized Volvo service technician.
• Always switch off the ignition before star-ting to replace a bulb.
• If an error message remains in the dis-play after a faulty bulb has been replaced,contact an authorized Volvo workshop.
• Condensation may form temporarily onthe inside of the lenses of exterior lightssuch as headlights, fog lights, or taillights.This is normal and the lights aredesigned to withstand moisture. Normally,condensation will dissipate after thelights have been on for a short time.
• The optional Active Bending Light bulbscontain trace amounts of mercury. Thesebulbs should always be disposed of by atrained and qualified Volvo service techni-cian.
CAUTION
Never touch the glass of bulbs with your fin- gers. Grease and oils from your fingers vapor-ize in the heat and will leave a deposit on thereflector, which will damage it.

Bulbs – extra high beam The extra high beam bulb is concealed by the larger cover.

1. Remove the headlight housing from the vehi-
cle (see Bulbs – headlight housing (p. 335)).
2. Remove the cover over the bulbs (see Bulbs – cover (p. 336)).
3. Disconnect the wiring connector from the bulb holder.
4. Remove the bulb holder from the headlight housing by pulling it straight out.
5. Insert a new bulb in the holder. It can only be inserted in one way. 6. Press the bulb holder into position in the
headlight housing.
7. Reconnect the wiring connector to the bulb holder.
8. Put the cover back into position and reinstall the headlight housing.

Bulbs – front turn signals The turn signal bulb is concealed behind the smaller cover.
1. Remove the headlight housing from the vehi-
cle (see Bulbs – headlight housing (p. 335)).
2. Remove the bulb holder by turning it coun- terclockwise and pulling it out of the head- light housing.
3. Pull out the holder to access the bulb.
4. Remove the burned out bulb by pressing it in slightly and turning it counterclockwise.
5. Press the new bulb into the holder and turn it clockwise.
6. Reinsert the bulb holder into the headlight housing and turn it clockwise.

7. Reinstall the headlight housing.

The rear fog lights can be reached from behind the bumper
1. Remove the bulb holder by turning it coun- terclockwise.
2. Remove the burned out bulb by pressing it in and turning it counterclockwise.
3. Insert a new bulb, press it downward and turn it clockwise.
4. Reinsert the bulb holder and turn it clock- wise.

Bulbs – vanity mirror lighting
The vanity mirror bulbs are located behind the lens.
Removing the lens
1. Insert a flat screwdriver under the lens and carefully exert upward pressure to release the retaining lugs.
2. Snap out the lens.
3. Use needle nose pliers to pull the bulb straight to the side. Replace the bulb. Do not exert too much pressure on the bulb with thepliers to help avoid damaging it.
Reinstalling the lens1. Put the lens back into position.
2. Press it into place.
