Before Driving
■Auto-opening/closing
To fully open the window automatically, press the switch completely
down, then release. The window will fully open automatically.
To fully close the window automat ically, pull the switch completely
up, then release. The window will fully close automatically.
To stop the window partway, pull or press the switch in the opposite
direction and then release it.
● Power window system initialization procedure
If the battery was disconnected during vehicle maintenance, or
for other reasons (such as a switch continues to be operated
after the window is fully open/cl osed), the window will not fully
open and close automatically.
The power window auto function will only resume on a power
window that has been reset.
Switch the ignition ON.
Make sure that the power window lock switch located on the
driver’s door is not depressed.
Press the switch and fully open the window.
Pull up the switch to fully close the window and continue hold-
ing the switch for about 2 seconds after the window fully
closed.
■Jam-safe window
If a person’s hands, head or an obj ect blocks the window during the
auto-closing operatio n, the window will stop and open halfway.
■Engine-off power window operation
The power window can be operated for about 40 seconds after the
ignition is switched from ON to off with all doors closed. If any door
is opened, the power window will stop operating.

■Jam-safe window
●Depending on driving conditions, a closing power window could stop and
start opening when the window feels a shock that is similar to something
blocking it.
In the event the jam-safe function activates and the power window cannot
be closed automatically, pull and hold the switch and the window will close.
● The jam-safe window function does not operate until the system has been
reset.
■ Engine-off power window operation
For engine-off operation of the power window, the switch must be held up
firmly throughout window closure because the auto-closing function will be
inoperable.
Close
To close the window to the desired
position, pull up the switch.
Open
To open the window to the desired
position, hold down the switch.
WARNING
■Make sure nothing blocks the window just before it reaches the fully
closed position or while holding up the power window switch
Blocking the power window just before it reaches the fully closed position or
while holding up the power window switch is dangerous.
In this case, the jam-safe function cannot prevent the window from closing
all the way. If fingers are caught, serious injuries could occur.

Before Driving
Immobilizer System
If someone attempts to start the engine with an unrecognized key, the
engine will not start, thereby helping to prevent vehicle theft.
If you have a problem with the immobilizer system or the key, consult
your Toyota dealer.
● The keys carry a unique electronic code. For this reason, and to assure your
safety, obtaining a replacement key requires some waiting time. They are
only available through your Toyota dealer.
● Always keep a spare key in case one is lost. If a key is lost, consult your
Toyota dealer as soon as possible.
● If you lose a key, your Toyota dealer will reset the electronic codes of your
remaining keys and immobilizer system. Bring all the remaining keys to your
Toyota dealer to reset.
Starting the vehicle with a key that has not been reset is not possible.
The immobilizer system allows the engine to start only with a
key the system recognizes.
NOTICE
●Radio equipment like this is governed by laws in the United States.
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible
for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.
● To avoid damage to the key, do not:
• Drop the key.
• Get the key wet.
• Expose the key to any kind of magnetic field.
• Expose the key to high temperatures on places such as the dashboard
or hood, under direct sunlight.
● If the engine does not start with the correct key, and the security indicator
light keeps illuminating or flashing, the system may have a malfunction.

■Arming
The system is armed when the
ignition is switched from ON to
off.
The security indicator light in
the combination meter flashes
every 2 seconds until the sys-
tem is disarmed.
■Disarming
The system is disarmed when the ignition is switched ON with the
correct programmed key. The security indicator light illuminates for
about 3 seconds and then turns of f. If the engine does not start with
the correct key, and th e security indicator light remains illuminated
or flashing, try the following:
Make sure the key is within the operational range for signal trans-
mission. Switch the ignition off, and then restart the engine. If the
engine does not start after 3 or more tries, contact your Toyota
dealer.
● The engine may not start and security indicator light may illuminate or flash
if the key is placed in an area where it is difficult for the system to detect the
signal, such as on the dashboard or in the glove compartment. Move the
key to a location within the signal range, switch the ignition off, and then
restart the engine.
● Signals from a TV or radio station, or from a transceiver or mobile telephone
could interfere with your immobilizer system. If you are using the proper key
and the engine fails to start, check the security indicator light.
● If the security indicator light flashes continuously while you are driving, do
not shut off the engine. Go to your Toyota dealer and have it checked. If the
engine is shut off while the indicator light is flashing, you will not be able to
restart it.
● Because the electronic codes are reset when the immobilizer system is
repaired, the keys are needed. Make sure to bring all the keys to your Toy-
ota dealer so that they can be programmed.

■Odometer
The odometer records the total distance the vehicle has been
driven.
■Tr i p m e t e r
The trip meter can record the total distance of two trips. One is
recorded in trip meter A, and the other is recorded in trip meter B.
For instance, trip meter A can record the distance from the point of
origin, and trip meter B can record the distance from where the fuel
tank is filled.
When trip meter A is selected, pressing the selector again within
one second will change to trip meter B mode.
When trip meter A is selected, TRIP A will be displayed. When trip
meter B is selected, TRIP B will be displayed.
The trip meter records the total dist ance the vehicle is driven until
the meter is again reset. Return it to “0.0” by depressing and hold-
ing the selector for one second or more. Use this meter to measure
trip distances and to compute fuel consumption.
■ Odometer, Trip Meter and Trip Meter Selector
When the ignition is switched to ACC or off, the odometer or trip meters can-
not be displayed, however, pressing the selector can inadvertently switch the
trip meters or reset them during an approximate ten-minute period in the fol-
lowing cases:
● After the ignition is switched to off from ON.
● After the driver’s door is opened.
■ Trip meter
●Vehicles with type B audio:
If the fuel economy data is reset using the fuel economy monitor, or trip A is
reset using the trip meter when the function which synchronizes the fuel
economy monitor and the trip meter is on, the fuel economy data and trip A
are reset simultaneously.
Refer to Fuel Economy Monitor on P. 199.
● Only the trip meters record tenths of miles (kilometers).
● The trip record will be erased when:
• The power supply is interrupted (blown fuse or the battery is discon-
nected).
• The vehicle is driven over 9999.9 mile (km).

The following information can be selected by pressing the up or
down part of the INFO switch with the ignition switched ON.
• Approximate distance you can travel on the available fuel
• Average fuel economy
• Current fuel economy
• Average vehicle speed
If you have any problems with your trip computer, consult your Toyota
dealer.
■Distance-to-empty mode
The distance-to-empty will be calc ulated and displayed every sec-
ond.
■Average fuel economy mode
The average fuel economy is ca lculated and displayed every min-
ute.
To clear the data being displayed, press the INFO button for more
than 1.5 seconds.
After pressing the INFO button, - - - mpg (- - - L/100 km) will be dis-
played for about 1 minute before the fuel economy is recalculated
and displayed.
Trip Computer and INFO Switch
This mode displays th e approximate distance
you can travel on the remaining fuel based on
the fuel economy.
This mode displays the average fuel economy
by calculating the tota l fuel consumption and
the total traveled distance since purchasing
the vehicle, re-connecting the battery after dis-
connection, or resetting the data.

When Driving
■Current fuel economy mode
Current fuel economy will be calculated and displayed every 2 sec-
onds.
When you’ve slowed to about 3 mph (5 km/h), - - - mpg (- - - L/100
km) will be displayed.
■Average vehicle speed mode
Average vehicle speed will be calculated and displayed every 10
seconds.
To clear the data being displayed, press the INFO button for more
than 1.5 seconds.
After pressing the INFO button, - - - mph (- - - km/h) will be dis-
played for about 1 minute before the vehicle speed is recalculated
and displayed.
■ Distance-to-empty mode
●Even though the distance-to-empty display may indicate a sufficient amount
of remaining driving distance before refueling is required, refuel as soon as
possible if the fuel level is very low or the low fuel warning light illuminates.
● The display may not change unless you add more than approximately 2.3
gal. (9 L, 1.9 Imp.gal.) of fuel.
● The distance-to-empty is the approximate remaining distance the vehicle
can be driven until all the graduation marks in the fuel gauge (indicating the
remaining fuel supply) disappear.
● If there is no past fuel economy information such as after first purchasing
your vehicle or the information is deleted when the battery cables are dis-
connected, the actual distance-to empty/range may differ from the amount
indicated.
This mode displays the current fuel economy
by calculating the amount of fuel consumption
and the distance traveled.
This mode displays th e average vehicle speed
by calculating the distance and the time trav-
eled since connecting the battery or resetting
the data.

When Driving
When the ignition is switched ON,
the wrench indicator light is illumi-
nated and then turns off after a
few seconds.
The wrench indicator light is illu-
minated when the preset mainte-
nance period arrives. Verify the
content and perform mainte-
nance.
Refer to Maintenance Monitor on
P. 414.
The light illuminates continuously
when the engine coolant tempera-
ture is low and turns off after the
engine is warm.
If the low engine coolant tempera-
ture indicator light remains illumi-
nated after the engine has been
sufficiently warmed up, the tem-
perature sensor could have a mal-
function. Consult your Toyota
dealer.
