Setting the time
After accessing this menu option, it is possible to either set the time or
change the clock mode between
12 hour and 24 hour clock.
Press SETq once to access the
settings menu.
Scroll through the menu options using
R or S until Set time is displayed.
Press SETq to access this menu
option; Time is displayed.
To set the time: 1. Press SETq to access the Time
submenu option; the hours will flash in the display.
2. Press R or S to increase or
decrease the displayed value.
3. Press SETq to confirm changes;
the minutes will flash in the
display.4. Press R or S to increase or
decrease the displayed value.
5. Press SETq briefly to confirm
changes.
To change the clock mode between
12 hour and 24 hour clock:
1. After the time has been set, Mode may be displayed
automatically. Alternatively, press
R or S to select this submenu
option.
2. Press SETq to access this
submenu option; the display will
flash.
3. Press R or S to change clock
mode between 12h and 24h.
4. Press SETq briefly to confirm
changes and automatically return
to the previous display screen.

and indicators
Instrument cluster
The needles of the instruments may
briefly rotate to the end position when the ignition is switched on.
Speedometer
Indicates vehicle speed.
Odometer
Displays the recorded distance in km. H may appear in the display until the
vehicle has travelled 100 km.
Trip odometer
Displays the recorded distance since
the last reset.
Depending on version (standard or
multifunction display), there may be
two independent trip odometers, A or
B , which indicate how far the vehicle
has been driven since the last reset.
To reset the trip odometer, press and
hold TRIP on the end of the wiper
lever 3 95 for a few seconds while
the relevant trip odometer is
displayed.
Tachometer
Displays the engine speed.
Drive in a low engine speed range for each gear as much as possible.

Displays the fuel level or gas level in
the tank depending on the operation
mode.
During natural gas operation, the
system automatically switches over to
petrol operation when the gas tanks
are empty 3 76. Fuel selector
3 131.
Control indicator $ illuminates if the
level in the tank is low.
Note
The symbol k beside Y indicates
that the fuel filler flap is located on
the left side of the vehicle.
Never run the tank dry.
Because of the fuel remaining in the
tank, the top-up quantity may be less
than the specified tank capacity.
The needle will point to 0 and control
indicator $ will flash to indicate a fault
in the system. Seek the assistance of a workshop.
Low fuel control indicator $ 3 87.
CNG fuel gauge
In natural gas operation mode, the
four vertical bars next to CNG
correspond to the methane level in
the cylinders. As the fuel level
diminishes, the bars in the CNG fuel
gauge disappear.
CNG and the one remaining bar will
flash if the methane level in the
cylinders is low.
Refuelling 3 132.
Fuel selector
Pressing Y in the centre console (if
fitted) switches between petrol and
natural gas operation. The LED 1
status shows the current operating
mode.

During natural gas operation, if
control indicator Y illuminates in the
Driver Information Centre 3 89, the
natural gas tanks are empty and petrol operation is automatically
engaged.
Fuel for natural gas operation 3 131,
Refuelling 3 132.
Engine coolant temperature gauge
Displays the coolant temperature.
If control indicator $ illuminates, the
coolant temperature is too high.
Depending on version, a message
also appears in the Driver Information Centre 3 89. Seek the assistance of
a workshop.Caution
If engine coolant temperature is
too high, stop vehicle, switch off
engine. Danger to engine. Check
coolant level.
Service display
Service display is available in
vehicles with Multifunction version of the Driver Information Centre 3 89.
When the ignition is switched on, the remaining distance before the next
service is due may be shown briefly.
Based on driving conditions, the
interval at which a service will be
indicated can vary considerably.
When the remaining distance before
the next service is less than 2,000 km ,
Serv. appears in the Driver
Information Centre. The service
reminder is repeated after every
additional 200 km and becomes more
frequent when the remaining distance
is below 200 km.
When the remaining distance has
reduced to zero, a warning message, e.g. Service coupon expired , appears
in the Driver Information Centre.
The vehicle needs a service. Seek the assistance of a workshop.
The remaining distance to the next
service may also be viewed in the
Driver Information Centre by
selecting Service from the settings
menu options 3 89.

shown in the transmission display.

Control indicators
The control indicators described are
not present in all vehicles. The
description applies to all instrument
versions. Depending on the
equipment, the position of the control
indicators may vary.
When the ignition is switched on,
most control indicators will illuminate
briefly as a functionality test.
The control indicator colours mean:red:danger, important reminderyellow:warning, information, faultgreen:confirmation of activationblue:confirmation of activationwhite:confirmation of activation

3 87; stop engine immediately and
seek the assistance of a workshop.
In the event of the failure of control
indicator v for airbags and belt
tensioners 3 81, 9 will illuminate.
9 also illuminates if the fuel cut-off
switch is triggered. Consult a
workshop.
Fuel cut-off system 3 95, Vehicle
shutdown 3 113.
Depending on version, a
corresponding warning message may
also be displayed in the Driver
Information Centre 3 89.
Turn signal 2 or 3 flashes green.
Flashes
A turn signal or the hazard warning flashers are activated.
Rapid flashing: failure of a turn signal
light or associated fuse, failure of turn signal light on trailer.

Seat belt reminder
Seat belt reminder for front seats
X for driver's seat and/or front
passenger seat illuminates or flashes
red.
Illuminates
When the ignition has been switched on, control indicator X illuminates
briefly if driver's seat belt and/or front
passenger seat belt is not fastened. A warning chime also sounds for a few
seconds.
Flashes
During driving X will flash and a
warning chime will sound for
90 seconds until the front seat belts are fastened.
Three-point seat belts 3 45.9 Warning
Fasten seat belt before each trip.
In the event of an accident, people
not wearing seat belts endanger their fellow occupants and
themselves.
Note
The volume of the warning chime
can also be adjusted via the Driver
Information Centre 3 89.
Airbag and belt tensioners v illuminates red.
When the ignition is switched on, the control indicator illuminates for
approx. four seconds.
If it does not illuminate, does not go
out after four seconds or illuminates
whilst driving, there is a fault in the
airbag system. Seek the assistance
of a workshop. The airbags and belt
pretensioners may fail to trigger in the event of an accident.
Deployment of the belt pretensioners
or airbags is indicated by continuous
illumination of v.

Airbag deactivation
* illuminates yellow.
With the front passenger airbag
activated:
When the ignition is switched on, control indicator * illuminates for
approx. four seconds, flashes for another four seconds and then
extinguishes.
With the front passenger airbag
deactivated:
* permanently illuminates yellow.
Airbag deactivation 3 52.9 Danger
Risk of fatal injury for a child using
a child restraint system together
with activated front passenger
airbag.
Risk of fatal injury for an adult
person with deactivated front
passenger airbag.
Charging system
p illuminates red.
Illuminates when the ignition is
switched on and extinguishes shortly
after the engine starts.
Illuminates when the engine is
running
Stop, switch off engine. Battery is not
charging. Engine cooling may be
interrupted. The brake servo unit may cease to be effective. Seek the
assistance of a workshop.
Malfunction indicator light
Z illuminates or flashes yellow.
Illuminates when the ignition is
switched on and extinguishes shortly
after the engine starts.
Illuminates when the engine is
running
Fault in the emission control system.The permitted emission limits may be
exceeded. Seek the assistance of a
workshop immediately.

Fault that could lead to catalytic
converter damage. Ease up on the accelerator until the flashing stops.
Seek the assistance of a workshop
immediately.
Depending on version, a warning
message may also be displayed in
the Driver Information Centre 3 89.
Brake system
R illuminates red.
Illuminates after the ignition is
switched on if the parking brake is
applied 3 124. A warning chime will
sound if a certain speed is exceeded
with the parking brake applied.
Illuminates when the parking brake is
released if the brake fluid level is too
low 3 142.9 Warning
Stop. Do not continue your
journey. Consult a workshop.
Illuminates if the brake vacuum servo
fails; the brake pedal becomes stiff
when pressed. The brake system
remains operational however,
assistance will be reduced. The
steering may also require
considerably more effort when
turning.
Depending on version, a
corresponding warning message,
e.g. Brake fluid level insuff. , may also
be displayed in the Driver Information Centre 3 89.
Brake pad wear
F illuminates yellow.
The front brake pads are worn, seek
the assistance of a workshop
immediately.
Depending on version, a
corresponding warning message, e.g. Check brake pads , may also be
displayed in the Driver Information
Centre 3 89.Antilock brake system
(ABS)
u illuminates yellow.
Illuminates for a few seconds after the
ignition is switched on. The system is ready for operation when the controlindicator extinguishes.
If the control indicator does not
extinguish after a few seconds, or if it
illuminates while driving, there is a
fault in the ABS. The brake system
remains operational but without ABS
regulation.
If u illuminates together with R,
there is a fault in the braking system. Depending on version, a
corresponding warning message,
e.g. ABS unavailable , may also be
displayed in the Driver Information
Centre 3 89. Seek the assistance of
a workshop immediately.
Antilock brake system 3 123.
Transmission
s illuminates red.
Illuminates for a few seconds after the ignition is switched on.
