The seat belt pre-tensioners are located within the seat belt retractors (A). When activated, the pre-tensioners quickly draw back seat belt webbing and increase seat belt performance. The seat belt pre-tensioner system includes the following components:
The airbag control unit monitors the readiness of the electronic parts of the system whenever the ignition switch is in the “ON” or “START” position. These include all of theitems listed above and all related wiring. The pre-tensioner seat belt system will oper- ate only when the ignition switch is in the“ON” or “START” position. When the seat belt pre-tensioners activate, some smoke is released and a loud noise will be heard. The smoke is not harmful, but careshould be taken not to intentionally inhale it, as it may cause some temporary irritation to people with respiratory problems. The pre-tensioners activate in the event of a moderate-to-severe frontal or side impact, even if the seat belt is not being worn. Theseat belt pre-tensioners may not activate in certain types of collisions, even though the vehicle may appear to be severely damaged.Such non-activation does not mean some- thing is wrong with the seat belt pre-tensioner system, but rather that the collision forceswere not severe enough or not of the type to activate the system.

Similarly, no part of the SRS shouldever be handled, removed or disposed by anyone except an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer.Improper work methods on the SRS com- ponents or wiring could result in an acci- dental airbag deployment or could makethe SRS inoperable. Either of these situa- tions could result in serious injury or death. Do not modify your steering wheel or any other SRS component or related vehiclepart. 3. Clamp it on the fuse you wish to remove, and pull the fuse straight out from the fuse block.
4. Use the fuse location diagrams and the matching tables, to check the fuse that is related to the problem. If the fuse is not blown, something else must be causingthe problem. Contact an authorized Mit- subishi Motors dealer or a repair facility of your choice to have the problemchecked. 5. Insert a new fuse of the same capacity securely into the appropriate slot.
N00942901375
Before replacing a bulb, be sure the light isoff. Do not touch the glass part of the newbulb with your bare fingers; the oil from your skin will stay on the glass and dim or destroy the bulb when it gets hot.
B- Fuse is OKC- Blown fuseCAUTION Never use a fuse with a capacity greater than the one listed or any substitute, such as wire, foil etc. This would cause the circuit wiringto heat up and could cause a fire.
If the replacement fuse blows again after a short time, have the electrical system checked by an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer or a repair facility of your choice to find and correct the cause.
Replacement of light bulbs
CAUTION Bulbs are extremely hot immediately after being turned off. When replacing a bulb, wait for it to coolsufficiently before touching it. You could otherwise be burned. Do not install commercially available LED- type bulbs. Commercially available LED-type bulbs could adversely affect the operation of the vehicle, such as by preventing the lamps andother vehicle equipment from operating properly.CAUTION
