The side airbags (A) are contained in the driver and front passenger seatbacks.The side airbag is designed to inflate only on the side of the vehicle that is impacted, even with no passenger in the front seat. A label is attached to the seatbacks in vehi- cles with side airbags.
 Do not attach additional keys or accesso- ries (hard, pointed or heavy objects) to the ignition key. Such objects could prevent the driver’s knee airbag from inflating normally or could be propelled to causeserious injury if the airbag inflates.  Do not attach accessories to the lower por- tion of the driver’s side instrument panel. Such objects could prevent the driver’s knee airbag from inflating normally orcould be propelled to cause serious injury if the airbag inflates.WA R N I N G Do not attempt to remove, install, disas- semble or repair the SRS airbags.WA R N I N G
 Do not place objects, such as packages or pets, between the airbags and the driver or the front passenger. Such objects can adversely affect airbag performance, or cause serious injury or death when theairbag deploys. Immediately after airbag inflation, some parts of the airbag system will be hot. Do not touch them. You could be burned.  The airbag system is designed to work only once. After the airbags deploy, they will not work again. They must promptlybe replaced and the entire airbag system must be inspected by an authorized Mit- subishi Motors dealer.WA R N I N G

CAUTION If the vehicle is driven while the engine oil is low, or the oil level is normal but the warn- ing is displayed, the engine may overheat and damage may result. If the warning is displayed while the engine is running, park your vehicle in a safe place as soon as possible and check the engine oil level. If this warning display comes on when the engine oil level is proper, have your vehiclechecked at an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer or a repair facility of your choice.NOTE
 The oil pressure warning display does not show the amount of oil. The oil level must be checked using the dipstick.
Combination headlights and dimmer switch Headlights
NOTE
 Do not leave the headlights and other lights on for a long period of time when the engine is not running. The battery will run down.  When it rains, or when the vehicle has been washed, the inside of the lens sometimes becomes foggy. This is the same as whenwindow glass mists up on a humid day, and does not indicate a problem. When the light is switched on, the heat will dry out the fog.However, if water collects inside the light, have it checked by an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer or a repair facility of yourchoice.

 If the ignition key is turned to “LOCK” or “ACC” position or removed from the ignition switch and the driver’s door is opened with the combination headlights and dimmer switch in the “ ” or “ ” [When using a key to start the engine]
• If the driver’s door is opened after the key is removed from the ignition switch, a high-pitched constant tone will sound to remind you to turn off the lights.• If the driver’s door is opened with the key in the ignition switch, a low-pitched tone will sound to remind you to removethe key. [When using the F.A.S.T.-key to start the engine] • If the ignition switch is turned to the“LOCK” position and the driver’s dooris opened, a high-pitched constant buzzer will sound to remind you to turn off the lights.• If the ignition switch is turned to any position other than “LOCK” and the driver’s door is opened, a low-pitchedconstant buzzer will sound to remind you to return the ignition switch.

 Even if the daytime running lights are not on, they will come on once the vehicle starts moving.  Once the daytime running light come on, they do not go out until the key is turned tothe “LOCK” or “ACC” position.  The sensitivity of the automatic on/off con- trol can be adjusted. For further information, please contact your authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer or arepair facility of your choice.
 Do not cover the sensor (A) for the automatic on/off control by affixing a sticker or label to the windshield.  If the lights do not turn on or off with the switch in the “AUTO” position, manually operate the switch and we recommend you to have your vehicle checked.

When changing lanes, or to making a gradual turn, hold the lever in
the “lane change” posi-
tion (1). It will return to the neutral positionwhen you let go. Use the full position (2) when making a normal turn. The lever will return to the neutral position when the turn iscomplete. There may be times when the lever does not return to the neutral position. This usually happens when the steering wheel isturned only slightly. You can easily return the lever by hand. Also, when you move the lever to (1) slightlythen release it, the turn signal lights and indi- cator light in the instrument cluster will flash three times.

If you press the flasher switch, the front andrear turn signals will flash intermittently, and so will the hazard warning lights. This is an emergency warning system and should not beused when the vehicle is in motion, except foremergencies. If you need to leave your vehicle, the flashers will keep working afte

 Start adjusting when the knob is at the “0” position (when the beam is at its highest).  Keep the knob in the “0” position except when using the knob to lower the headlightbeam angle.  Always return the knob to the “0” position when the load is removed and the people have left the vehicle.

 A light in the instrument panel flashes to show when the front and rear turn signal lights are working properly.If this light flashes faster than usual, check for a burned out light bulb or malfunctioning connection.If the panel light does not come on when the lever is moved, check for a blown fuse or a burned out bulb in the panel.Have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer or a repair facility of your choice.  The turn signal light 3-flash function for lane changes can be deactivated.See your authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer for details.  You can adjust the time required to operate the lever for the 3-flash function. For a safer and more enjoyable trip, always observe the following:  Before starting the vehicle, make certain that you and all passengers are seated and wearing their seat belts properly (with children in the rear seat, in appropriaterestraints), and that all the doors are locked.
 Move the driver’s seat as far backward as possible, while still keeping good visibil- ity, and good control of the steering wheel, brakes, accelerator, and controls.Check the instrument panel indicators and multi-information display for any possible problem.  Move the front passenger seat as far back as possible.  Make sure that infants and small children are properly restrained in accordance withall laws and regulations.
Check these by selecting the defroster mode, and set the blower switch on high. You should be able to feel the air blowing against the windshield. (Refer to “Defrosting or defogging the wind- shield and door windows” on page 7-8, 7-13.) Check all the tires for heavy tread wear or uneven wear patterns. Look for stones, nails, glass, or other objects stuck in the tread. Lookfor any tread cuts or sidewall cracks. Check the wheel nuts for tightness, and the tires (including spare tire) for proper pressures.
WA R N I N G If a floor mat is the wrong size or is not properly installed, it can interfere with the operation of the pedals. Interference with the pedals can cause unintended accelera- tion and/or increased stopping distancesresulting in a crash and injury. Always make sure the floor mat does not interfere with the accelerator or brake pedal. Always use the retaining clip on the driver’s floorboard to secure the floormat. Always install the mat with the correct side facing down. Never install a second mat over or under an existing floor mat. Do not use a floor mat designed for another model vehicle ev
en if it is a Mit-
subishi genuine floor mat. Before driving, be sure to check the fol- lowing:• Periodically check that the floor mat isproperly secured with the retaining clips. If you remove the floor mat while clean-ing the inside of your vehicle or for any other reason, always check the condition of the floor mat after it has been rein-stalled.• While the vehicle is stopped with the engine off, check that the floor mat is not interfering with the pedals by depressingthe pedals fully.
