Do not rely completely on Hill Launch
Assist (HLA):
Hill Launch Assist (HLA) is an auxiliary
device for accelerating from a stop
on a slope. The system only operates
for about two seconds and therefore,
relying only on the system, when
accelerating from a stop is dangerous
because the vehicle may move (roll)
unexpectedly and cause an accident.
The vehicle could roll depending on
the vehicle's load or if it is towing
something. In addition, for vehicles
with a manual transmission, the
vehicle could still roll depending on
how the clutch pedal or the accelerator
pedal is operated.
Always confi rm the safety around the
vehicle before starting to drive the
vehicle.

N O T E
 


y Hill Launch Assist (HLA) does not
operate on a gentle slope. In addition,
the gradient of the slope on which the
system will operate changes depending
on the vehicle's load.
 


y Hill Launch Assist (HLA) does not
operate if the parking brake is applied,
the vehicle has not stopped completely,
or the clutch pedal is released.
 


y While Hill Launch Assist (HLA) is
operating, the brake pedal may feel
stiff and vibrate, however, this does not
indicate a malfunction.
 


y Hill Launch Assist (HLA) does not
operate while the TCS/DSC indicator
light is illuminated.
  Refer to Warning/Indicator Lights on
page 4-26 .
 


y Hill Launch Assist (HLA) does not
turn off even if the DSC OFF switch is
pressed to turn off the TCS/DSC.

Rear Cross Traf¿ c Alert (RCTA) *
T h e R e a r C r o s s T r a f¿ c Alert (RCTA) system is designed to assist the driver in checking the
area to the rear of the vehicle on both sides while the vehicle is reversing by alerting the
driver to the presence of vehicles approaching the rear of the vehicle.
The Rear Cross Traf¿ c Alert (RCTA) system detects vehicles approaching from the left and
right sides of the vehicle while the vehicle is being reversed out of a parking space, and
noti¿ es the driver of possible danger using the Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) warning lights
and the warning buzzer.

Rear Cross Traf¿ c Alert (RCTA) operation
1. The Rear Cross Traf¿ c Alert (RCTA) system operates when the shift lever (manual
transmission) or the selector lever (automatic transmission) is shifted to the reverse (R)
position.
2. If there is the possibility of a collision with an approaching vehicle, the Blind
Spot Monitoring (BSM) warning light À ashes and the warning beep is activated
simultaneously.

Flat Tire
WARNING
Do not allow children to touch the tire
sealant:
 


¾ Ingestion of tire sealant is
dangerous. In the event tire
sealant is accidentally swallowed,
drink large amounts of water
immediately and seek medical
assistance.
 


¾ Tire sealant that comes into contact
with the eyes and skin is dangerous.
If tire sealant enters the eyes or
contacts the skin, fl ush immediately
with large amounts of water and
seek medical assistance.

y The tire sealant cannot be reused.
Purchase new tire sealant at an
Authorized Mazda Dealer.
 


y The emergency À at tire repair kit cannot
be used in the following cases.
  Consult an Authorized Mazda Dealer. 



y The period of effective use for the
tire sealant has expired. (The period
of effectiveness is indicated on the
bottle label.)
 


y The tear or puncture exceeds about 4
mm (0.16 in).
 


y The damage has occurred to an area
of the tire other than the tread.
 


y The vehicle has been driven with
nearly no air remaining in the tire.
 


y The tire has come off the wheel rim.



y Damage to the wheel rim has
occurred.
 


y The tire has two or more punctures.

Using the Emergency Flat Tire
Repair Kit
U.S.A. and Canada
1. Move the vehicle off the right-of-way
to a safe place on a level and hard
surface where the vehicle does not
obstruct traf¿ c.
2. Shift the shift lever to the 1 or Reverse
(R) position for a manual transmission,
and shift the selector lever to the P
position for an automatic transmission.
3. Apply the parking brake with the brake
pedal depressed and turn off the engine.
4. If necessary, À ash the hazard warning
lights and set up the roadside
emergency triangle.
5. Unload passengers and cargo and
remove the emergency À at tire repair
kit.
