WARNING
■Back door closer
●Use caution when using the back door closer as it still operates when the power back door system is disabled.
■Power back door
Observe the following precautions when operating the power back door. Failure to do so may cause death or serious injury.
●Check the safety of the surrounding area to make sure there are no obstacles or any-thing that could cause any of your belongings to get caught.
●If anyone is in the vicinity, make sure they are safe and let them know that the power
back door is about to open or close.
●If the power back door system is disabled ( P. 115) while the power back door is operating, the power back door will stop operating. The power back door must then
be operated manually. Take extra care in th is situation, as the power back door may open or close suddenly.
●If the operating conditions of the power back door (P. 156) are no longer met, a
buzzer may sound and the power back door may stop opening or closing. The power back door must then be operated manually. Take extra care on an incline in this situa-tion, as the power back door may move suddenly.
●On an incline, the power back door may suddenly shut after it opens. Make sure thepower back door is fully open and secure.
●In the following situations, the power back door may detect an abnormality and auto-
matic operation may be stopped. In this case, the power back door must then be operated manually. Take extra care in this situation, as the stopped power back door may suddenly open or close, causing an accident.
• When the power back door contacts an obstacle • When the battery voltage suddenly drops, such as when the engine switch isturned to IGNITION ON mode or the engine is started during automatic opera-
tion
●In the event that the power back door is left
slightly open, the back door closer will auto- matically close it to the fully closed position. Ittakes several seconds before the back door
closer begins to operate. Be careful not to get fingers caught or anything else in the powerback door, as this may cause bone fractures
or other serious injuries.

■Note for the entry function
●Even when the electronic key is within the effective range (detection areas), the system may not operate properly in the following cases:
• The electronic key is too close to the window or outside door handle, near the ground, or in a high place when the doors are locked or unlocked.• The electronic key is near the ground or in a high place, or too close to the rear
bumper center when the back door is opened. • The electronic key is on the instrument panel, luggage compartment, floor, or in thedoor pockets or glove box when the engine is started or engine switch modes are
changed.
●Do not leave the electronic key on top of th e instrument panel or near the door pockets
when exiting the vehicle. Depending on the radio wave reception conditions, it may be detected by the antenna outside the cabin and the door will become lockable from theoutside, possibly trapping the electronic key inside the vehicle.
●As long as the electronic key is within the effective range, the doors may be locked orunlocked by anyone.
●Even if the electronic key is not inside the vehicle, it may be possible to start the engine
if the electronic key is near the window.
●The doors may unlock if a large amount of wa ter splashes on the door handle, such as in the rain or in a car wash when the electronic key is within the effective range. (The door
will automatically be locked after approx imately 30 seconds if the doors are not opened and closed.)
●If the wireless remote control is used to lock the doors when the electronic key is near
the vehicle, there is a possibility that the d oor may not be unlocked by the entry func- tion. (Use the wireless remote control to unlock the doors.)
●Touching the door lock sensor while wearin g gloves may delay or prevent lock opera-
tion. Remove the gloves and to uch the lock sensor again.
●If the door handle becomes wet while the electronic key is within the effective range,
the door may lock and unlock repeatedly. In that case, follow the following correction
procedures to wash the vehicle:
• Place the electronic key in a location 2 m (6 ft.) or more away from the vehicle. (Take
care to ensure that the key is not stolen.)
• Set the electronic key to battery-saving mode to disable the smart entry & start sys-
tem. ( P. 170)
●If the electronic key is inside the vehicle and a door handle becomes wet during a car wash, a message may be shown on the mult i-information display and a buzzer will
sound outside the vehicle. To turn off the alarm, lock all the doors.
●The lock sensor may not work properly if it comes into contact with ice, snow, mud, etc. Clean the lock sensor and attempt to operate it again.
●A sudden approach to the effective range or door handle may prevent the doors frombeing unlocked. In this case, return the door handle to the original position and check that the doors unlock before pulling the door handle again.
●If there is another electronic key in the de tection area, it may take slightly longer to unlock the doors after the door handle is gripped.
●Fingernails may scrape against the door duri ng operation of the door handle. Be care-
ful not to injure fingernails or damage the surface of the door.

Your preferred driving position (the position of the driver’s seat, steering wheel
and outside rear view mirrors) can be recorded and recalled by pressing a but-
ton.
Three different driving positions can be recorded into memory.
■Recording procedure
Check that the shift lever is in P.
Turn the engine switch to IGNITION ON mode.
Adjust the driver’s seat, steering wheel, and outside rear view mirrors to the
desired positions.
While pressing the “SET” button,
or within 3 seconds after the
“SET” button is pressed, press
button “1”, “2” or “3” until the
buzzer sounds.
If the selected button has already been preset, the previously recorded
position will be overwritten.
Vehicles with the driving position memory for the front passenger’s seat: To
record the position of the front passeng er’s seat, adjust the front passenger’s
seat to the desired position and perform step using the switches on the
front passenger’s side.

■Recall procedure
Check that the shift lever is in P.
Turn the engine switch to IGNITION ON mode.
Press one of the buttons for the
driving position you want to recall
until the buzzer sounds.
■To stop the position recall operation part-way through
Perform any of the following:
●Press the “SET” button.
●Press button “1”, “2” or “3”.
●Operate any of the seat adjustment switches (only cancels seat position recall).
●Operate the tilt and telescopic steering control switch (only cancels steering wheel position recall).
■Seat positions that can be memorized ( P. 185)
The adjusted positions other than the position adjusted by lumbar support switch can be recorded.
■Operating the driving position memory after turning the engine switch off
Driver’s seat: Recorded seat positions can be activated up to 180 seconds after the driver’s door is
opened and another 60 seconds after it is closed again.
Front passenger’s seat: Recorded seat positions can be recalled up to 180 seconds after the front passenger’s
door is opened.
■In order to correctly use the driving position memory function
If a seat position is already in the furthest possible position and the seat is operated in the
same direction, the recorded position may be slightly different when it is recalled.

Each electronic key (including a card key) can be registered to recall your pre-
ferred driving position.
■Registering procedure
Record your driving position to button “1”, “2” or “3” before performing the
following:
Carry only the key you want to register, and then close the driver’s door.
If 2 or more keys are in the vehicle, the driving position cannot be recorded
properly.
Check that the shift lever is in P.
Turn the engine switch to IGNITION ON mode.
Recall the driving position that you want to record.
While pressing the recalled but-
ton, press and hold the door lock
switch (either lock or unlock) until
the buzzer sounds.
If the button could not be registered, the buzzer sounds continuously for approximately 3 seconds.
■Recall procedure
Carry the electronic key that has been registered to the driving position,
and then unlock and open the driver’s door using the smart entry & start
system or wireless remote control.
The driving position will move to the recorded position (not including the steering
wheel). However, the seat will move to a posi tion slightly behind the recorded posi- tion in order to make entering the vehicle easier. If the driving position is in a position that has already been recorded, the seat and
outside rear view mirrors will not move.
Turn the engine switch to ACCESSORY mode or IGNITION ON mode,
or fasten a seat belt.
The seat and steering wheel will move to the recorded position.

Observe the following precautions. Failing to do so may result in death or serious injury.
■Opening and closing the windows
●The driver is responsible for all the power window operations, including the operation for the passengers. In order to prevent acci dental operation, especially by a child, do not let a child operate the power windows. It is possible for children and other passen-
gers to have body parts caught in the power window. Also, when riding with a child, it is recommended to use the window lock switch. ( P. 210)
●When using the wireless remote control or mechanical key and operating the power
windows, operate the power window after checking to make sure that there is no pos- sibility of any passenger having any of thei r body parts caught in the window. Also do not let a child operate power window by the wireless remote control or mechanical
key. It is possible for children and other passengers to get caught in the power win- dow.
●When exiting the vehicle, turn the engine switch off, carry the key and exit the vehicle
along with the child. There may be accidental operation, due to mischief, etc., that may possibly lead to an accident.
■Jam protection function
●Never use any part of your body to intent ionally activate the jam protection function.
●The jam protection function may not work if something gets jammed just before the window is fully closed. Be careful not to ge t any part of your body jammed in the win-
dow.
■Catch protection function
●Never use any part of your body or clothing to intentionally activate the catch protec-
tion function.
●The catch protection function may not work if something gets caught just before the window is fully opened. Be careful not to get any part of your body or clothing caught
in the window.
●Check to make sure that all passengers do not have any part of their body in a positionwhere it could be caught when a window is
being operated.

■When the moon roof does not close normally
Perform the following procedure:
●If the moon roof closes but then re-opens slightly
Stop the vehicle.
Press and hold the “CLOSE” switch.*1
The moon roof will close, reopen and pause for approximately 10 seconds.*2 Then it
will close again, tilt up and pause for approximately 1 second. Finally, it will tilt down, open and close.
Check to make sure that the moon roof is completely closed and then release the
switch.
●If the moon roof tilts down but then tilts back up
Stop the vehicle.
Press and hold the “UP” switch*1 until the moon roof moves into the tilt up position and stops.
Release the “UP” switch once and then press and hold the “UP” switch again.*1
The moon roof will pause for approximately 10 seconds in the tilt up position.*2
Then it will adjust slightly and pause for approximately 1 second. Finally, it will tilt down, open and close.
Check to make sure that the moon roof is completely closed and then release the switch.
*1: If the switch is released at the incorrec t time, the procedure will have to be per-
formed again from the beginning.
*2: If the switch is released after the above mentioned 10 second pause, automatic
operation will be disabled. In that case, pr ess and hold the “CLOSE” or “UP” switch,
and the moon roof will tilt up and pause for approximately 1 second. Then it will tilt
down, open and close. Check to make sure that the moon roof is completely closed
and then release the switch.
If the moon roof does not fully close even after performing the above procedure cor- rectly, have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or anotherduly qualified and equipped professional.
■Alarm (if equipped)
The alarm may be triggered if the alarm is se t and the moon roof is closed using the door lock linked moon roof operation function. ( P. 84)
■Moon roof open warning buzzer
The buzzer sounds and a message is shown on the multi-information display in the instru- ment cluster when the engine switch is turned off and the driver’s door is opened with the
moon roof open.
■Customization
Some functions can be customized. ( P. 740)

■Opening the moon roof
●Do not allow any passengers to put their hands or heads outside the vehicle while it ismoving.
●Do not sit on top of the moon roof.
■Opening and closing the moon roof
●The driver is responsible for moon ro of opening and closing operations. In order to prevent accidental operation, espe cially by a child, do not let a child oper-
ate the moon roof. It is possible for children and other passengers to have body parts caught in the moon roof.
■Jam protection function
●Never use any part of your body to intent ionally activate the jam protection function.
●The jam protection function may not work if something gets caught just before the
moon roof is fully closed. Also, the jam protection function is not designed to operate while the switch is being pressed. Take care so that your fingers, etc. do not get caught.
●Check to make sure that all passengers donot have any part of their body in a positionwhere it could be caught when the moon roof
is being operated.
●When using the wireless remote control or mechanical key and operating the moon roof,
operate the moon roof after checking to make sure that there is no possibility of anypassenger having any of their body parts
caught in the moon roof. Also, do not let a child operate moon roof by the wirelessremote control or mechanical key. It is possi-
ble for children and other passengers to get caught in the moon roof.
●When exiting the vehicle, turn the engine
switch off, carry the key and exit the vehicle along with the child. There may be accidentaloperation, due to mischief, etc., that may pos-
sibly lead to an accident.
