■Tire information
●Increase the tire inflation pressure to 20.0 kPa (0.2 kgf/cm 2
or bar, 3 psi) greater than
the recommended value when towing. ( P. 629)
●Increase the air pressure of the trailer tires in accordance with the total trailer weight
and according to the values recommended by the manufacturer of your trailer.
■Trailer lights
●Please consult any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reli-
able repairer when installing trailer lights, as incorrect installation may cause damage to
the vehicle’s lights. Please take care to comply with your state’s laws when installing
trailer lights.
●Check that the turn signal lights and stoplights are operating correctly every time you
hitch up the trailer. Directly wiring up to your vehicle may damage the electrical systemand stop the lights from functioning correctly.
■Break-in schedule
Lexus recommends that vehicles fitted with new power train components should not be
used for towing trailers for the first 800 km (500 miles).
■Safety checks before towing
●Check that the maximum load limit for the towing hitch/bracket and hitch ball is not
exceeded. Bear in mind that the coupling weight of the trailer will add to the load
exerted on the vehicle. Also make sure that the total load exerted on the vehicle is
within the range of the weight limits. ( P. 234)
●Ensure that the trailer load is secure.
●Supplementary outside rear view mirrors should be added to the vehicle if the traffic
behind cannot be clearly seen with standard mirrors. Adjust the extending arms of
these mirrors on both sides of the vehicle so that they always provide maximum visibility
of the road behind.
■Maintenance
●Maintenance must be performed more frequently when using the vehicle for towing
due to the greater weight burden placed on the vehicle compared to normal driving.
●Retighten all bolts securing the hitching ball and bracket after towing for approximately
1000 km (600 miles).
NOTICE
■When the rear bumper strengthening material is aluminum
Ensure the steel bracket part does not come directly in contact with that area.
When steel and aluminum come into contact, there is a reaction similar to corrosion,
which will weaken the section concerned and may result in damage. Apply a rust inhib-
itor to parts that will come in co ntact when attaching a steel bracket.

Turn signal lever
The lever will return to its original position immediately after operation.
Right turn
Lane change to the right (move the
lever partway and release it)
The right hand signals will flash 3 times.

Left turn
■If the turn signals do not stop flashing af ter turning left or right, or if you want
to stop them flashing
Operate the lever in the opposite direction to either position or .
If you move the lever to either position or , the selected turn signals will
flash.
■Turn signals can be operated when
The engine switch is in IGNITION ON mode.
■If the indicator flashes faster than usual
Check that a light bulb in the front or rear turn signal lights has not burned out.
■If the turn signals stop flashing before a lane change has been performed
Operate the lever again.

:On some models
In the following situations, the RSA system alerts the driver using a warning dis-
play. ● When the vehicle speed exceeds the speed warning threshold applied to the
speed limit of the sign displayed on the multi-information display, the sign
color becomes inverted.
● If it is detected that your vehicle is overtaking when a no overtaking sign is dis-
played on the multi-information display, the sign flashes.
● On some models: When the RSA system recognizes a no-entry sign and
detects that the vehicle has entered a no-entry area based on the map infor-
mation of the navigation system, the no-entry sign flashes.
Depending on the situation, traffic environment (traffic direction, speed , unit)
may be detected incorrectly and a warning display may not operate properly.
■Automatic turn-off of RSA sign display
One or more signs automatically turn off in the following situations.
●A new sign is not recognized for a certain distance.
●The road changes due to a left or right turn, etc.
■Conditions in which the function may not operate or detect correctly
In the following situations, RSA does not op erate normally and may not recognize signs,
display the incorrect sign, etc. However, this does not indicate a malfunction.
●The camera sensor is misaligned due to a st rong impact being applied to the sensor,
etc.
●Dirt, snow, stickers, etc. are on the windshield near the camera sensor.
●In inclement weather such as heavy rain, fog, snow or sand storms
●Light from an oncoming vehicle, the sun, etc. enters the camera sensor.
●The sign is dirty, faded, tilted or bent, and if an electronic sign, the contrast is poor.
●All or part of the sign is hidden by the leaves of a tree, a pole, etc.
●The sign is only visible to the camera sensor for a short amount of time.
●The driving scene (turning, lane change, etc.) is judged incorrectly.
●Even if it is a sign not appropriate for the currently traveled lane, such a sign exists
directly after a freeway branches, or in an adjacent lane just before merging.
●Stickers are attached to the rear of the preceding vehicle.
●A sign resembling a system compatible sign is recognized.
●The vehicle is driven in a country with a different direction of traffic.

BSM (Blind Spot Monitor)
The Blind Spot Monitor is a system that has 2 functions; ●
The Blind Spot Monitor function
Assists the driver in making the decision when changing lanes
● The Rear Crossing Traffic Alert function
Assists the driver when backing up
These functions use same sensors.
Switching the BSM function
The Blind Spot Monitor function and Rear Crossing Traffic Alert function can be
switched on and off using the multi-information display. (P. 364)
When switched on, the BS M indicator illuminates on the meter and the buzzer
sounds.
Outside rear view mirror indicators
Blind Spot Monitor function:
When a vehicle is detected in the blind spot, the outside rear view mirror indicator
comes on while the turn signal lever is not op erated. If the turn signal lever is operated
toward the detected side, the outside rear view mirror indicator flashes.
Rear Crossing Traffic Alert function:
When a vehicle approaching from the right or left rear of the vehicle is detected, the
outside rear view mirror indicators flash.
Rear Crossing Traffic Alert buzzer (Rear Crossing Traffic Alert function only)
When a vehicle approaching from the right or left rear of the vehicle is detected, a
buzzer sounds from behind the rear seat.

Provides integrated control of the ABS, brake assist, TRC, VSC, hill-start

controlling the brakes, engine output, steering assist, and steering ratio
◆Emergency brake signal

■Automatic system cancelation of hill-start assist control
The hill-start assist control will be canc eled in any of the following situations;
●The shift lever is shifted to N or P.
●The accelerator pedal is depressed.
●The parking brake is engaged.
●Approximately 2 seconds elapse after the brake pedal is released.
■Operating conditions of emergency brake signal
When the following three conditions are me t, the emergency brake signal will operate:
●The emergency flashers are off.
●Actual vehicle speed is over 55 km/h (35 mph).
●The brake pedal is depressed in a manner that cause the system to judge from the vehi-
cle deceleration that this is a sudden braking operation.
■Automatic system cancelation of emergency brake signal
The emergency brake signal will turn off in any of the following situations:
●The emergency flashers are turned on.
●The brake pedal is released.
●The system judges from the vehicle deceleration that is not a sudden braking operation.
