For safety and security
■Sounds and vibrations specific to a hybrid vehicle
There may be no engine sound or vibration ev en though the vehicle is able to move with
the “READY” indicator is illuminated. For sa fety, apply the parking brake and make sure
to shift the shift lever to P when parked.
The following sounds or vibrations may occu r when the hybrid system is operating and
are not a malfunction:
●Motor sounds may be heard from the engine compartment.
●Sounds may be heard from the hybrid battery (traction battery) behind the rear seats
when the hybrid system starts or stops.
●Relay operating sounds such as a snap or so ft clank will be emitted from the hybrid bat-
tery (traction battery), behind the rear se ats, when the hybrid system is started or
stopped.
●Sounds from the hybrid system may be heard when the trunk lid is open.
●Sounds may be heard from the transmission when the gasoline engine starts or stops,
when driving at low speeds, or during idling.
●Engine sounds may be heard when accelerating sharply.
●Sounds may be heard due to regenerative braking when the brake pedal is depressed
or as the accelerator pedal is released.
●Vibration may be felt when the gasoline engine starts or stops.
●Cooling fan sounds may be heard from the air intake vents on the both sides of the rear
seatback.
■Maintenance, repair, recycling, and disposal
Contact any authorized Lexus retailer or Lexus authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer regarding maintenance, repair, recy cling and disposal. Do not dispose of the
vehicle yourself.
■Customization
Settings (e.g. on/off operation of the EV indicator) can be changed.

■Switching the door unlock function (vehicles with entry function)
It is possible to set which doors the entry fu nction unlocks using the wireless remote con-
trol.
Turn the power switch off.
Cancel the intrusion sensor and tilt sensor of the alarm system to prevent unintended
triggering of the alarm during the setting change. (if equipped) ( P. 94)
When the indicator light on the key su rface is not on, press and hold or
for approximately 5 seconds while pressing and holding .
The setting changes each time an operatio n is performed, as shown below. (When
changing the setting continuously, release the buttons, wait for at least 5 seconds, and
repeat step .)
For vehicles with alarm: To prevent unintended triggering of the alarm, unlock the doors
using the wireless remote control and open and close a door once after the settings have
been changed. (If a door is not opened within 30 seconds after is pressed, the
doors will be locked again and the alarm will automatically be set.)
In case that the alarm is triggered, immediately stop the alarm. ( P. 92)

■Impact detection door lock release system
In the event that the vehicle is subject to a strong impact, all the doors are unlocked.
Depending on the force of the impact or the type of accident, however, the system may
not operate.
■Using the mechanical key
The doors can also be locked and unlocked with the mechanical key. ( P. 527)
■Conditions affecting the operation of the smart entry & start system or wireless remote

■Customization
Settings (e.g. unlocking function using a key) can be changed.

WARNING
■To prevent an accident
Observe the following precautions while driving the vehicle.
Failure to do so may result in a door openin g and an occupant throwing out of the vehi-
cle, resulting in death or serious injury.
●Ensure that all doors are properly closed.
●Do not pull the inside handle of the doors while driving.
Be especially careful for the front doors, as the doors may be opened even if the
inside lock buttons are in locked position.
●Set the rear door child-protector locks when children are seated in the rear seats.

in the trunk against theft.

■Operation signals
Wireless remote control: A buzzer sounds to indicate that the trunk has been unlocked.
■Trunk light
The trunk light turns on when the trunk is opened.
■Trunk easy closer
In the event that the trunk lid is left slight ly open, the trunk easy closer will automatically
close it to the fully closed position.
■Function to prevent the trunk being locked with the electronic key inside
●When all doors are being locked, closing the tr unk lid with the electronic key left inside
the trunk will sound an alarm.
In this case, the trunk lid can be opened pressing the trunk release button on the tru nk
lid.
●Even when the spare electronic key is put in the trunk with all the doors locked, the key
confinement prevention function can be activated so the trunk can be opened. In order
to prevent theft, take all electronic keys with you when leaving the vehicle.
●Even when the electronic key is put in the trunk with all the doors are locked, the key
may not be detected depending on the places and the surrounding radio wave condi-
tions. In this case, the key confinement prevention function cannot be activated, ca using
the doors to lock when the trunk is closed. Make sure to check where the key is before
closing the trunk.
●The key confinement prevention function cannot be activated if any one of the doors is
unlocked. In this case, open the trunk using the trunk opener.
■Overload protection function (vehicles with power trunk lid)
The trunk lid will not operate when excessive lo ad is present on the top of the trunk lid.
■Fall-down protection function (vehicles with power trunk lid)
While the trunk lid is opening automatically, applying excessive force to it will stop the
opening operation to prevent the trunk lid from rapidly falling down.

The system can be operated when the electronic key is inside the vehic le.
The following operations can be performed simply by carrying the electronic
key (including the card key) on your person, for example in your pocket. The
driver should always carry the electronic key.
