• If an approaching vehicle detected bysensors, the warning is chime and the
warning light will blink on the outside
rearview mirror.
• If the detected vehicle is out of de‐ tection range, moving away in the
opposite direction or moving slow,
the warning is cancelled.
• The system may not be operating properly due to other factors or cir‐
cumstances, so always pay attention to your surrounding.
❈ If the bumper on either side is
blocked by a barrier or vehicles, the
system sensing ability may be de‐
teriorated.
WARNING
•The warning light on the outsiderearview mirror will illuminatewhenever a vehicle is detected atthe rear side by the system.To avoid accidents, do not focusonly on the warning light and ne‐glect to see the surrounding of thevehicle.
•Drive safely even though the vehi‐cle is equipped with a BSD (Blindspot detection) system. Do notsolely rely on the system butcheck for yourself before changinglanes.The system may not alert thedriver in some conditions so al‐ways check the surroundings whiledriving.
CAUTION
•The system may not work proper‐ly if the bumper has been replacedor if a repair work has been donenear the sensor.

•The detection area differs accord‐ing to the roads width. If the roadis narrow the system may detectother vehicles in the second nextlane.
•On the contrary, if the road is verywide the system may not detectother vehicles in the next lane.
•The system might be turned offdue to strong electromagneticwaves.
Non-operating condition
Outside rearview mirror may not alert
the driver when:
- The outside rearview mirror housing
is damaged or covered with debris.
- The window is covered with debris.
- The windows are severely tinted.
Driver's attention
The driver must be cautious in the be‐
low situations, because the system may not detect other vehicles or ob‐
jects in certain circumstances.
- The vehicle drives on a curved road or
through a tollgate. -
The sensor is polluted with rain,
snow, mud, etc.
- The rear bumper, in which the sensor
is located, is covered or blocked with
a foreign matter such as a sticker, a bumper guard, a bicycle stand, etc.
- The rear bumper is damaged, or the
sensor is out of the original default
position.
- The vehicle height gets lower or high‐
er due to heavy loading in a trunk,
abnormal tire pressure, etc.
- The vehicle drives in a bad weather
such as heavy rain or snow.
- There is a fixed object near the vehi‐
cle, such as a guardrail.
- A big vehicle is near such as a bus or
truck.
- A motorcycle or bicycle is near.
- A flat trailer is near.
- If the vehicle has started at the same
time as the vehicle next to you and has accelerated.
- When the other vehicle passes at a
very fast speed.
- While changing lanes. -
While going down or up a steep road
where the height of the lane is differ‐ ent.
- When the other vehicle approaches
very close.
- When a trailer or carrier is installed.
- When the temperature of the rear
bumper is high.
- When the sensors are blocked by
other vehicles, walls or parking-lot
pillars.
- When the detected vehicle also
moves back, as your vehicle drives
back.
- If there are small things like shopping
cart and baby carriage.
- If there is low height vehicle like sport
vehicle.
- When other vehicles are close to your
vehicle.
- When the vehicle in the next lane
moves two lanes away from you OR
when the vehicle two lanes away moves to the next lane from you.

When the tire pressure monitoring sys‐
tem warning indicators are illuminated and warning massage displayed on the
cluster LCD display, one or more of
your tires is significantly under-infla‐ ted. The low tire pressure position tell‐
tale light will indicate which tire is sig‐
nificantly under-inflated by illuminating the corresponding position light.
If either telltale illuminates, immediate‐
ly reduce your speed, avoid hard cor‐
nering and anticipate increased stop‐ ping distances. You should stop and
check your tires as soon as possible. In‐
flate the tires to the proper pressure as
indicated on the vehicle’s placard or tire inflation pressure label located on the
driver’s side center pillar outer panel. If
you cannot reach a service station or if the tire cannot hold the newly added
air, replace the low pressure tire with a
spare tire.
If you drive the vehicle for about 10 mi‐ nutes at speeds above 25 km/h after
replacing the low pressure tire with the
spare tire, one of the following will hap‐ pen: • The TPMS malfunction indicator may
blink for approximately 1 minute and
then remain continuously illuminated
because the TPMS sensor is not
mounted on the spare wheel. (changed tire equipped with a sensor

• The TPMS malfunction indicator will remain continuously illuminated while
driving because the TPMS sensor is

CAUTION
In winter or cold weather, the lowtire pressure telltale may illuminateif the tire pressure was adjusted tothe recommended tire inflation pres‐sure in warm weather. It does notmean your TPMS is malfunctioningbecause the decreased temperatureleads to a lowering of tire pressure.When you drive your vehicle from awarm area to a cold area or from acold area to a warm area, or theoutside temperature is higher orlower, you should check the tire in‐flation pressure and adjust the tires

nLow pressure damage
Significantly low tire pressure makesthe vehicle unstable and can contrib‐ute to loss of vehicle control and in‐creased braking distances.Continued driving on low pressuretires can cause the tires to overheatand fail.

The TPMS malfunction indi‐ cator will illuminate after it blinks for
approximately one minute when there is a problem with the Tire Pressure
Monitoring System.
We recommend that the system be
checked by an authorized Kia dealer to determine the cause of the problem.

Changing a tire with TPMS
If you have a flat tire, the low Tire
Pressure and Position telltales will come on. We recommend that the sys‐
tem be checked by an authorized Kia
dealer.
CAUTION
We recommend that you use thesealant approved by Kia.The sealant on the tire pressuresensor and wheel shall be eliminatedwhen you replace the tire with a newone.
Each wheel is equipped with a tire pres‐
sure sensor mounted inside the tire be‐ hind the valve stem. You must use
TPMS specific wheels. It is recommen‐
ded that you have your tires serviced by an authorized Kia dealer.
If you drive the vehicle for about 10 mi‐
nutes at speeds above 25 km/h after

You may not be able to identify a low
tire by simply looking at it. Always use a good quality tire pressure gauge to
measure the tire's inflation pressure.
Please note that a tire that is hot (from being driven) will have a higher pres‐
sure measurement than a tire that is
cold (from sitting stationary for at least 3 hours and driven less than
1.6 km (1 mile) during that 3 hour peri‐
od).
Allow the tire to cool before measuring the inflation pressure. Always be sure
the tire is cold before inflating to the
recommended pressure.
A cold tire means the vehicle has been sitting for 3 hours and driven for less
than 1.6 km (1 mile) in that 3 hour peri‐od.
CAUTION
We recommend that you use thesealant approved by Kia if your vehi‐cle is equipped with a Tire PressureMonitoring System. The liquid seal‐ant can damage the tire pressuresensors.
WARNING
nTPMS
•The TPMS cannot alert you to se‐vere and sudden tire damagecaused by external factors such asnails or road debris.
•If you feel any vehicle instability,immediately take your foot off theaccelerator, apply the brakes grad‐ually and with light force, andslowly move to a safe position offthe road.

Tampering with, modifying, or disa‐bling the Tire Pressure MonitoringSystem (TPMS) components may in‐terfere with the system's ability towarn the driver of low tire pressureconditions and/or TPMS malfunc‐tions. Tampering with, modifying, ordisabling the Tire Pressure Monitor‐ing System (TPMS) components mayvoid the warranty for that portion ofthe vehicle.

Distributing the sealant
11. Immediately drive approximately7~10 km (4~6 miles or, about 10
min) to evenly distribute the seal‐
ant in the tire.
CAUTION
Do not exceed a speed of 80 km/h(50 mph). If possible, do not fall be‐low a speed of 20 km/h (12 mph).While driving, if you experience anyunusual vibration, ride disturbanceor noise, reduce your speed anddrive with caution until you cansafely pull off of the side of theroad. Call for road side service ortowing.

When you use the Tire Mobility Kit,the tire pressure sensors and wheelmay be stained by sealant. There‐fore, remove the tire pressure sen‐sors and wheel stained by sealantand we recommend to have it in‐spected by an authorized Kia dealer.
Checking the tire inflation

1. After driving approximately 7~10 km (4~6 miles, or about 10
minutes), stop at a suitable loca‐
tion. 2. Connect connection hose (10) of
the compressor directly to the tire
valve.
3. Connect between compressor and the vehicle battery using the cable
and connectors.
4. Adjust the tire inflation pressure to 200 kPa (29 psi). With the ignition
switched on, proceed as follows. -
To increase the inflation pres‐sure: Switch on the compressor,
position I. To check the current
inflation pressure setting, briefly switch off the compressor.
WARNING
Do not let the compressor run formore than 10 minutes, otherwisethe device will overheat and may bedamaged.
-To reduce the inflation pressure:
Press the button (9) on the com‐
pressor.
