As with other vehicles with features for
off-road use, failure to operate all-wheel
drive models correctly may result in loss of
control or an accident. For additional infor-
mation, refer to “Driving safety precau-
tions” in the “Starting and driving” section
of this manual.
ON-PAVEMENT AND OFF-ROAD DRIV-
ING
This vehicle will handle and maneuver
differently from an ordinary passenger
car because it has a higher center of
gravity for off-road use. As with other
vehicles with features of this type, fail-
ure to operate this vehicle correctly may
result in loss of control or an accident.

MODIFICATION OF YOUR VEHICLE
This vehicle should not be modified.
Modification could affect its
performance, safety or durability and may
even violate governmental regulations. In

lems resulting from modifications may

port during normal driving, for example
remote insurance company monitoring,
remote vehicle diagnostics, telematics or

less specifically approved by INFINITI. The
vehicle warranty may not cover damage

Light Off Delay Allows the user to change the duration of time, from 0 to 180 seconds, that the automatic headlights stay on after the vehicle is shut off
Rain Sensor (if so equipped) Allows user to turn the rain sensor on or off. For additional information, refer to “Wiper and washer switch” in this section.
Wiper with Speed Allows user to turn the wiper with speed feature on or off. For additional information, refer to Wiper and washer switch” in this section.
I-Key Door Lock Allows user to turn the I-Key door lock on or off. When this item is turned on, the request switch on the door is activated.
Selective Unlock Allows user to turn selective unlock on or off. When turned on, only the driver’s door is unlocked after the door unlock operation. Whe n
the door handle request switch on the driver’s or front passenger’s side door is pushed to be unlocked, only the corresponding door is
unlocked first. All the doors can be unlocked if the door unlock operation is performed again within 1 minute. When this item is turned
off, all the doors will be unlocked after the door unlock operation is performed once.
Auto Door Unlock Displays the options for the auto door unlock
Off Doors will have to be manually unlocked
IGN Off Doors will unlock when the ignition is turned off
Shift into P Doors will unlock when the vehicle is shifted into P (Park)
Answer Back Horn Allows user to turn answer back horn on or off. When turned on, the horn will chirp and the hazard indicators will flash once when locking
the vehicle with the Intelligent Key. For additional information, refer to “Answer back horn feature” in the “Pre-driving checks and adjust-
ments” section of this manual.
Remote Start (if so equipped) Allows user to turn the remote start on or off. When turned off, the vehicle cannot be started using the Intelligent Key.
Battery Saver Allows the user to turn the battery saver feature on or off. When turned on, this feature will turn off the ignition switch after a period of
time if left in the ACC or ON position.
Exit Seat Slide (if so equipped) Allows the user to turn the exit seat slide on or off. When turned on, this feature will move the driver’s seat backward for an easy exit
when the ignition is turned off and the driver’s door is opened. After getting into the vehicle and placing the ignition switch in the ACC
position, the driver’s seat will move to the previous set position. For additional information, refer to “Automatic drive positioner” in the
“Pre-driving checks and adjustments” section of this manual.
Exit Steering Up (if so equipped) Allows the user to turn the exit steering up feature on or off. When turned on, this feature will move the steering wheel upward for an
easy exit when the ignition is turned off and the driver’s door is opened. After getting into the vehicle and placing the ignition switch in
the ACC position, the steering wheel moves to the previous position. For additional information, refer to “Automatic drive positioner” in
the “Pre-driving checks and adjustments” section of this manual.

Key ID Incorrect
This warning appears when the ignition switch is
placed from the OFF position and the Intelligent
Key is not recognized by the system. You cannot
start the engine with an unregistered key.
For additional information, refer to “INFINITI Intel-
ligent Key System” in the “Pre-driving checks and
adjustments” section of this manual.
Key Battery Low
This indicator illuminates when the Intelligent Key
battery is running out of power.
If this indicator illuminates, replace the battery
with a new one. For additional information, refer
to “Battery replacement” in the “Do-it-yourself”
section of this manual.
I-Key System Error: See Owner’s Manual
After the ignition switch is pushed to the ON
position, this light comes on for a period of time
and then turns off.
The I-Key System Error message warns of a
malfunction with the Intelligent Key system. If the
light comes on while the engine is stopped, it may
be impossible to start the engine.If the light comes on while the engine is running,
you can drive the vehicle. However in these
cases, have the system checked. It is recom-
mended that you visit an INFINITI retailer for this
service.
Key Registration Complete
This appears when a new Intelligent Key is regis-
tered to the vehicle.
Push brake and start switch to drive
This indicator appears when the shift lever is in
the P (Park) position.
This indicator also appears when the vehicle has
been started using the remote start (if so
equipped) function.
This indicator means that the engine will start by
pushing the ignition switch with the brake pedal
depressed. You can start the engine from any
position of the ignition switch.
Push Ignition to OFF
After the Push ignition to OFF warning illumi-
nates, the warning will illuminate if the ignition
switch is placed in the ACC position when the
shift lever is moved to the P (Park) position.
To turn off the Push warning, place the ignition
switch in the ON position and then in the LOCK
position.Shift to Park
This warning illuminates when the ignition switch
is in the ACC or OFF position and the shift lever
is in any position other than P (Park) . Also, a
chime sounds when the ignition switch is in the
OFF position.
If this warning illuminates, move the shift lever to
the P (Park) position or start the engine.

Engine start operation for Intelligent Key
system (if I-Key battery level is low)
This indicator appears when the battery of the
Intelligent Key is low and when the Intelligent Key
system and the vehicle are not communicating
normally.
If this appears, touch the ignition switch with the
Intelligent Key while depressing the brake pedal.
For additional information, refer to “INFINITI Intel-
ligent Key battery discharge” in the “Starting and
driving” section of this manual.
Release Parking Brake
This warning illuminates in the message area of
the vehicle information display when the parking
brake is set and the vehicle is driven.

WARNING
●Radio waves could adversely affect
electric medical equipment. Those who
use a pacemaker should contact the
electric medical equipment manufac-
turer for the possible influences before
use.
● The Intelligent Key transmits radio
waves when the buttons are pressed.
The FAA advises the radio waves may
affect aircraft navigation and communi-
cation systems. Do not operate the In-
telligent Key while on an airplane. Make
sure the buttons are not operated unin-
tentionally when the unit is stored for a
flight.
The Intelligent Key system can operate all the
door locks using the remote control function or
pushing the request switch on the vehicle without
taking the key out from a pocket or purse. The
operating environment and/or conditions may af-
fect the Intelligent Key system operation.
Be sure to read the following before using the
Intelligent Key system.
CAUTION
● Be sure to carry the Intelligent Key with
you when operating the vehicle.
● Never leave the Intelligent Key in the
vehicle when you leave the vehicle.
The Intelligent Key is always communicating with
the vehicle as it receives radio waves. The Intel-
ligent Key system transmits weak radio waves.
Environmental conditions may interfere with the
operation of the Intelligent Key system under the
following operating conditions: ● When operating near a location where
strong radio waves are transmitted, such as
a TV tower, power station and broadcasting
station.
● When in possession of wireless equipment,
such as a cellular telephone, transceiver or a
CB radio.
● When the Intelligent Key is in contact with or
covered by metallic materials.
● When any type of radio wave remote control
is used nearby.
● When the Intelligent Key is placed near an
electric appliance such as a personal com-
puter. ●
When the vehicle is parked near a parking
meter.
In such cases, correct the operating conditions
before using the Intelligent Key function or use
the mechanical key.
Although the life of the battery varies depending
on the operating conditions, the battery’s life is
approximately two years. If the battery is dis-
charged, replace it with a new one.
When the Intelligent Key battery is low, an indi-
cator illuminates in the vehicle information dis-
play. For additional information, refer to “Vehicle
information display” in the “Instruments and con-
trols” section of this manual.
Since the Intelligent Key is continuously receiving
radio waves, if the key is left near equipment
which transmits strong radio waves, such as sig-
nals from a TV and personal computer, the bat-
tery life may become shorter.
For additional information, refer to “Battery re-
placement” in the “Maintenance and do-it-
yourself” section of this manual.
As many as four Intelligent Keys can be regis-
tered and used with one vehicle. For information
about the purchase and use of additional Intelli-
gent Keys, it is recommended that you visit an
INFINITI retailer.

Unlocking doors
1. Carry the Intelligent Key.
2. Push the door handle request switch.
3. The hazard indicator lights flash once andthe outside buzzer sounds once.
4. Push the door handle request switch again within 1 minute to unlock all doors.
For power liftgate opening: 1. Carry the Intelligent Key.
2. Press the power liftgate request switch. NOTE:
Request switches for all doors and liftgate
can be deactivated when the I-Key Door
Lock setting is switched to OFF in the ve-
hicle settings of the vehicle information
display. For additional information, refer to
“Vehicle information display” in the “In-
struments and controls” section of this
manual.
If a door handle is pulled while unlocking the
doors, that door may not be unlocked. Returning
the door handle to its original position will unlock
the door. If the door does not unlock after return- ing the door handle, push the door handle re-
quest switch to unlock the door.
All doors will be locked automatically unless one
of the following operations is performed within
1 minute after pushing the request switch.
● Opening any door.
● Pushing the ignition switch.
The interior light timer illuminates for a period of
time when a door is unlocked and the room light
switch is in the DOOR position.
The interior light can be turned off without waiting
by performing one of the following operations: ● Placing the ignition switch in the ON posi-
tion.
● Locking the doors with the remote control.
● Switching the room light switch to the OFF
position.
● Switching the Auto Room Lamp to the OFF
position in vehicle settings of the vehicle
information display. For additional informa-
tion, refer to “Vehicle information display” in
the “Instruments and controls” section of this
manual.

Thebutton will be on the INFINITI Intelli-
gent Key if the vehicle has remote engine start.
This feature allows the engine to start from out-
side the vehicle.
The following features may be affected when the
remote start feature is used:
● Vehicles with an automatic climate control
system will default to either a heating or
cooling mode depending on the outside
temperature.
● Vehicles without automatic climate control
will default to the last used heating or cool-
ing mode. Laws in some local communities may restrict the
use of remote starters. For example, some laws
require a person using remote start to have the
vehicle in view. Check local regulations for any
requirements.
Other conditions may affect the function of the
Remote Engine Start feature. For additional infor-
mation, refer to “Conditions the remote start will
not work” in this section.
Other conditions can affect the performance of
the Intelligent Key transmitter. For additional in-
formation, refer to “INFINITI Intelligent Key Sys-
tem” in this section.REMOTE ENGINE START
OPERATING RANGE
The remote engine start function can only be
used when the Intelligent Key is within the speci-
fied operating range from the vehicle.
When the Intelligent Key battery is discharged or
other strong radio wave sources are present near
the operating location, the Intelligent Key operat-
ing range becomes narrower, and the Intelligent
Key may not function properly.
The remote engine start operating range is ap-
proximately 197 ft (60 m) from the vehicle.
REMOTE STARTING THE VEHICLE
To use the remote start feature to start the engine
perform the following:
1. Aim the Intelligent Key at the vehicle.
2. Press the
LOCK button to lock all
doors.
3. Within 5 seconds press and hold the
remote start button until the turn signal lights
flash and the tail lamps turn on. If the vehicle
is not within view press and hold the
remote start button for at least 2 seconds.
The following events will occur when the engine
starts:
● The parking lights will turn on and remain on
as long as the engine is running.
● The doors will be locked and the climate
control system may come on.
● The engine will continue to run for 10 min-
utes. Repeat the steps to extend the time for
an additional 10 minutes. For additional in-
formation, refer to “Extending engine run
time” in this section.

●The alarm sounds due to illegal entry into the
vehicle.
● Two remote vehicle starts, or a single remote
start with an extension, have already been
used.
● The vehicle is not in P (Park) .
● There is a detected registered key already
inside of the vehicle.
● The remote start function has been switched
to the OFF position in vehicle settings of the
vehicle information display. For additional
information, refer to “Vehicle information dis-
play” in the “Instruments and controls” sec-
tion of this manual.
The remote engine start may display a warning or
indicator in the vehicle information display. For
additional information, refer to “Vehicle informa-
tion display” in the “Instruments and controls”
section of this manual. 1. Pull the hood lock release handle

below the driver side instrument panel. The
hood will spring up slightly.
2. Push the lever
2at the front of the hood to
the side as illustrated with your fingertips
and raise the hood.
When closing the hood, lower it slowly and make
sure it locks into place.
WARNING
● Make sure the hood is completely
closed and latched before driving. Fail-
ure to do so could cause the hood to fly
open and result in an accident.
● If you see steam or smoke coming from
the engine compartment, to avoid injury
do not open the hood.

To turn on the automatic anti-glare feature, press
the | button again. The indicator light will turn
on.
For information on HomeLink® Universal Trans-
ceiver operation, refer to “HomeLink® Universal
Transceiver” in the “Instruments and controls”
section of this manual.
NOTE:
Do not hang any objects over the sensors
1or apply glass cleaner to the sensors.
Doing so will reduce the sensitivity of the
sensors, resulting in improper operation.
OUTSIDE MIRRORS
The outside mirror remote control will operate
only when the ignition switch is in the ACC or ON
position.
Move the small switch
1to select the left or right
mirror. Adjust each mirror to the desired position
using the large switch
2.
WARNING
● Objects viewed in the outside mirror on
the passenger side are closer than they
appear. Be careful when moving to the
right. Using only this mirror could cause
an accident. Use the inside mirror or
glance over your shoulder to properly
judge distances to other objects.
● Do not adjust the mirrors while driving.
You could lose control of your vehicle
and cause an accident.
