LIGHTS AND AUDIBLE REMINDERS

Supplemental air bag warninglight
When the ignition switch is placed in the ON
position, the supplemental air bag warning light
illuminates for about 7 seconds and then turns
off. This means the system is operational.
If any of the following conditions occur, the front
air bag, front seat-mounted side-impact air bag,
roof-mounted curtain air bag and pretensioner
systems need servicing:
● The supplemental air bag warning light re-
mains on after approximately 7 seconds.
● The supplemental air bag warning light
flashes intermittently.
● The supplemental air bag warning light does
not come on at all.
It is recommended that you visit an INFINITI re-
tailer for these services. Unless checked and
repaired, the supplemental restraint system (air
bag system) and/or the pretensioner systems
may not function properly. For additional informa-
tion, refer to “Supplemental Restraint System
(SRS)” in the “Safety—Seats, seat belts and
supplemental restraint system” section of this
manual.
WARNING
If the supplemental air bag warning light
is on, it could mean that the front air bag,
side air bag, curtain air bag systems
and/or pretensioner systems will not op-
erate in an accident. To help avoid injury to
yourself or others, have your vehicle
checked. It is recommended that you visit
an INFINITI retailer for this service.
INDICATOR LIGHTS
For additional information, refer to “Vehicle infor-
mation display” in this section.
Approaching Vehicle Sound for Pedestrians (VSP) OFF
indicator light
This light comes on if there is a malfunction in the
Approaching Vehicle Sound for Pedestrians
(VSP) system.
EV indicator light
This illuminates when the engine stops but the
vehicle is running.
Front fog light indicator light
The front fog light indicator light illuminates when
the front fog lights are on. For additional informa-
tion, refer to “Fog light switch” in this section.
Front passenger air bag statuslight
The front passenger air bag status light will be lit
and the passenger front air bag will be off de-
pending on how the front passenger seat is being
used.
For additional information, refer to “Front passen-
ger air bag and status light” in the “Safety —
Seats, seat belts and supplemental restraint sys-
tem” section of this manual.
High beam assist indicator light(green) (if so equipped)
This indicator light illuminates when the head-
lights come on while the headlight switch is in the
AUTO position with the high beams selected.
This indicates that the high beam assist is opera-
tional.
For additional information, refer to “Headlight and
turn signal switch” in this section.
Instruments and controls2-13
Be sure you do not put anything on top of
the autolight sensor located in the top side
1of the instrument panel. The autolight
sensor controls the autolight; if it is cov-
ered, the autolight sensor reacts as if it is
dark out and the headlights will illuminate.
If this occurs while parked with the engine
off and the ignition switch placed in the ON
position, your vehicle’s battery could be-
come discharged.
Headlight beam select
1To select the high beam function, push the
lever forward. The high beam lights come on
and the
light illuminates.
2Pull the lever back to select the low beam.
3Pulling and releasing the lever flashes the
headlight high beams on and off.
High beam assist (if so equipped)
The high beam assist system will operate when
the vehicle is driven at speeds of approximately
25 mph (40 km/h) and above. If an oncoming
vehicle or leading vehicle appears in front of your vehicle when the headlight high beam is on, the
headlight will be switched to the low beam auto-
matically.
WARNING
●
The high beam assist system is a con-
venience but it is not a substitute for
safe driving operation. The driver
should remain alert at all times, ensure
safe driving practices and switch the
high beams and low beam manually
when necessary.
● The high beam or low beam may not
switch automatically under the follow-
ing conditions. Switch the high beam
and low beam manually.
– During bad weather (rain, fog, snow, wind, etc.) .
– When a light source similar to a headlight or tail light is in the vicinity
of the vehicle.
– When the headlights of the oncom- ing vehicle or the leading vehicle are
turned off, when the color of the light
is affected due to foreign materials
on the lights, or when the light beam
is out of position.
