Operating tips
A number of tips and recommendations to
enable you to get the most out of your auto-
matic climate control are listed below:
•Activate climate control using theandbuttons. The indicator lamps in theandbuttons light up.
•Set the temperature to 70oF (22oC)
•Only use theWindshield demistingfunc-
tion briefly until the windshield is clear
again.
•Only use air-recirculation mode briefly, e.g.
if there are unpleasant outside odors or
when in a tunnel. The windows could other-
wise mist up as no fresh air is drawn into the
vehicle in air-recirculation modeNAA1705

•Use thefunction to adopt the tem-
perature settings on the driver’s side for the
front-passenger side as well. The indicator
lamp in the
button goes out.
•If you change the settings of the climate
control system, the climate status display
appears for approximately three seconds at
the bottom of the screen in the center display
(see separate operating instructions). You
will see the current settings of the various
climate control functions.
Idle Stop/Start function
During automatic engine switch-off, the Climate
control only operates at a reduced capacity. If
you require the full climate control output, you
can switch off the Idle Stop/Start function by
pressing the ECO button (seeIdle Stop/Start
System (if equipped)in the5. Starting and
drivingsection).
Switching automatic climate control
on/off
When the climate control is switched off, the air
supply and air circulation are also switched off.
The windows could mist up. Therefore, only
switch off climate control briefly.
Make sure the ignition switch is in the ON
position.To activate
:
Press thebutton The indicator lamp in
thebutton lights up. Airflow and air
distribution are set to automatic mode.
or
Press the
button. The indicator lamp in
thebutton goes out. The previous set-
tings are reactivated.
To deactivate
:
Press thebutton. The indicator lamp in
thebutton lights up.
NOTE
Automatic climate control: switch on climate
control primarily using the
button.
Activating/deactivating the cooling
with air dehumidification function
If you deactivate theCooling with air dehumidifi-
cationfunction, the air inside the vehicle will not
be cooled. The air inside the vehicle will also not
be dehumidified. The windows can mist up more
quickly. Therefore, only deactivate theCooling
with air dehumidificationfunction briefly.
TheCooling with air dehumidificationfunction
is only available when the engine is running.
The air inside the vehicle is cooled and dehu-
midified according to the temperature selected.Condensation may drip from the underside of
the vehicle when cooling mode is active. This is
normal and not a sign that there is a malfunc-
tion.
To activate
:
Press thebutton The indicator lamp in
thebutton lights up.
To deactivate
:
Press thebutton. The indicator lamp in
thebutton goes out. The cooling with air
dehumidification function has a delayed switch-
off feature.
Problems with theCooling with air dehumidifi-
cationfunction
:
Problem:The indicator lamp in thebutton flashes three times or remains off. The
cooling with air dehumidification function can-
not be activated.
Cause and solution:The cooling with air dehu-
midification function has been deactivated due
to a malfunction. Have the system checked. It is
recommended you visit an INFINITI retailer for
this service.

Setting automatic climate control to
automatic mode
Only automatic climate control features the
Control climate control automaticallyfunction.
In automatic mode, the set temperature is
maintained automatically at a constant level
The system automatically regulates the tem-
perature of the dispensed air, the airflow and
the air distribution.
The automatic mode functions optimally when
theCooling with air dehumidificationfunction
is activated. If desired, cooling with air dehu-
midification can be deactivated.
If you deactivate theCooling with air-
dehumidificationfunction, the air inside the
vehicle will not be cooled. The air inside the
vehicle will also not be dehumidified. The win-
dows can mist up more quickly. Therefore, only
deactivate theCooling with air-
dehumidificationfunction briefly.
To set climate control to automatic mode
:
Make sure the ignition switch is in the ON
position.
Set the desired temperature.
To activate: press the
button The indica-
tor lamp in thebutton lights up. Auto-
matic air distribution and airflow are activated.To switch to manual mode: press the
orbutton
or
Press the
orbutton. The indicator
lamp in thebutton goes out. Automatic
air distribution and airflow are deactivated.
Setting the temperature
Different temperatures can be set for the driv-
er’s and front-passenger sides. The set tem-
perature is automatically maintained at a con-
stant level.
Make sure the ignition switch is in the ON
position.
To increase or reduce temperature: turn control
1or9counterclockwise or clockwise. Only
change the temperature setting in small incre-
ments. Start at 70
oF (22oC).
Setting the air distribution
Directs the airflow through the demis-
ter ventilators.
Directs the airflow through the center
and side air ventilators.
Directs the airflow through the footwell
air ventilators.
Directs the airflow through the center
and side air ventilators as well as the
footwell air ventilators.
Directs the airflow through the center
and side air ventilators as well as the
demister ventilators.
Directs the airflow through the footwell
and demister ventilators.
Directs the airflow through the demis-
ter ventilators, the center and side air
ventilators as well as the footwell air
ventilators.
NOTE
Regardless of the air distribution setting, airflow
is always directed through the side air ventila-
tors. The side air ventilators can only be closed if
the adjusters are turned clockwise until they
engage.
To set the air distribution:
1. Make sure the engine is running.
2. Press the
orbutton repeatedly
until the desired symbol appears in the
display.
Setting the airflow
1. Make sure the ignition switch is in the ON
position.
2. To increase or reduce airflow: press the
orbutton.

Switching the ZONE function on/off
This function is only available with automatic
climate control.
To activate:press the
button. The indi-
cator light in thebutton lights up. The
temperature setting for the driver’s side is not
adopted for the front-passenger side.
To deactivate:press the
button. The
indicator lamp in thebutton goes out.
The temperature setting for the driver’s side is
adopted for the front-passenger side.
Defogging the windshield
You can use this function to de-ice the wind-
shield or to defog the inside of the windshield
and the side windows.
NOTE
You should only select theWindshield demist-
ingfunction until the windshield is clear again.
Activating theWindshield demistingfunction
:
Make sure the ignition switch is in the ON
position.
To activate: press the

•High airflow

NOTE
•TheWindshield demistingfunction auto-
matically sets the blower output to the opti-
mum demisting effect. As a result, the airflow
may increase or decrease automatically after
the
button is pressed.
•You can adjust the blower output manually
while theWindshield demistingfunction is
in operation. Press the
orbutton.
Deactivating theWindshield demistingfunction:
Press thebutton. The indicator lamp in
thebutton goes out. The previous set-
tings are reactivated Air-recirculation mode re-
mains deactivated.

Air recirculation mode
You can deactivate the flow of fresh air if
unpleasant odors are entering the vehicle from
outside. The air already inside the vehicle will
then be recirculated.
If you activate air-recirculation mode, the windows
can mist up more quickly, in particular at low
temperatures. Only use air recirculation mode
briefly to prevent the windows misting up.

Activating air recirculation mode:
Make sure the ignition switch is in the ON
position.
Press the
button. The indicator light in
thebutton lights up.
Air-recirculation mode is activated automati-
cally at high outside temperatures or high
levels of pollution. When air-recirculation mode
is activated automatically, the indicator light in
the
button is not lit. Outside air is added
after about 30 minutes.
Deactivating air recirculation mode
:
Press thebutton. The indicator light in
thebutton goes out.
NOTE
Air-recirculation mode is deactivated automati-
cally:
•After approximately five minutes at outside
temperatures below approximately 45oF(7oC).
•After approximately five minutes if theCool-
ing with air dehumidificationfunction is
deactivated.
•After approximately 30 minutes at outside
temperatures above approximately 45oF(7oC) if the cooling with air dehumidification
function is activated.
SERVICING AIR CONDITIONER
WARNING
The air conditioner system contains refriger-
ant under high pressure. To avoid personal in-
jury, any air conditioner service should be
done only by an experienced technician with
the proper equipment.
The air conditioner system in your vehicle is
charged with a refrigerant designed with the
environment in mind.
This refrigerant will not harm the earth’s ozone
layer.
Special charging equipment and lubricant are
required when servicing your vehicle’s air con-
ditioner. Using improper refrigerants or lubri-
cants will cause severe damage to the air
conditioner system. (SeeAir conditioner sys-
tem refrigerant and oil recommendationsin the
9. Maintenance and Schedulessection.)
An INFINITI retailer will be able to service your
environmentally friendly air conditioner system.
Air conditioner filter
The air conditioner system is equipped with an
air conditioner filter. To make sure the air
conditioner heats, defogs, and ventilates effi-
ciently, replace the filter in accordance with the
specified maintenance intervals listed in the
separate maintenance booklet. It is recom-
mended you visit an INFINITI retailer for this
service.
The filter should be replaced if the air flow
decreases significantly or if windows fog up
easily when operating the heater or air condi-
tioner.

FM radio reception
MAXIMUM SIGNAL DISTANCES
•FM : 25 to 30 miles (40 to 48 km)
•AM : 60 to 130 miles (97 to 209 km)
Range: FM range is normally limited to 25 to 30
miles (40 to 48 km), with monaural (single
station) FM having slightly more range than
stereo FM. External influences may sometimes
interfere with FM station reception even if the
FM station is within 25 miles (40 km). The
strength of the FM signal is directly related to
the distance between the transmitter and re-
ceiver. FM signals follow a line-of-sight path,
exhibiting many of the same characteristics as
light. For example they will reflect off objects.
Fade and drift: As your vehicle moves away from
a station transmitter, the signals will tend to
fade and/or drift.Static and flutter: During signal interference
from buildings, large hills or due to antenna
position, usually in conjunction with an in-
creased distance from the station transmitter,
static or flutter can be heard. This can be
reduced by lowering the treble setting to reduce
the treble response.
Multipath reception: Because of the reflective
characteristics of FM signals, direct and re-
flected signals reach the receiver at the same
time. The signals may cancel each other, result-
ing in momentary flutter or loss of sound.
AM radio reception
AM signals, because of their low frequency, can
bend around objects and skip along the ground.
In addition, the signals can bounce off the
ionosphere and be bent back to earth. Because
of these characteristics, AM signals are also
subject to interference as they travel from trans-
mitter to receiver.
Fading: This occurs while the vehicle is passing
through freeway underpasses or in areas with
many tall buildings. It can also occur for several
seconds during ionospheric turbulence even in
areas where no obstacles exist.
Static: Caused by thunderstorms, electrical
power lines, electric signs and even traffic
lights.
HD RadioTMTechnology reception
(for U.S.)
HD RadioTMTechnology reception needs to be
activated to receive HD Radio broadcasts, see
Audio settingslater in this section.
This enables you to receive radio broadcasts
digitally (where available), providing a better
quality sound with clear reception. When this
feature is not activated or HD Radio broadcasts
are not available, you will receive analog radio
(AM/FM) broadcasts.
Satellite radio reception
When the satellite radio is used for the first time
or the battery has been replaced, the satellite
radio may not work properly. This is not a
malfunction. Wait more than 10 minutes with
the satellite radio ON and the vehicle outside of
any metal or large building for the satellite
radio to receive all of the necessary data.
The satellite radio requires an active SiriusXM
Satellite Radio subscription. The satellite ser-
vice is a available only to those at least 18 and
older in the 48 contiguous United States.
The satellite radio performance may be affected
if cargo carried on the roof blocks the satellite
radio signal.

If possible, do not put cargo near the satellite
antenna.
The build up of ice on the satellite radio an-
tenna can affect satellite radio performance.
Remove the ice to restore satellite radio recep-
tion.

Compact Disc (CD) player
•Do not force a compact disc into the CD
insert slot. This could damage the CD and/or
CD player.
•Trying to load a CD with the CD door closed
could damage the CD and/or CD player.
•During cold or rainy weather, the player may
malfunction due to the humidity. If this oc-
curs, remove the CD and dehumidify or ven-
tilate the player completely.
•The player may skip while driving on rough
roads.
•The CD player sometimes cannot function
when the passenger compartment tempera-
ture is extremely high. Decrease the tem-
perature before use.
•Only use high quality 4.7 in (12 cm) round
discs that have the “COMPACT disc DIGITAL
AUDIO” logo on the disc or packaging.
•Do not expose the CD to direct sunlight.
•CDs that are of poor quality, are dirty,
scratched, or covered with fingerprints, or
that have pin holes may not work properly.
•The following CDs may not work properly:
– Copy control compact discs (CCCD)
– Recordable compact discs (CD-R)
– Rewritable compact discs (CD-RW)
•Do not use the following CDs as they may
cause the CD player to malfunction.
– 3.1 in (8 cm) discs
– CDs that are not round
– CDs with a paper label
– CDs that are warped, scratched, or have
abnormal edges
•This audio system can only play prerecorded
CDs. It has no capabilities to record or burn
CDs.
•If a CD cannot be played, one of the follow-
