HOW TO ENABLE/DISABLE THE LDW
SYSTEM
1. Press theorbutton on the
steering wheel
1to select the [DriveAssist]
menu on the Menu bar

2. Press the
orbutton to select
[Lane Departure Warning].
3. Press thebutton on the steering wheel
1. The current selection is displayed.
4. Press theto confirm.
5. Press the
orbutton to set [Off],
[Standard] or [Adaptive].
6. Press thebutton to save the setting.
When the LDW is activated, the vehicle
information display shows the lane mark-ings as bright lines in the assistance graphic
in the display area

When [Standard] is selected, no warning vibra-
tion occurs if:
•You have switched on the turn signals. In
this event, the warnings are suppressed for a
certain period of time.
•A driving safety system intervenes, such as
ABS, brake assist system (BAS) or VDC.
When [Adaptive] is selected, no warning vibra-
tion occurs if:
•You have switched on the turn signals. In
this case the warnings are suppressed for a
certain period of time.
•A driving system intervenes, such as ABS,
BAS or VDC.
•You accelerate forcefully.
•You brake forcefully.
•You steer actively, for example, swerve to
avoid an obstacle or change lane quickly.
•You cut the corner on a sharp bend.
The system may detect certain conditions and
warns you accordingly.The warning vibration occurs earlier if:
•You approach the outer lane marking on a
bend.
•The road has very wide lanes, for example, a
freeway.
•The system detects solid lane markings.
The warning vibration occurs later if:
•The road has narrow lanes.
•You cut across a corner on a bend.
LDW SYSTEM LIMITATIONS
WARNING
Listed below are the system limitations for the
LDW system. Failure to operate the vehicle in
accordance with these system limitations
could result in serious injury or death.
•This system is only a warning device to
inform the driver of a potential unintended
lane departure. It will not steer the vehicle
or prevent loss of control. It is the driver’s
responsibility to stay alert, drive safely,
keep the vehicle in the traveling lane, and
be in control of the vehicle at all times.
•The system will not operate at speeds be-
low approximately 40 MPH (60 km/h) or if it
cannot detect lane markers.

LDW SYSTEM TEMPORARILY
UNAVAILABLE
Under the following conditions, the LDW system
will be canceled automatically, and the mes-
sage [Lane Departure Warning Currently Un-
available See Operator’s Manual] is displayed
in the vehicle information display
2. The LDW
system is temporarily unavailable.
•The windshield is dirty in the camera’s field
of vision.
•Visibility is impaired due to heavy rain, snow
or fog.
•There have been no lane markings for an
extended period.
•The lane markings are worn, dark, or cov-
ered by dirt or snow, etc..
Action to take:When the above conditions no
longer exist, the message goes out and the LDW
system is operational again. If the message
continues to appear, stop the vehicle in a safe
location, press the P (Park) button , and clean
the windshield.

BSW SYSTEM OPERATION

AMENU barThe BSW system operates above approximately
20 MPH (30 km/h). When the BSW is activated,
the side indicator light illuminates in yellow up
to a speed of 20 MPH (30 km/h). At speeds
above 20 MPH (30 km/h), the indicator light
goes out and the BSW system is operational.Illustration 1:If the radar sensors detect a
vehicle in the detection zone, the BSW indicator

BSW SYSTEM LIMITATIONS
WARNING
Listed below are the system limitations for the
BSW system. Failure to operate the vehicle in
accordance with these system limitations
could result in serious injury or death.
•The BSW system cannot detect all vehicles
under all conditions.
•The radar sensors may not be able to detect
and activate BSW when certain objects are
present such as:
–Pedestrians, bicycles, or animals.

•The warning chime will not sound and the
distance warning light will not illuminate
when:
– The vehicle approaches other vehicles
that are parked or moving slowly.
– The accelerator pedal is depressed, over-
riding the system.
Also, the sensor sensitivity can be affected by
vehicle operation (steering maneuver or driving
position in the lane) or traffic or vehicle condi-
tion (for example, if a vehicle is being driven
with some damage).
Automatic cancellation
A chime sounds and the message [ICC off] is
displayed in the vehicle information display for
5 seconds under the following conditions and
the control is automatically canceled.
•The electric parking brake is applied.
•The VDC intervenes or the VDC is deactivated.
•The P (Park), R (Reverse) or N (Neutral)
position is engaged.
•The cruise control lever is pulled in order to
pull away but the front passenger door or
one of the rear doors is open.
•The vehicle is skidding or a wheel slips.
•Active Park Assist is activated.
ICC LIMITATIONS
WARNING
Listed below are the system limitations for the
ICC system. Failure to operate the vehicle in
accordance with these system limitations
could result in serious injury or death.
•This system is only an aid to assist the
driver and is not a collision warning or
avoidance device. It is the driver’s responsi-
bility to stay alert, drive safely and be in
control of the vehicle at all times.
•The system is primarily intended for use on
straight, dry, open roads with light traffic. It
is not advisable to use the system in city
traffic or congested areas.
•This system will not adapt automatically to
road conditions. This system should be
used in evenly flowing traffic. Do not use the
system on roads with sharp curves, or on icy
roads, in heavy rain or in fog.
•As there is a performance limit to the dis-
tance control function, never rely solely on
the ICC system. This system does not cor-
rect careless, inattentive or absent-minded
driving, or overcome poor visibility in rain,
fog, or other bad weather. Decelerate the
vehicle speed by depressing the brakepedal, depending on the distance to the ve-
hicle ahead and the surrounding circum-
stances in order to maintain a safe distance
between vehicles.
•If the vehicle ahead comes to a stop, the
vehicle decelerates to a standstill within
the limitations of the system. Once the ve-
hicle is stationary, it remains stationary and
you do not need to depress the brake pedal.
•Always pay attention to the operation of the
vehicle and be ready to manually control the
proper following distance. The ICC system
may not be able to maintain the selected
distance between vehicles (following dis-
tance) or selected vehicle speed under
some circumstances.
•Normally when controlling the distance to a
vehicle ahead, this system automatically
accelerates or decelerates your vehicle ac-
cording to the speed of the vehicle ahead. If
required, depress the accelerator to prop-
erly accelerate your vehicle when accelera-
tion is required for a lane change. Depress
the brake pedal when deceleration is re-
quired to maintain a safe distance to the
vehicle ahead due to its sudden braking or if
a vehicle cuts in. Always stay alert when
using the ICC system.

SYSTEM TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE
When the radar sensor area is covered with dirt
or is obstructed, the system will automatically
be canceled. If the radar sensor area is covered
with ice, a transparent or translucent vinyl bag,
etc., the ICC system may not detect them. Inthese instances, the ICC system may not cancel
and may not be able to maintain the selected
following distance from the vehicle ahead.
If the ICC system stops working due to a
malfunction or some other reason, one of the
following messages will be displayed in the
vehicle information display

•[ICC off]
•[ICC Now Available]
•[ICC Currently Unavailable See Operator’s
Manual]
•[ICC Inoperative]
•[ICC Suspended]
•[ICC–––MPH]
[ICC off]:The ICC system has been deactivated.
If it was not deactivated by the driver, a warning
tone also sounds.
[ICC Now Available]:The ICC system is opera-
tional again after having been temporarily un-
available. You can now reactivate the ICC sys-
tem.

FEB SYSTEM OPERATION

3Forward emergency braking OFF displayThe FEB system consists of a distance warning
function with an autonomous emergency brak-
ing function and adaptive brake assist function.
The FEB system can help you to minimize the
risk of a collision with the vehicle in front or
reduce the effects of such a collision
If the FEB system detects that there is a risk of
a collision, you will be warned visually and
audibly. If you do not react to the visual and
audible collision warning, autonomous braking
can be initiated in critical situations. If you
apply the brake yourself in a critical situation,
the adaptive brake assist function assists you.

If the adaptive brake assist function activates,
keep the brake pedal depressed until the emer-
gency braking situation is over. ABS prevents
the wheels from locking.
The brakes will work normally again if:
•You release the brake pedal.
•There is no longer any danger of a collision.
•No obstacle is detected in front of your
vehicle.
The brake assist function is then deactivated.
At high speeds, the adaptive brake assist func-
tion is capable of reacting to moving objects
that have already been detected as such at
least once over the period of observation.
Up to a speed of approximately 45 MPH (70
km/h), the adaptive brake assist function reacts
to stationary vehicles.
