Introduction
Fuel Additives
HYUNDAI recommends that you use unleaded gasoline which has an octane
rating of RON (Research Octane
Number) 95 / AKI (Anti Knock Index) 91
or higher (for Europe) or Octane Rating
of RON (Research Octane Number) 91 /
AKI (Anti-Knock Index) 87 or higher
(except Europe).
For customers who do not use good
quality gasolines including fuel additives
regularly, and have problems starting or
the engine does not run smoothly, one
bottle of additives added to the fuel tank
at every 15,000km (for Europe)/ 5,000km
(except Europe). Additives are available
from your authorized HYUNDAI dealer
along with information on how to use
them. Do not mix other additives.
Operation in foreign countries
If you are going to drive your vehicle in
another country, be sure to:
Observe all regulations regarding reg-istration and insurance.
Determine that acceptable fuel is avail- able. Diesel engine
Diesel fuel
Diesel engine must be operated only on
commercially available diesel fuel that
complies with EN 590 or comparable
standard. (EN stands for "European
Norm"). Do not use marine diesel fuel,
heating oils, or non-approved fuel addi-
tives, as this will increase wear andcause damage to the engine and fuel
system. The use of non-approved fuels
and / or fuel additives will result in a limi-
tation of your warranty rights.
Diesel fuel of above cetane 51 is used in
your vehicle. If two types of diesel fuel
are available, use summer or winter fuel
properly according to the following tem-
perature conditions.
Above -5°C (23°F) ... Summer type
diesel fuel.
Below -5°C (23°F) ... Winter type diesel fuel.
Watch the fuel level in the tank very care-
fully : If the engine stops through fuel fail-
ure, the circuits must be completely
purged to permit restarting.
CAUTION
Do not let any gasoline or water enter the tank. This would make itnecessary to drain it out and to
bleed the lines to avoid jamming the injection pump and damaging theengine.
CAUTION - Diesel Fuel
(if equipped with DPF)
It is recommended to use the regu- lated automotive diesel fuel fordiesel vehicle equipped with the DPF system.
If you use diesel fuel including highsulfur (more than 50 ppm sulfur)
and unspecified additives, it cancause the DPF system to be dam- aged and white smoke can be emit-
ted.

temperature setting of the seat is
changed as follows :
The seat warmer defaults to the OFF position whenever the ignition switch is
turned on.
✽✽ NOTICE
With the seat warmer switch in the ON
position, the heating system in the seat
turns off or on automatically depending
on the seat temperature.
CAUTION
When cleaning the seats, do not use an organic solvent such asthinner, benzene, alcohol and
gasoline. Doing so may damage the surface of the heater or seats.
To prevent overheating the seat warmer, do not place anything onthe seats that insulates against
heat, such as blankets, cushionsor seat covers while the seatwarmer is in operation.
Do not place heavy or sharp objects on seats equipped with
seat warmers. Damage to the seat
warming components could occur.

If a fire breaks out during refuel-
ing, leave the vicinity of the vehi-
cle, and immediately contact the
manager of the gas station and
then contact the local fire depart-
ment. Follow any safety instruc-
tions they provide.CAUTION
Make sure to refuel your vehicle
according to the “Fuel require-ments” suggested in section 1.
If the fuel filler cap requires replacement, we recommend thatyou use parts for replacement
from an authorized HYUNDAIdealer. An incorrect fuel filler cap
can result in a serious malfunc-tion of the fuel system or emis- sion control system.
Do not spill fuel on the exterior surfaces of the vehicle. Any typeof fuel spilled on painted surfaces
may damage the paint.
After refueling, make sure the fuel cap is installed securely to pre-vent fuel spillage in the event of an accident.

Tachometer
The tachometer indicates the approxi-
mate number of engine revolutions per
minute (rpm). Use the tachometer to select the correct
shift points and to prevent lugging and/or
over-revving the engine. The tachometer pointer may move slight-
ly when the ignition switch is in ON posi-
tion with the engine OFF. This movement
is normal and will not affect the accuracy
of the tachometer once the engine is run-ning.
Engine temperature gauge
This gauge shows the temperature of the
engine coolant when the ignition switch
is ON. The gauge is supplemented by a
Engine coolant temperature warninglight, which illuminates when the engine
is overheating.
Do not continue driving with an overheat-
ed engine. If your vehicle overheats, refer
to “If the engine overheats” in section 6.
CAUTION
Do not operate the engine within
the tachometer's RED ZONE.
This may cause severe engine dam-age.

The rear parking assist system assists
the driver during backward movement of
the vehicle by chiming if any object issensed within a distance of 120 cm (47
in.) behind the vehicle. This system is asupplemental system and it is not intend-
ed to nor does it replace the need for
extreme care and attention of the driver.
The sensing range and objects
detectable by the back sensors are limit-
ed. Whenever backing-up, pay as much
attention to what is behind you as you
would in a vehicle without a rear parkingassist system. Operation of the rear parking assist system

water and baking soda.
If the vehicle is not going to be used for an extended time, disconnect the bat-
tery cables.
✽✽ NOTICE
Basically equipped battery is mainte-
nance free type. If your vehicle is
equipped with the battery marked with
LOWER and UPPER on the side, you
can check the electrolyte level. The elec-
trolyte level should be between LOWER
and UPPER. If the electrolyte level is
low, it needs to add distilled (demineral-
ized) water (Never add sulfuric acid or
other electrolyte). When refill, be careful
not to splash the battery and adjacent
components. And do not overfill the bat-
tery cells. It can cause corrosion on other
parts. After then ensure that tighten the
cell caps. We recommend that you con-
tact an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.WARNING - Battery
dangers
Always read the following
instructions carefully when
handling a battery.
Keep lighted cigarettes and all other flames or sparks
