Compass function
The Compass can be turned ON and
OFF and will remember the last state
when the ignition is cycled. To turn
the display feature ON/OFF:
1. Press and release the button
within 1 second to turn the display
feature OFF.
2. Press and release the button again within 1 second to turn the
display back ON.
Additional options can be set with
press and hold sequences of the
button and are detailed below.
There is a difference between mag-
netic north and true north. The com-
pass in the mirror can compensate
for this difference when it knows the
Magnetic Zone in which it is operat-
ing. This is set either by the dealer or
by the user. The operating Zone
Numbers for North America are
shown in the figure on the following
section.

Side view mirrors
Be sure to adjust mirror angles
before driving.
Your vehicle is equipped with both
left-hand and right-hand side view
mirrors. The mirrors can be adjusted
remotely with the remote switch. The
mirror heads can be folded back to
prevent damage during an automatic
car wash or when passing through a
narrow street.
The right side view mirrors is convex.
Objects seen in the mirror are closer
than they appear.
Use your interior rearview mirror or
direct observation to determine the
actual distance of following vehicles
when changing lanes.CAUTION -Rearview

Do not scrape ice off the mirror face; this may damage the sur-face of the glass. If ice shouldrestrict movement of the mirror,do not force the mirror foradjustment. To remove ice, usea deicer spray, or a sponge orsoft cloth with very warm water.

Blind spot mirror (if equipped)
The blind spot mirror (BSM) is sup-
plemental mirror to help reduce a dri-
ver's blind spot that will show the rear
side territory of your vehicle. The
blind spot mirror is equipped with the
left-hand side view mirror.
Adjusting the side view mirror
The electric remote control mirror
switch allows you to adjust the posi-
tion of the left and right side view mir-
rors.
To adjust the position of the mirrors:
1. Place the ignition switch in theACC position.
2. Move the lever(1) to R (right) or L (left) to select the right side mirror
or the left side mirror.
3. Press a corresponding point on the mirror adjustment control to
position the selected mirror up,
down, left or right.
WARNING
Always check the road condi-tion while driving for unex-
pected situations even
though the vehicle is
equipped with a blind spot
mirror.
The blind spot mirror is a device made for convenience.
Do not solely rely on the mir-
ror but always pay attention to
drive safely.

4. After the adjustment, position the
lever in the center to prevent inad-
vertent movement.
Folding/unfolding the side viewmirror
Manual type
To fold the side view mirror, grasp the
housing of the mirror and then fold it
toward the rear of the vehicle. Electric type (if equipped)
The side view mirror can be folded or
unfolded by pressing the switch as
below.
Left (1) :
The mirror will unfold.
Right (2) : The mirror will fold.
Center (AUTO, 3) :
The mirror will fold or unfold automat-
ically as follows:
- The mirror will fold or unfold when the door is locked or unlocked by the
smart key.
- The mirror will fold or unfold when the door is locked or unlocked by the
button on the outside door handle.
CAUTION - Outside
mirror
The mirrors stop moving when they reach the maximumadjusting angles, but themotor continues to operatewhile the switch is pressed.Do not press the switch longerthan necessary, the motormay be damaged.
Do not attempt to adjust the side view mirror by hand.Doing so may damage therelated parts.

closed and locked) with a smart
key in possession. (if equipped)
Reverse parking aid function
(if equipped)
While the vehicle is moving rear-
ward, the side view mirror(s) will
move downward to aid reverse park-
ing. According to the position of the
side view mirror switch (1), the side
view mirror(s) will operate as follows:
L/R : When the remote control side
view mirror switch is selected to
the L (left) or R (right) position,
both side view mirrors will move
downward. Neutral
: When the remote control
side view mirror switch is
placed in the middle, the
side view mirrors will not
operate while the vehicle is
moving rearward.
The side view mirrors will automati-
cally revert to their original positions
under the following conditions:
1. The ignition switch is in the OFF position.
2. Shift lever is moved to any position except R (Reverse).
3. Remote control side view mirror switch is placed in the middle.

In case it is an electric type sideview mirror, don’t fold it byhand. It could cause motor fail-ure.
CAUTION
The electric type side view mir-ror operates even though theENGINE START/ STOP button isin the OFF position. However, toprevent unnecessary batterydischarge, do not adjust themirrors longer than necessarywhile the engine is not running.

The rearview camera will activate
when the back-up light is ON with the
ignition switch ON and the shift lever
in the R (Reverse) position.
This system is a supplemental sys-
tem that shows behind the vehicle
through the display monitor while
backing-up.
Always keep the camera lens clean.
If the lens is covered with foreign
matter, the camera may not operate
normally.

WARNING - Rearview
camera
The rear view camera is not a
safety device. It only serves to
assist the driver in identifying
objects directly behind the mid-
dle of the vehicle. The camera
does NOT cover the complete
area behind the vehicle. While
the camera's display is general-
ly accurate, objects can be
much closer than they appear in
the display screen and can be
distorted in both size and pro-
portion.WARNING - Backing &
using camera
Never rely solely on the rear
view camera when reversing.
You must always view the area
behind you including looking
over both shoulders as well as
continuously checking all three
rear view mirrors. Due to the dif-
ficulty of ensuring that the area
behind you remains clear,
always back slowly and stop
immediately if you even suspect
that a person, and especially a
child, might be behind you.
Otherwise serious injury or
death could occur.

Door courtesy lamp
The door courtesy lamp comes ON
when the door is opened to assist
entering or exiting the vehicle. It also
serves as a warning to passing vehi-
cles that the vehicle door is opened.
Glove box lamp
The glove box lamp comes on when
the glove box is opened.
The parking lights or headlights must
be ON for the glove box lamp to func-
tion.
Vanity mirror lamp
Opening the lid of the vanity mirror
will automatically turn on the mirror
light.

DEFROSTER

If you want to defrost and defog
the front windshield, refer to
“Windshield defrosting and defog-
ging” in this section.
Rear window defroster
The defroster heats the window to
remove frost, fog and thin ice from
the rear window, while the engine is
running.
To activate the rear window
defroster, press the rear window
defroster button located in the cen-
ter facia switch panel.
The indicator on the rear window defroster button illuminates when
the defroster is ON.
The rear window defroster auto- matically turns off after approxi-
mately 20 minutes or when the
ignition switch is turned off. To turn off the defroster, press the
rear window defroster button
again.
If there is heavy accumulation of
snow on the rear window, brush it off
before operating the rear defroster.
Side view mirror defroster (if equipped)
If your vehicle is equipped with the
side view mirror defrosters, they will
operate at the same time you turn on
the rear window defroster.
CAUTION - Conductors
To prevent damage to the con-ductors bonded to the insidesurface of the rear window,never use sharp instruments orwindow cleaners containingabrasives to clean the window.
