Safety system of your vehicle
SRS Care
The SRS is virtually maintenance-free
and there are no parts you can safely
service by yourself. If the SRS air bag
warning light does not illuminate
when the Engine Start/Stop button is
in the ON position, or continuously
remains on, have your vehicle imme-
diately inspected by an authorized
Dealer of Genesis Brand Products.
Any work on the SRS system, such
as removing, installing, repairing, or
any work on the steering wheel, the
front passenger's panel, front seats
and roof rails must be performed by
an authorized Dealer of Genesis
Brand Products. Improper handling of
the SRS system may result in serious
personal injury. To reduce the risk of serious
injury or death, take the follow-
ing precautions:
Do not attempt to modify or disconnect the SRS compo-
nents or wiring, including the
addition of any kind of badges
to the pad covers or modifica-
tions to the body structure.
Do not place objects over or near the air bag modules on
the steering wheel, instrument
panel, or the front passen-
ger’s panel above the glove
box.
Clean the air bag pad covers with a soft cloth moistened
with plain water. Solvents or
cleaners could adversely
affect the air bag covers and
proper deployment of the sys-
tem.

WARNING
(Continued)
Always have inflated air bagsreplaced by an authorized
Dealer of Genesis Brand
Products.
If components of the air bag system must be discarded, or if
the vehicle must be scrapped,
certain safety precautions
must be observed. Consult an
authorized Dealer of Genesis
Brand Products for the neces-
sary information. Failure to fol-
low these precautions could
increase the risk of personal
injury.

Additional Safety Precautions
Passengers should not move out of
or change seats while the vehicle is
moving.A passenger who is not
wearing a seat belt during a crash or
emergency stop can be thrown
against the inside of the vehicle,
against other occupants, or be ejected
from the vehicle.
Do not use any accessories on seat
belts. Devices claiming to improve
occupant comfort or reposition the
seat belt can reduce the protection
provided by the seat belt and increase
the chance of serious injury in a crash
Do not modify the front seats.
Modification of the front seats could
interfere with the operation of the sup-
plemental restraint system sensing
components or side air bags.
Do not place items under the front
seats. Placing items under the front
seats could interfere with the opera-
tion of the supplemental restraint sys-
tem sensing components and wiring
harnesses.
Do not cause impact to the doors.
Impact to the doors when the Engine
Start/Stop button is in the ON position
may cause the air bags to inflate. Modifications to accommodate
disabilities.

tion to your vehicle to accommodate
a disability, contact Genesis

Adding equipment to or modify- ing your air bag equipped vehicle
If you modify your vehicle by changing
your vehicle’s frame, bumper system,
front end or side sheet metal or ride
height, this may affect the operation of
your vehicle’s air bag system.

Driving your vehicle
Check spark plugs and ignitionsystem
Inspect your spark plugs as
described in chapter 7 and replace
them if necessary. Also check all
ignition wiring and components to be
sure they are not cracked, worn or
damaged in any way.
Use approved window washeranti-freeze in system
To keep the water in the window
washer system from freezing, add an
approved window washer anti-freeze
solution in accordance with instruc-
tions on the container. Window wash-
er anti-freeze is available from an
authorized Dealer of Genesis Brand
Products and most auto parts out-
lets. Do not use engine coolant or
other types of anti-freeze as these
may damage the paint finish.
Do not let your parking brakefreeze
Under some conditions your parking
brake can freeze in the engaged
position. This is most likely to happen
when there is an accumulation of
snow or ice around or near the rear
brakes or if the brakes are wet. If
there is a risk the parking brake may
freeze, apply it only temporarily while
you put the gear selector lever in P
and block the rear wheels so the car
cannot roll. Then release the parking
brake.
Do not let ice and snow accu-mulate underneath
Under some conditions, snow and
ice can build up under the fenders
and interfere with the steering. When
driving in severe winter conditions
where this may happen, you should
periodically check underneath the
car to be sure the movement of the
front wheels and the steering compo-
nents is not obstructed.
Don't place foreign objects ormaterials in the engine com-partment
Placement of foreign object or mate-
rials which prevent cooling of the
engine, in the engine compartment,
may cause a failure or combustion.
The manufacturer is not responsible
for the damage caused by such
placement.
To keep locks from freezing
To keep the locks from freezing,
squirt an approved de-icer fluid or
glycerine into the key opening. If a
lock is covered with ice, squirt it with
an approved de-icing fluid to remove
the ice. If the lock is frozen internally,
you may be able to thaw it out by
using a heated key. Handle the heat-
ed key with care to avoid injury.

A vehicle's electrical system is pro-
tected from electrical overload dam-
age by fuses.
This vehicle has 4 fuse panels, one
located in the driver's side panel bol-
ster, another in the engine compart-
ment, and two others in the trunk
compartment.
If any of your vehicle's lights, acces-
sories, or controls do not work, check
the appropriate circuit fuse. If a fuse
has blown, the element inside the
fuse will be melted or broken. If the electrical system does not
work, first check the driver's side
fuse panel. Before replacing a blown
fuse, turn the engine and all switches
off, and then disconnect the negative
battery cable. Always replace a
blown fuse with one of the same rat-
ing.
If the replacement fuse blows, this
indicates an electrical problem. Avoid
using the system involved and immedi-
ately consult an authorized Dealer of
Genesis Brand Products.
Information
Four kinds of fuses are used : blade
type for lower amperage rating, car-
tridge type/Multi fuse/Fusible link for
higher amperage ratings.
Do not use a screwdriver or any
other metal object to remove
fuses because it may cause a
short circuit and damage the sys-
tem.

NEVER replace a fuse with any-
thing but another fuse of the
same rating.
A higher capacity fuse couldcause damage and possibly
cause a fire.
Do not install a wire or alu- minum foil instead of the
proper fuse - even as a tempo-
rary repair. It may cause
extensive wiring damage and
possibly a fire.
