Starting the Vehicle
To s t a r t t h e e n g i n e u s i n g t h e r e m o t estart feature:
1. Aim the RKE transmitter at thevehicle.
2. Press and releaseQ.
3. Immediately after completing
Step 2, press and hold/for at
least four seconds or until theturn signal lamps flash. Theturn signal lamps flashingconfirms the request to remotestart the vehicle has beenreceived.
When the engine starts, the parkinglamps will turn on and remain on aslong as the engine is running. Thedoors will be locked and the climatecontrol system may come on.
The engine will continue to run for10 minutes. After 30 seconds,repeat the steps to extend to20 minutes. Remote start can beextended only once.
Start the vehicle before driving.
Extending Engine Run Time
To e x t e n d t o 2 0 m i n u t e s , r e p e a tSteps 1–3whiletheengineisstillrunning. An extension can berequested 30 seconds after starting.The remote start can beextended once.
For example, if the engine has beenrunning for five minutes, and theremote start is extended, the enginewill run for a total of 20 minutes.
Amaximumoftworemotestarts,or a single start with an extension,is allowed between ignition cycles.
The vehicle's ignition must beturned on and then back off beforethe remote start procedure can beused again.
Canceling a Remote Start
To c a n c e l a r e m o t e s t a r t , d o o n e o fthe following:
.Aim the RKE transmitter at the
vehicle and press and hold/
until the parking lamps turn off.
.Turn on the hazard warningflashers.
.Turn the vehicle on and then off.
Conditions in Which Remote StartWill Not Work
The remote vehicle start feature willnot operate if:
.The transmitter is in the vehicle.
.The hood is not closed.
.The hazard warning flashersare on.
.The malfunction indicator lampis on.
.The engine coolant temperatureis too high.
.The oil pressure is low.

Door Locks

Unlocked doors can be
dangerous.
.Passengers, especiallychildren, can easily openthe doors and fall out of amoving vehicle. When adoor is locked, the handlewill not open it. The chanceof being thrown out of thevehicle in a crash isincreased if the doors arenot locked. So, allpassengers should wearsafety belts properly and thedoors should be lockedwhenever the vehicle isdriven.

.Yo u n g c h i l d r e n w h o g e t i n t ounlocked vehicles may beunable to get out. A childcan be overcome byextreme heat and can sufferpermanent injuries or evendeath from heat stroke.Always lock the vehiclewhenever leaving it.
.Outsiders can easily enterthrough an unlocked doorwhen you slow down or stopthe vehicle. Locking thedoors can help prevent thisfrom happening.

.Use the key in the driver door.Turn the key toward the rear tolock all doors. Turn the keytoward the front to unlock the
driver door. Turn the key againtoward the front to unlock alldoors.
To l o c k o r u n l o c k t h e d o o r s f r o m t h einside:
.Pushing down the manual lockknob on the driver door will lockall doors. Pushing down themanual lock knob on apassenger door will lock thatdoor only.
.Pull the door handle once tounlock the door. Pulling thehandle again unlatches the door.
.PressQorKon the power door
lock switch.
Keyless Access
The RKE transmitter must be within1m (3ft) of the door or trunk beingopened. Press the button on thedoor handle to open. See“KeylessAccess Operation”inRemoteKeyless Entry (RKE) SystemOperation025.

Trunk
{Warning
Exhaust gases can enter the
vehicle if it is driven with the
liftgate or trunk/hatch open,
or with any objects that pass
through the seal between the
body and the trunk/hatch or
liftgate. Engine exhaust contains
carbon monoxide (CO) which
cannot be seen or smelled. It can
cause unconsciousness and even
death.
If the vehicle must be driven with
the liftgate or trunk/hatch open:
.Close all of the windows.
.Fully open the air outlets onor under the instrumentpanel.
.Adjust the climate controlsystem to a setting thatbrings in only outside air

.If the vehicle is equippedwith a power liftgate, disablethe power liftgate function.

Trunk Release

The system checks whether thevehicle is allowed to start with thetransmitter used. If the transponderin the transmitter is recognized, thevehicle can be started.
The security light in the instrumentcluster comes on when there is aproblem with arming or disarmingthe theft-deterrent system.
The system has one or moretransmitters matched to animmobilizer control unit in yourvehicle. Only a correctly matchedtransmitter will start the vehicle.If the transmitter is ever damaged,you may not be able to start yourvehicle.
When trying to start the vehicle, thesecurity light comes on briefly whenthe ignition is turned on.
If the vehicle does not start and thesecurity light stays on, there is aproblem with the system. Turn thevehicle off and try again.
If the RKE transmitter appears to beundamaged, try another transmitteror place the transmitter in thetransmitter pocket in the centerconsole. See“Starting the Vehiclewith a Low Transmitter Battery”underRemote Keyless Entry (RKE)System Operation025.
If the vehicle does not start with theother transmitter or when thetransmitter is in the pocket in thecenter console, see your dealer.
Do not leave the transmitter thatdisarms or deactivates thetheft-deterrent system, in thevehicle.

Convex Mirrors
{Warning
Aconvexmirrorcanmakethings,
like other vehicles, look farther
away than they really are. If you
cut too sharply into the right lane,
you could hit a vehicle on the
right. Check the inside mirror or
glance over your shoulder before
changing lanes.
The passenger side mirror is convexshaped. A convex mirror's surface iscurved so more can be seen fromthe driver seat.

Interior Rearview Mirrors
Adjust the rearview mirror for a clearview of the area behind yourvehicle.
If equipped with OnStar, there arethree buttons at the bottom of themirror. See your dealer for moreinformation on the system and howto subscribe to OnStar. SeeOnStarOverview0378.
To a v o i d a c c i d e n t a l O n S t a r c a l l s ,clean the mirror with the ignition off.Do not spray glass cleaner directlyon the mirror. Use a soft toweldampened with water.
Automatic Dimming
Rearview Mirror
The rearview mirror automaticallydims to reduce the glare of theheadlamps from behind. Thisfeature comes on when the vehicleis started.
Windows
{Warning
Never leave a child, a helpless
adult, or a pet alone in a vehicle,
especially with the windows
closed in warm or hot weather.
They can be overcome by the
extreme heat and suffer
permanent injuries or even death
from heat stroke.
Power Windows
{Warning
Children could be seriously
injured or killed if caught in the
path of a closing window. Never
leave keys in a vehicle with
children. When there are children
in the rear seat, use the window
lockout button to prevent
operation of the windows. See

The power window switches on thedriver door control all the windows.Each passenger door has a switchthat controls only that window.
Power window switches work whenthe ignition is in ON/RUN, ACC/ACCESSORY, or RetainedAccessory Power (RAP). SeeRetained Accessory Power (RAP)0232.
Press the switch to lower thewindow. Pull the switch to raise thewindow.
Express Window Operation
Windows with an express-down orexpress-up feature allow the windowto be lowered or raised withoutholding the switch. Pull a windowswitch up or press it down all theway, release it, and the windowgoes up or down automatically. Stopthe window by pressing or pullingthe switch in the same direction asecond time, or by briefly operatingthe switch to the first detent in eitherdirection.
Express Window Anti-Pinch
Feature
If an object is in the path of thewindow when the express-up isactive, the window will stop at theobstruction and auto-reverse to apreset factory position. Weatherconditions such as severe icing maycause the window to auto-reverse.The window will return to normaloperation after the obstruction orcondition is removed.
Rear Window Lockout
Pressoto prevent rear seat
passengers from operating thewindows. The indicator lightilluminates when on. Press again toturn the feature off.
Programming the Power
Windows
If the battery on the vehicle hasbeen recharged or disconnectedand the windows cannot be closedautomatically, a warning messagewill display in the Driver InformationCenter (DIC). To reprogram thewindows:
1. The ignition must be in ON/RUN or ACC/ACCESSORY,or Retained AccessoryPower (RAP).
2. Press and hold the powerwindow switch until the windowis fully open.
3. Pull the power window switchup until the window is fullyclosed and keep holding theswitch up for an additionaltwo seconds.
4. Repeat for each window.

Head Restraints
Front Seats
{Warning
With head restraints that are not
installed and adjusted properly,
there is a greater chance that
occupants will suffer a neck/
spinal injury in a crash. Do not
drive until the head restraints for
all occupants are installed and
adjusted properly.
The vehicle's front seats haveadjustable head restraints in theoutboard seating positions.
Adjust the head restraint so that thetop of the restraint is at the sameheight as the top of the occupant'shead. This position reduces thechance of a neck injury in a crash.
To r a i s e o r l o w e r t h e h e a d r e s t r a i n t ,press the button located on the sideof the head restraint, and pull up orpush the head restraint down, andrelease the button. Pull and push onthe head restraint after the button isreleased to make sure that it islocked in place.
The front seat outboard headrestraints are not removable.
Rear Seats
The vehicle’srearseatshaveheadrestraints in the outboard seatingpositions that cannot be adjusted.
The rear outboard head restraintsare not removable.
