Keyless Trunk Opening
Press the touch pad on the trunk lid
to open the trunk if the RKE
transmitter is within 1 m (3 ft) of the
trunk.
Programming Keys or
Transmitters to the Vehicle
Only keys or RKE transmitters
programmed to the vehicle will work.
If a key or transmitter is lost or
stolen, a replacement can be
purchased and programmed through
your dealer. The vehicle can be
reprogrammed so that lost or stolen
keys or transmitters no longer work.
Any remaining keys or transmitters
will need to be reprogrammed. Each
vehicle can have up to eight keys or
transmitters matched to it.
Programming with Two
Recognized Keys (Key
Vehicles Only)
To program a new key:1. Insert the original, already programmed key in the ignition
and turn the key to ON/RUN. 2. Turn to LOCK/OFF, and
remove the key.
3. Quickly, within five seconds, insert the second original
already programmed key in the
ignition and turn to ON/RUN.
4. Turn to LOCK/OFF, and remove the key.
5. Insert the new key to be programmed and turn to ON/
RUN within five seconds.
The security light will turn off
once the key has been
programmed.
6. Repeat Steps 1–3 if additional keys are to be programmed.
If a key is lost or damaged, see your
dealer to have a new key made.
Programming without a
Recognized Key (Key
Vehicles Only)
Program a new key to the vehicle
when a recognized key is not
available. Canadian regulations
require that owners see their dealer. If two currently recognized keys are
not available, follow this procedure
to program the first key.
This procedure will take
approximately 30 minutes to
complete for the first key. The
vehicle must be off and all of the
keys you wish to program must be
with you.
1. Insert the new vehicle key into the ignition.
2. Turn to ON/RUN. The security light will come on.
3. Wait 10 minutes until the security light turns off.
4. Turn to LOCK/OFF.
5. Repeat Steps 2–4 two more times. After the third time, turn
to ON/RUN; the key is learned
and all previously known keys
will no longer work with the
vehicle.
Remaining keys can be learned by
following the procedure in
“Programming with a Recognized
Key (Key Vehicles Only).”

Vehicle Security
This vehicle has theft-deterrent
features; however, they do not make
the vehicle impossible to steal.
Vehicle Alarm System
This vehicle has an anti-theft alarm
system.
If equipped with the anti-theft alarm
system, the indicator light, on the
instrument panel near the
windshield, indicates the status of
the system.
Off :Alarm system is disarmed. On Solid :
Vehicle is secured
during the delay to arm the system.
Fast Flash : Vehicle is unsecured.
A door, the trunk, or the hood
is open.
Slow Flash : Alarm system is
armed.
Arming the Alarm System
1. Turn off the vehicle.
2. Lock the vehicle with one of the following:
.Use the Remote Keyless
Entry (RKE) transmitter.
. If the vehicle has Keyless
Access, use the door
handle lock/unlock button
with the RKE transmitter
within 1 m (3 ft) of the
vehicle.
. With a door open, press the
inside
Q.
3. After 30 seconds the alarm system will arm, and the
indicator light will begin to
slowly flash indicating the
alarm system is operating. Pressing
Qon the RKE
transmitter a second time will
bypass the 30-second delay
and immediately arm the alarm
system.
The theft-deterrent alarm system will
not arm if the doors are locked with
the key.
If the driver door is opened without
first unlocking the RKE transmitter,
the horn will chirp and the lights will
flash to indicate pre-alarm. If the
vehicle is not started, or the door is
not unlocked by pressing
Kon the
RKE transmitter during the
10-second pre-alarm, the alarm will
be activated.
If a door, the trunk, or the hood is
opened without first disarming the
system, the turn signals will flash
and the horn will sound for about
30 seconds. The alarm system will
then re-arm to monitor for the next
unauthorized event.
