Initial Drive Information
This section provides a brief overview
about some of the important features
that may or may not be on your
specific vehicle.
For more detailed information, refer to
each of the features which can be
found later in this owner’s manual.
Remote Keyless Entry
(RKE) System
The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)
transmitter is used to remotely lock
and unlock the doors from up to 60 m
(197 ft) away from the vehicle.
K:Press to unlock the driver door.
Press
Kagain within three seconds to
unlock all remaining doors.
Q: Press to lock all doors.
Lock and unlock feedback can be
personalized. See Vehicle
Personalization 0154.
b:Press twice to open or close the
liftgate. Press once to stop the liftgate
from moving.
c: Press twice to open the liftglass.
7:Press and release to initiate
vehicle locate. The turn signal lamps
flash and the horn sound three times.
Press
7and hold for more than
three seconds to sound the panic
alarm.
Press
7again to cancel the panic
alarm.

Remote Vehicle Start
The engine can be started from
outside of the vehicle.
Starting the Vehicle
1. Press and releaseQon the RKE
transmitter.
2. Immediately press and hold
/
for at least four seconds or until
the turn signal lamps flash.
Start the vehicle normally after
entering.
When the vehicle starts, the parking
lamps will turn on.
Remote start can be extended.
Canceling a Remote Start
To cancel a remote start, do one of
the following:
. Press and hold
/until the
parking lamps turn off.
. Turn on the hazard warning
flashers.
. Turn the vehicle on and then off.

Leaving children in a vehicle with a
Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)
transmitter is dangerous and
children or others could be
seriously injured or killed. They
could operate the power windows
or other controls or make the
vehicle move. The windows will
function with the RKE transmitter
in the vehicle, and children or
others could be caught in the path
of a closing window. Do not leave
children in a vehicle with an RKE
transmitter.

/:If equipped, press and releaseQ,
then immediately press and hold

until the turn signals flash or for at
least four seconds. The engine may be
started from outside the vehicle using
the RKE transmitter. See Remote
Vehicle Start 033.
Q:Press to lock all doors.
If enabled through vehicle
personalization, the turn signal lamps
flash once to indicate locking has
occurred. If enabled through vehicle
personalization, the horn chirps when
Qis pressed again within
three seconds. See Vehicle
Personalization 0154. If the driver door is open when
Qis
pressed and Unlocked Door
Anti-Lockout is enabled through
vehicle personalization, all doors will
lock and then the driver door will
immediately unlock. See Vehicle
Personalization 0154.
If the passenger door is open when
Q
is pressed, all doors lock.
Pressing
Qarms the alarm system.
See Vehicle Alarm System 043.
If equipped with auto mirror folding,
pressing and holding
Qfor
one second will fold the mirrors. The
auto mirror folding feature will not
operate unless it is enabled. See
Vehicle Personalization 0154.
K:Press once to unlock only the
driver door. If
Kis pressed again
within three seconds, all remaining
doors unlock. The interior lamps may
come on and stay on for 20 seconds or
until the ignition is turned on.
If enabled through vehicle
personalization, the turn signal lamps
flash twice to indicate unlocking has
occurred. If enabled through the vehicle personalizationthe exterior
lamps may turn on. See

Personalization 0154.
Pressing
Kon the RKE transmitter
disarms the alarm system. See Vehicle
Alarm System 043.
If equipped with auto mirror folding,
pressing and holding
Kfor
one second will unfold mirrors. The
auto mirror folding feature will not
operate unless it is enabled. See
Vehicle Personalization 0154.
Press and hold
Kuntil the windows
fully open. Windows will not operate
unless remote window operation is
enabled. See Vehicle
Personalization 0154.
c:Press twice to open the liftglass.
b:Press twice to open or close the
liftgate. Press once to stop the liftgate
from moving.
7: Press and release to initiate
vehicle locate. The turn signal lamps
flash and the horn sounds three times.

inside the vehicle. Do not leave the
RKE transmitter in an unattended
vehicle.
To customize the doors to
automatically lock when exiting the
vehicle, see“Remote Lock, Unlock,
Start ”under Vehicle
Personalization 0154.
Temporarily Disable Passive Locking
Feature
Temporarily disable the passive
locking by pressing and holding
Kon
the interior door switch with a door
open for at least four seconds or until
three chimes are heard. Passive
locking will then remain disabled until
Qon the interior door is pressed or
until the vehicle is turned on.
Remote Left In Vehicle Alert
When the vehicle is turned off and a
remote is left in the vehicle, the horn
will chirp three times after all doors
are closed. To turn on or off see
Vehicle Personalization 0154. Auto Door Relock
If a door is not opened or the vehicle
is not started within three minutes of
unlocking the vehicle and disarming
the alarm system with the RKE
transmitter, all doors are
automatically locked and the vehicle
alarm system is re-armed. This can be
turned on or off in through vehicle
personalization. See
Vehicle
Personalization 0154.
Keyless Liftgate Opening
Press the touch pad on the rear of the
liftgate above the license plate to open
the liftgate when all doors are
unlocked or when the transmitter is
within 1 m (3 ft).
Keyless Liftglass Opening
Press the exterior liftglass button to
open the liftglass when all doors are
unlocked when the transmitter is
within 1 m (3 ft).
Key Access
To access a vehicle with a dead
transmitter battery, see Door
Locks 034.
Programming Transmitters to
the Vehicle
Only RKE transmitters programmed to
the vehicle will work. If a transmitter
is lost or stolen, a replacement can be
purchased and programmed through
your dealer. When the replacement
transmitter is programmed to this
vehicle, all remaining transmitters
must also be reprogrammed. Any lost
or stolen transmitters will no longer
work once the new transmitter is
programmed. Each vehicle can have
up to eight transmitters programmed
to it. See your dealer to program
transmitters to the vehicle.
Starting the Vehicle with a Low
Transmitter Battery
If the transmitter battery is weak or if
there is interference with the signal,
the DIC may display NO REMOTE
DETECTED or NO REMOTE KEY WAS
DETECTED PLACE KEY IN
TRANSMITTER POCKET THEN
START YOUR VEHICLE when starting
the vehicle. See Key and Lock
Messages 0147.

To start the vehicle:1. Open the center console storage area and the storage tray.
2. Place the transmitter in thetransmitter pocket/insert.
3. With the vehicle in P (Park) or N (Neutral), press the brake pedal
and ENGINE START/STOP.
Replace the transmitter battery
as soon as possible.
Battery Replacement
Caution
When replacing the battery, do not
touch any of the circuitry on the
transmitter. Static from your body
could damage the transmitter.
Replace the battery if the REPLACE
BATTERY IN REMOTE KEY message
displays in the DIC.
1. Press the button on the side of the transmitter near the bottom
and pull the key out.
2. Separate the two halves of thetransmitter using a flat tool
inserted into the bottom center
of the transmitter. Do not use
the key slot.

3. Remove the old battery. Do notuse a metal object.
4. Insert the new battery on the back housing, positive side facing
down. Replace with a CR2032 or
equivalent battery.
5. Align the front and back housing then snap the transmitter
together.
Remote Vehicle Start
The climate control system will come
on when the vehicle is started
remotely depending on the outside
temperature. The rear defog and heated and cooled
seats, if equipped, may also come on.

Laws in some communities may
restrict the use of remote starters.
Check local regulations for any
requirements on remote starting of
vehicles.
Do not use remote start if the vehicle
is low on fuel.
The vehicle cannot be remote
started if:
. The transmitter is in the vehicle.
. The hood is not closed.
. There is an emission control
system malfunction and the
malfunction indicator lamp is on.
The engine will turn off during a
remote vehicle start if:
. The coolant temperature gets
too high.
. The oil pressure gets low.
The RKE transmitter range may be
less while the vehicle is running. Other conditions can affect the
performance of the transmitter. See

Starting the Engine Using Remote
Start
1. Press and release
Q.
2. Immediately press and hold
/
until the turn signal lamps flash
or for at least four seconds.
When the vehicle starts, the
parking lamps will turn on. The
doors will be locked and the
climate control system may
come on.
The engine will continue to run
for 10 minutes. Repeat the
Steps 1 and 2 for one 10-minute
time extension.
Place the ignition in ON/RUN/START
to operate the vehicle.
Extending Engine Run Time
The engine run time can be extended
by 10 minutes, for a total of
20 minutes, if during the first
10 minutes Steps 1 and 2 are repeated
