Initial Drive Information
This section provides a brief overview
about some of the important features
that may or may not be on your
specific vehicle.

found later in this owner’s manual.
Remote Keyless Entry
(RKE) System
The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)
transmitter is used to remotely lock
and unlock the doors from up to 60 m
(197 ft) away from the vehicle.
K:Press to unlock the driver door.
Press
Kagain within three seconds to
unlock all remaining doors.
Q: Press to lock all doors.
Lock and unlock feedback can be
personalized. See Vehicle
Personalization 0154.
b:Press twice to open or close the
liftgate. Press once to stop the liftgate
from moving.
c: Press twice to open the liftglass.
7:Press and release to initiate
vehicle locate. The turn signal lamps
flash and the horn sound three times.
Press
7and hold for more than
three seconds to sound the panic
alarm.
Press
7again to cancel the panic
alarm.

Remote Vehicle Start
The engine can be started from
outside of the vehicle.
Starting the Vehicle
1. Press and releaseQon the RKE
transmitter.
2. Immediately press and hold
/
for at least four seconds or until
the turn signal lamps flash.
Start the vehicle normally after
entering.
When the vehicle starts, the parking
lamps will turn on.
Remote start can be extended.
Canceling a Remote Start
To cancel a remote start, do one of
the following:
. Press and hold
/until the
parking lamps turn off.
. Turn on the hazard warning
flashers.
. Turn the vehicle on and then off.

started from outside the vehicle using

Q:Press to lock all doors.
If enabled through vehicle
personalization, the turn signal lamps
flash once to indicate locking has
occurred. If enabled through vehicle
personalization, the horn chirps when
Qis pressed again within
three seconds. See Vehicle
Personalization 0154. If the driver door is open when
Qis
pressed and Unlocked Door
Anti-Lockout is enabled through
vehicle personalization, all doors will
lock and then the driver door will
immediately unlock. See Vehicle
Personalization 0154.
If the passenger door is open when
Q
is pressed, all doors lock.
Pressing
Qarms the alarm system.
See Vehicle Alarm System 043.
If equipped with auto mirror folding,
pressing and holding
Qfor
one second will fold the mirrors. The
auto mirror folding feature will not
operate unless it is enabled. See
Vehicle Personalization 0154.
K:Press once to unlock only the
driver door. If
Kis pressed again
within three seconds, all remaining
doors unlock. The interior lamps may
come on and stay on for 20 seconds or
until the ignition is turned on.
If enabled through vehicle
personalization, the turn signal lamps
flash twice to indicate unlocking has
occurred. If enabled through the vehicle personalizationthe exterior
lamps may turn on. See
Vehicle
Personalization 0154.
Pressing
Kon the RKE transmitter
disarms the alarm system. See Vehicle
Alarm System 043.
If equipped with auto mirror folding,
pressing and holding
Kfor
one second will unfold mirrors. The
auto mirror folding feature will not
operate unless it is enabled. See
Vehicle Personalization 0154.
Press and hold
Kuntil the windows
fully open. Windows will not operate
unless remote window operation is
enabled. See Vehicle
Personalization 0154.
c:Press twice to open the liftglass.
b:Press twice to open or close the
liftgate. Press once to stop the liftgate
from moving.
7: Press and release to initiate
vehicle locate. The turn signal lamps
flash and the horn sounds three times.

Press and hold7for more than
three seconds to activate the panic
alarm. The turn signal lamps flash
and the horn sounds repeatedly for
30 seconds. The alarm turns off when
the ignition is moved to ON/RUN or
7is pressed again. The ignition must
be in LOCK/OFF for the panic alarm
to work.
Keyless Access Operation
The Keyless Access system allows for
the doors and liftgate to be accessed
without pressing the RKE transmitter
button. The RKE transmitter must be
within 1 m (3 ft) of the door being
opened. If the vehicle has this feature,
there will be a button on the outside
door handles.
Keyless Access can be programmed to
unlock all doors on the first lock/
unlock press from the driver door. See
Vehicle Personalization 0154.
Keyless Unlocking/Locking from the
Driver Door
When the doors are locked and the
RKE transmitter is within 1 m (3 ft) of
the door handle, pressing the lock/
unlock button on the driver door handle will unlock the driver door.
If the lock/unlock button is pressed
again within five seconds, all
passenger doors and liftgate will
unlock.
Driver Side Shown, Passenger Similar
Pressing the lock/unlock button will
cause all doors to lock if any of the
following occur:
. It has been more than five seconds
since the first lock/unlock button
press.
. Two lock/unlock button presses
were used to unlock all doors.
. Any vehicle door has been opened
and all doors are now closed. Keyless Unlocking/Locking from the
Passenger Doors
When the doors are locked and the
RKE transmitter is within 1 m (3 ft) of
the door handle, pressing the lock/
unlock button on a passenger door
handle will unlock all doors. Pressing
the lock/unlock button will cause all
doors to lock if any of the following
occur:
.
The lock/unlock button was used
to unlock all doors.
. Any vehicle door has been opened
and all doors are now closed.
Passive Locking
If equipped with Keyless Access, this
feature will lock the vehicle several
seconds after all doors are closed,
if the vehicle is off and at least one
RKE transmitter has been removed
from the interior, or none remain in
the interior.
If other electronic devices interfere
with the RKE transmitter signal, the
vehicle may not detect the RKE
transmitter inside the vehicle.
If passive locking is enabled, the doors
may lock with the RKE transmitter

inside the vehicle. Do not leave the
RKE transmitter in an unattended
vehicle.
To customize the doors to
automatically lock when exiting the
vehicle, see“Remote Lock, Unlock,
Start ”under Vehicle
Personalization 0154.
Temporarily Disable Passive Locking
Feature
Temporarily disable the passive
locking by pressing and holding
Kon
the interior door switch with a door
open for at least four seconds or until
three chimes are heard. Passive
locking will then remain disabled until
Qon the interior door is pressed or
until the vehicle is turned on.
Remote Left In Vehicle Alert
When the vehicle is turned off and a
remote is left in the vehicle, the horn
will chirp three times after all doors
are closed. To turn on or off see
Vehicle Personalization 0154. Auto Door Relock
If a door is not opened or the vehicle
is not started within three minutes of
unlocking the vehicle and disarming
the alarm system with the RKE
transmitter, all doors are
automatically locked and the vehicle
alarm system is re-armed. This can be
turned on or off in through vehicle
personalization. See
Vehicle
Personalization 0154.
Keyless Liftgate Opening
Press the touch pad on the rear of the
liftgate above the license plate to open
the liftgate when all doors are
unlocked or when the transmitter is
within 1 m (3 ft).
Keyless Liftglass Opening
Press the exterior liftglass button to
open the liftglass when all doors are
unlocked when the transmitter is
within 1 m (3 ft).
Key Access
To access a vehicle with a dead
transmitter battery, see Door
Locks 034.
Programming Transmitters to
the Vehicle
Only RKE transmitters programmed to
the vehicle will work. If a transmitter
is lost or stolen, a replacement can be
purchased and programmed through
your dealer. When the replacement
transmitter is programmed to this
vehicle, all remaining transmitters
must also be reprogrammed. Any lost
or stolen transmitters will no longer
work once the new transmitter is
programmed. Each vehicle can have
up to eight transmitters programmed
to it. See your dealer to program
transmitters to the vehicle.
Starting the Vehicle with a Low
Transmitter Battery
If the transmitter battery is weak or if
there is interference with the signal,
the DIC may display NO REMOTE
DETECTED or NO REMOTE KEY WAS
DETECTED PLACE KEY IN
TRANSMITTER POCKET THEN
START YOUR VEHICLE when starting
the vehicle. See Key and Lock
Messages 0147.

manually close the liftgate. This will
allow normal power operation
functions to resume.
If the vehicle is locked while the
liftgate is closing, and an obstacle
prevents the liftgate from completely
closing, the horn will sound as an
alert that the liftgate did not close.
Pinch sensors are on the side edges of
the liftgate. If an object is caught
between the liftgate and the vehicle
and presses against a sensor, the
liftgate will reverse direction and stop
at a partially open position. The
liftgate will remain open until it is
activated again or closed manually.
Setting the 3/4 Mode
To change the position the liftgate
stops at when opening:1. Select MAX or 3/4 mode and open the liftgate.
2. Stop the liftgate movement at the desired height by pressing
any liftgate button. Manually
adjust the liftgate position if
needed. 3. Press and hold
lon the
bottom edge of the liftgate next
to the latch on the outside of the
liftgate until the turn signals
flash and a beep sounds. This
indicates the setting has been
recorded.
The liftgate cannot be set below a
minimum programmable height.
If there is no light flash or sound,
then the height adjustment may be
too low.
Manual Operation
Select OFF to manually operate the
liftgate.
Caution
Attempting to move the liftgate too
quickly and with excessive force
may result in damage to the
vehicle.
Operate the liftgate manually with a
smooth motion and moderate speed.
The system includes a feature which
limits the manual closing speed to
protect the components.
To open the liftgate, pressKon the
power door lock switch or press
Kon
the RKE transmitter twice to unlock
all doors. Press the touch pad (1) on
the underside of the liftgate handle
and lift up.
Press the button (2) above the license
plate to open the liftglass, or press
c
twice quickly on the RKE transmitter.
Do not leave the liftglass open when
raising the liftgate.
There will be a delay in the release of
the liftglass if there is an attempt to
open it while the rear wiper is in
motion.

Vehicle Security
This vehicle has theft-deterrent
features; however, they do not make
the vehicle impossible to steal.
Vehicle Alarm System
The indicator light, on the instrument
panel near the windshield, indicates
the status of the system.
Off :Alarm system is disarmed.
On Solid : Vehicle is secured during
the delay to arm the system. Fast Flash :
Vehicle is unsecured.
A door, the liftgate, or the hood
is open.
Slow Flash : Alarm system is armed.
Arming the Alarm System
1. Turn off the vehicle.
2. Lock the vehicle in one of
three ways:
.Use the RKE transmitter.
. Use the Keyless Access
system.
. With a door open, press
Q
on the interior of the door.
3. After 30 seconds, the alarm system will arm and the
indicator light will begin to
slowly flash. Pressing
Qon the
RKE transmitter a second time
will bypass the 30-second delay
and immediately arm the alarm
system.
The vehicle alarm system will not arm
if the doors are locked with the key. If the driver door is opened without
first unlocking with the RKE
transmitter, the horn will chirp and
the lights will flash to indicate
pre-alarm. If the vehicle is not started,
or the door is not unlocked by
pressing
Kon the RKE transmitter
during the 10-second pre-alarm, the
alarm will be activated.
The alarm will also be activated if a
passenger door, the liftgate, or the
hood is opened without first
disarming the system. When the
alarm is activated, the turn signals
flash and the horn sounds for about
30 seconds. The alarm system will
then re-arm to monitor for the next
unauthorized event.
Disarming the Alarm System
To disarm the alarm system or turn
off the alarm if it has been activated:
. Press
Kon the RKE transmitter.
. Unlock the vehicle using the
Keyless Access system.
. Start the vehicle.

To avoid setting off the alarm by
accident:
.Lock the vehicle after all
occupants have exited.
. Always unlock a door with the
RKE transmitter, or use the
Keyless Access system.
Unlocking the driver door with the
key will not disarm the system or
turn off the alarm.
How to Detect a Tamper
Condition
IfKis pressed on the RKE
transmitter and the horn chirps and
the lights flash three times, an alarm
occurred previously while the alarm
system was armed.
If the alarm has been activated, a
message will appear on the DIC. See
Security Messages 0151.
Immobilizer Operation
This vehicle has a passive
theft-deterrent system.
The system does not have to be
manually armed or disarmed. The vehicle is automatically
immobilized when the vehicle is
turned off.
The immobilization system is
disarmed when the ignition button is
pressed in and a valid transmitter is
found in the vehicle.
The security light in the instrument
cluster comes on if there is a problem
with arming or disarming the
theft-deterrent system.
The system has one or more
transmitters matched to an
immobilizer control unit in the
vehicle. Only a correctly matched
transmitter will start the vehicle.
If the transmitter is ever damaged,
you may not be able to start the
vehicle.
If the engine does not start and the
security light stays on, there is a
problem with the system. Turn the
vehicle off and try again.
If the RKE transmitter appears to be
undamaged, try another transmitter or
place the transmitter in the
transmitter pocket/insert next to the
center console storage area between
the driver and front passenger seats.

If the engine does not start with the
other transmitter or when the
transmitter is in the pocket/insert, the
vehicle needs service. See your dealer
who can service the theft-deterrent
system and have a new transmitter
programmed to the vehicle.
Do not leave the transmitter or device
that disarms or deactivates the
theft-deterrent system in the vehicle.
