Driving
A WARNING
-Always switch th e ignit ion off and take the
vehicle key with you when leav ing the veh i­
cle, eve n for a short per iod of t ime . This ap­
plies particularly when chi ld ren remain in
the ve hicle. Othe rwi se, children coul d sta rt
the engine, re le ase the p arki ng bra ke o r op­
er ate ele ctrica l equipmen t such as power
windows, which increases the risk of an acci ­
dent.
- When the vehicle is loc ke d , no one -particu ­
larly not children -sho uld rema in in the ve­
hicle . Locked doors make it more difficult
f or eme rgency workers to get into the vehi­
cle, which p uts lives at risk.
Starting from a stop
The hold assist function ensures that the parking
brake releases automatically when the vehicle
starts moving .

" When you pr ess t he accelerator pedal, the
par king b rake is autom atically released and
yo ur vehicle begins to move.

does not have to be he ld with the brake pedal.
The parking brake e liminates the tendency to
creep when a selector lever position is engaged .
The par king b rake releases automatica lly and the
ve hicle beg ins to move as soon as you press the
accelerator pedal as usual.
Starting on hills
When starting on hills, hill start assist prevents
the vehicle from un intent iona lly rolling back. The
braking force of the parking brake does not re­
lease until the wheels bu ild up enoug h driving
force.

Fo r safety reasons, the par king brake only re­
l eases automatically when the drive r's door is
closed.
Starting to drive with a trailer
To prevent rolling back unintentionally on a hill,
do the following:
.. Keep the(®} switch pulled and press the acce l­
erator pedal. The parking brake remains set
and prevents the ve hicle from roll ing backwar d.
.. You can release the<®> switch once you a re sure
that you are giv ing enough driv ing force to the
wheels by pressing the accelerator pedal.
Depend ing on the weight of t he rig (vehicle and
trailer) and the steepness of the incline, you may
r oll backward as you start.
Emergency braking function
In the event that the standard brake system fails
or locks up.
.. To brake your veh icle in an eme rgency, pull the
<® > switch and ho ld it pulled.
.. As soon as you re lease the <®> switch or acceler-
ate, the braking stops.
P ulli ng and ho ld ing the C®l switch wh ile driving
the ve hicle activates the eme rgency brak ing func­
tion. The ve hicle brakes at all four wheels by acti­
vat ing the braking hydraulics . T he braking effect
i s sim ila r to mak ing a n emergency stop .

To reduce the risk of act ivat ing the emergency
braking by m istake, an audib le warning tone
(buzzer) sounds w hen the C®l switch is pulled.

A WARNING
Eme rgen cy braking sho uld only be used i n an
emergency, when the normal brake pedal has

Rear mode and the corner view

mode only when the luggage com­
partment lid is fully closed. Otherwise the
image in the display will be incorrect.
- The vehicle surroundings are shown using
the camera images . The vehicle image is
shown by the system. Objects and obstacles
above the camera are not displayed.
Parking systems
-Camera lenses enlarge and distort the field
of vision. The objects appear both altered
and inexact on the screen .

- The Infotainment display shows the direc­
tion in which the rear of the vehicle is travel­ ing based on the steering wheel angle. The
front of the vehicle swings out more than
the rear of the vehicle . Maintain plenty of
distance so that an exterior mirror or a cor­
ner of the vehicle does not collide with any
obstacles.

If the 8/fl;!J/c::5 symbol appears in the dis­
play and the respective display area is grayed
out, then the power exterior mirrors were
folded in or the driver's door/front passeng­
er's door/luggage compartment lid was
opened.

cidents!
- Press the accelerator pedal carefully when
accelerating on smooth, slippery surfaces
such as ice and snow. The drive wheels can spin even when these control systems are
installed and this can affect driving stability
and increase the risk of a coll ision.

- The ABS and ASR only function correctly
when all four wheels have a sim ilar wear
condition. Different tire sizes can lead to a
reduction in engine power.
- You may hear noises when the systems de­
scribed are working.

The steeri ng whee l will be easy to move after
start ing the engine. Reinitiali zation might be
necessary if the steering wheel was moved whi le
the engine was sw itched off . The disp lay turns
off if the initializat ion was successf ul.

tires or wide tires are installed -

four wheels must be equipped
with tires that are the same brand
and have the same construction
and tread pattern so that the
drive system is not damaged by
different tire speeds . For this rea­
son, in case of emergency, only

A WARNING
Wheel bolts that are tightened or repaired in­
correctly can become loose and result in loss
of vehicle control, which increases the risk of
an accident. For the correct t ightening specifi ­
cation, refer to ¢

-Always keep the wheel bolts and the
threads in the wheel hub clean and free of
grease .
- Only use wheel bolts that fit the rim .
- Always have damaged rims repaired by an
authorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi
Service Facility . Never repair or disassemble
rims yourself, because this increases the risk
of an accident.
Winter tires
W inter tires significantly improve the vehicle's
handling when driving in winter conditions. Be­
cause of their construction (width, compound,
tread pattern) , summer tires provide less trac­
tion on ice and snow.

.,. Only use winter tires that are approved for your
vehicle.
.,. Please note that the maximum permitted
speed may be lowe r with winter tires

The effectiveness of winter tires is reduced great­
ly when the tread is worn down to a depth of
0 .16 in (4 mm) . The characteristics of winter
tires also decrease great ly as the tire ages, re­
gardless of the remaining tread .
A WARNING
-Never drive faster than the maximum per­
mitted speed for your tires. This could cause
the tires to heat up too much. This increases

the risk of an accident because it can cause
the tire to burst.
- Always adapt your driving to the road and
traffic conditions . Drive carefully and reduce
your speed on icy or slippery roads . Even
winter tires can lose traction on black ice .
@ For the sake of the environment
Reinstall summer tires at the appropriate
time, because they prov ide better handling
when roads are free of snow and ice. Summer
tires cause less road noise, tire wear and fuel
consumpt ion .
(D Tips
You can also use all season tires instead of
winter tires. Please note that in some coun­
tries where winter tires are required, only
winter tires w ith the ~ symbol are permitted .
Snow chains
Snow cha ins not only improve the driving in win­
ter road condit ions, but also the braking.
.,. Only install snow chains on the
front wheels .
This applies a lso to vehicles with all wheel
drive* .
.,. Check and correct the seating of the snow
chains after driving a few feet, if necessary. Fol­
low the instructions from the manufacturer.
.,. Note the maximum permitted speed when driv­
ing with snow chains. Do not exceed 30 mph
(SO km/h) .
Use of snow chains is only permitted with certain
rim/tire combinations due to technical reasons.
Check with an authorized Audi deale r or author­
ized Audi Service Facility to see if you may use
snow chains .
Use
fine-mesh snow chains. They must not add
more than 0.53 in (13 .5 mm) in height, including
the chain lock.
You must remove the snow chains on roads with­
out snow. Otherwise , you could impair driving
ability and damage the tires .
