the gauges reduces automat ically and even

creases. This function reminds the driver to

time.

Coolant temperature indicator
The coolant temperatu re display (D ¢ page 10,
fig. 4 or ¢ page 10, fig . 3 only funct ions when
the ignition is switched on . To prevent engine
damage, please observe the following notes
about the temperature ranges.
Cold range
If onl y the L EDs at the bottom o f th e ga uge turn
on, the engine has not reached operating tem pe rature yet. Avoid high engine speeds, full ac
cele rat ing and heavy engine loads.
Normal range
The engine h as reached its oper ating temper a
ture once the LEDs up to the center o f the ga uge
turn on. If
the . indicator lig ht in the instru-
~ ment cluster display turns on, the coolant tern-
~ perature is too high ¢ page 28 .

-Auxi liary headlights and other accessories in
front of the coo ling-air intake impai r the
cooling effect of the coolant. This increases
the risk of the engine overheating dur ing
hig h outside temperatures and heavy en

-The front spoiler a lso helps to distribute
cooling air correctly while driving. If the
spoiler is damaged, the coo ling effect will
be impaired and the r is k of the eng ine ove r

er environmenta l facto rs and traffic condit ions.
Activ ating high b eam assistant
Requirement: the light sw itch must be set to AU
TO, the low beams must be sw itched on, and the
high beam assistant must be sw itched on in the

In vehicles with a rain sensor, the wipers turn on
in the rain once the vehicle speed exceeds ap
proximately 2 mph (4 km/h). The higher the sen
sitivity of the rain sensor is set (switch @to the
right), the earlier the windshield wipers react to
mo isture on the windshield . You can deact ivate
the ra in sensor mode in the Infotainment sys
tem, which switches the intermittent mode on.

®-Clean the windshield To eliminate water
droplets, the w indshield wipers perform one af
terw ipe after several seconds while dr iv ing in
temperatures above 39 °F (4 °C) . You can switch
th is function off by moving the lever to posit ion
@ with in 10 seconds of the afterw ipe . The after
wipe function is reac tivated the next time you
switch the ignition on.
Clean the headlights. The headlig ht washe r sys
tem operates only when the low beam headlights
are on . If you move the lever in
posi tion @, the
headlig hts will be cleaned in fixed intervals .

@ -Wipe the rear window. The rear w iper moves
abo ut eve ry 6 seconds.
The rear wiper automatically switches on when
the reverse gear is selected and the front wind
shield wipe rs a re on and running.

-The rain sensor* is only in tended to assist
the dr iver. The driver may still be responsi

favorable conditions, such as wetness, dark
ness, and when the sun is low, can cause in
creased glare, wh ich increases the risk of an
accident. Wiper blade chatter is also possi ble.

Starting/driving the vehicle

Driving
The vehicle starts with the electric motor after
establishing the dr ive ready mode and if the con
ditions for electric drive mode have been met

The conditions to drive are essentially the same
as for the automatic transmission

You and your passengers should anticipate the
possibility of a sporty acce leration.
Ending drive ready mode
- Place the selector lever in the P position.
- Switch the ignition off with the
I STAR T STOPI
button.
Vehicle sound
The vehicle generates an electronic engine sound
so that your vehicle can be heard from the out
side when in electr ic drive mode. The veh icle
sound automatically fades out at higher speeds
when the sounds from the tires and wind start in
creasing.

Switching the ignition on/off
You can switch the ignition on without establish
ing drive ready mode.
- Press the
I START STOP ! button to switch the
ign ition on and off. Do not press the brake ped
al whi le doing this.
When the ignition is sw itched on, the needle
points at

No indicator lights stay turned on when the igni
tion is switched off .
Ignition is switched off automatically
To prevent the vehicle battery from draining, the
ignition will switch off automatically under the
follow ing cond it ions:
- The vehicle must have already been driven.
- The vehicle is stationary.
- The gasoline engine must not be runn ing .
- The driver's door must be open.
- The driver's safety belt must be unbuckled .
- The brake pedal must not be pressed.
In this case, the activated low beam is replaced
by the parking light. The message
