General information
... Park the vehicle as far as possible from moving
traffic in the event of a breakdown. In the event
of a flat tir e, park the vehicle on a level surface .
It you are on a steep hill, be especially careful.
.,. Set the parking brake .
.,. Switch the emergency flashers on .
... Set up the warning triangle

... Have the passengers exit the vehicle . They
should move to a safe place, for example be
hind a guard rail.

Follow the steps given above. This is for your
protection and the for the safety of other driv
ers.

Warning triangle
Applies to: vehicles with warning triangle

The warning triangle placed in the vehicle at the
factory is located in the luggage compartment.
... To remove the warning triangle, press the fas-
tener in the direction of the arrow and fold the
holder down.
The luggage compartment lid is only designed to
hold the warning triangle offered by th e Audi
Genuine Accessories program.

The vehicle tools and vehicle jack* are stored in
the luggage compartment under the floor cover .
... Lift the cargo floor by the plastic handle .
... Hook the handle into the luggage compartment
seal

.,. Turn the handwheel counter-clockwise and re
move it .
.,. Remove the spare tire* to access the vehicle
tool kit

Depend ing on the equipment , the veh icle tool kit
may be located under the spare tire, under an
other cover or in the tool box.
T he position of the vehicle jack* may vary .
A WARNING
Improper use of the veh icle jack can cause se
rious personal injuries.
- Never use the screw driver hex head to
tighten wheel bolts, since the bolts cannot
attain the necessary tightening torque if you .,..

7. Tighten all wheel bo lts light ly .
8. Lower the veh icle with the jack .
9. Use the whee l bolt wrench and firmly tighten
all whee l bolts

10. Replace the decorative wheel cover* .
11. Deactivate the vehicle jack mode in the MMI:

mode > Off .
The vehicle jack mode switches off automat ically
at s peeds above
10 km/ h.

After changing a wheel
A wheel change is not complete without the do
ing the following.
• Always store the veh icle tool kit, the jack* a nd
the replaced t ire in the luggage compartment
<=:> page 213.
• Che ck the tire pressure on the sp are whee l im
med iate ly after mo unti ng it .
• As soon as possible, have the
tightening tor
ques
on all whee l bo lts chec ked with a torque
wrench. The correct tightening torque is 90 ft
lb
(120 N m).
• Have the flat tire
replaced as soon as possible.
(D Tips
- If you notice t hat the whee l bolts are cor
r oded and diffic ult to t urn w hile cha nging a
tire, they should be rep laced before you
c heck the tighte ning torque .
- Drive at reduced speed until you have the
tighte ning torques c hecke d.
- After changing a wheel, the tire pressure in
all four tires must be c heck ed/co rrect ed a nd
the tire press ure mon itor ing indicato r must
be stor ed in the MM I

Removing
• Insert t he hook (p rovided w ith the vehicle tool

Wheels with wheel bolt caps
Applies to: vehicles wit h wheel bolts with caps
The cops mus t be removed fir st from the wheel
bol ts before the bol ts con be unscrewed.

Removing
• Push t he plastic clip (prov ided with the vehicle
tool kit) over the whee l bolt cap until the inne r
reta iners on the clip a lign with t he edge of the
cover.

Refitting
• Place the caps over the whee l bolts and push
them back on .

Tires with unidirectional tread design must be
mounted with their tread pattern pointed in the
right dir ection .
Using a spare tire w ith a tread pattern
intended for use in a specific direction
When using a spare t ire with a tread patte rn in
ten ded fo r use in a specific direction, please note
the following:
- The direct io n of rotat io n is ma rked by an a rrow
o n the side of the tire .
- If the spare tire has to be installed in the incor
rect d irection, use the spare tire only tempora
rily s ince the tire w ill not be ab le to achieve its
opt imum performanc e ch a rac teristics wi th re
g ard to a quaplaning, noi se and we ar.
- We recommend that you pay particular atten
t io n t o thi s fa ct du ring we t wea ther and that
y ou adju st your s peed to m atch r oad co ndi
ti ons .
- R eplace t he flat tir e wi th a new one and have i t
i n st alled on yo ur vehicle as soon as possible to
r es to re the handlin g advanta ges of a unidi rec
tiona l tire .
Notes on wheel changing
P lease read the info rmation
<=> page 29 0 if you
are going to use a spare tire which is different
from t he tires on your vehicle.
Afte r you change a ti re:
- Check the tire pressure on the spare immedi
ately after installation.
- Have the wheel bolt tightening torque
checked with a torque wrench as soon as pos
sible by your authorized Audi dealer or a
qualified service station.
- With steel and alloy wheel rims, the wheel
bolts are correctly tightened at a torque of 90
ft lb (120 Nm).
- If you notice that the wheel bolts are corroded
and diff icult to turn while changing a tire,
they should be replaced before you check the
tightening torque .
Emergency assistance
-Replace the flat tire with a new one and have
it installed on your vehicle as soon as possi
ble. Remount the wheel cover .
Until then , drive with extra care and at reduced
speeds.

were factory installed, the n be sure to read
