Cockpit overview
_& WARNING
The route calculated by the navigation system
is a recommendation for reaching your desti­
nation. Obey traffic lights, stopping restric­
tions, one-way streets, lane change restric­
tions, etc.
An asterisk
" *" in front of the street name in­
dicates that the information about this street
or this section of the route is not complete in
the navigation data that the MMI contains .
Obey traffic laws in one-way streets and pe­
destr ian zones.
Time and date display

The date and time are shown in the instrument
cluster display . There is also an ana log clock in
the center console

When you open the driver's door, the date and
time appear in the display for 30 seconds . When
the ignition is switched on, the time is always dis­
played in the status line © regardless of the cur­
rent d isplay.
You can set the time on both clocks and the date (disp lay) in the Infotainment system
<=:> page 204.

The Head-up Display pro jects certain warnings or
selected information from the assist systems* or
navigation* on the windshield. The display ap­
pears within the driver's field of vision.
Switching on/off

The height of the display can be adjusted to the

-The power seats can also be adjusted when
the ignition is switched off. For this reason,
children should never be left unattended in
the vehicle - they could be injured!
- Be careful when ad justing the seat. Unsu­
pervised or careless seat adjustment can
pinch fingers o r hands ca using injur ies.
- Applies to vehicles with reclining seat*:
- Do not use the fron t passenger's seat for
seating when it is in the reclining position .
This increases the risk of serious injury or
death.
- Never adjust the reclining position when
the front passenger 's seat is occupied.
This increases the risk of injury.
- Do not tilt the display if the driver's view
of the right exterior mirror w ill be ob ­
structed .
- Make sure the area between the leg sup­
port and the front passenger 's seat back­
rest is clear before folding the leg support
in so that you are not pinched.

- The massage function switches off auto ­
matically after approx imately 10 minutes.
- If you
cannot ad just the reclining seat * or
the front passenger's seat from the rear, it is possible that:

Massage function remote control
Applies to: vehicles with reclining seat and massage function

The remote controls are located in the rear cen­
ter console ¢ page 62, fig. 72 . The massage
funct ion is only ava ilable when the ignition is
switched on.
.,. To open the remote control compartment,
press the left button and fold the center arm­
rest upward .
.,. To adjust the massage type, press the appropr i­
ate button @·@ . The LED in the button turns
on .
.,. To adjust the speed/inte nsity, turn the thumb­
wheel @I® . The LEDs indicate the speed/in­
tensity.
.. Press the selected massage type again to
sw itch the massage function off.

- The massage function switches off auto ­

The memo ry buttons are located in the driver's
door, front passenger's door and in the rear
doors*.
Sw itch ing the mem ory function on /off
• Press the IOFF I button to switch the memory
funct ion on/off. The LE D in the button tu rns on
when the memory function is
off. Seat profiles
are neither stored nor recalled.
Storing a seat pr ofi le
• Press the ISE TI button. When the wo rd S ET
ligh ts up, the memory is ready to store set ­
tings .
• Now press a memory button briefly . A tone
confirms that the settings were stored .
Accessing a seat profile
• If the drive r's door is open and the ig nit ion is
swi tched off, press the memory b utton .
• If the driver's door is closed or the ignition is
switched on , press and ho ld the memory but­
ton until the seat adjustment is comp lete.
A WARNING
- For safety reasons, the seat setting can only
be recalled when the vehicle is stationary,
otherw ise there is a risk of an accide nt.
- If necessary, you can stop the recall process
by pressing the
I OFF! button or any memory
button.
Adjusting the front passenger 's seat in the
Infotainment system
Applies to: vehicles with memory function
The driver can move the front passenger's seat
into various positions .

The lumbar support and upper thigh support

The 12-vol t sockets can be used for e lectr ica l ac­
cessories . The power consumption at the out let
must not exceed 120 watts.

Sea ts and stor age
- Wit h some power supply units, such as for
l aptops, switching them on disables the in ­
tegrated overcurrent shutdown . In this
case, disconnect the powe r supply unit from
the electrical equipment and reconnect af­
ter approximately 10 seconds.
@ Tips
- Devices that are not shie lded or dev ices near
the rear w indow antenna can cause mal­
functions in the radio, TV area or in the vehi ­
cle elect rical system.
- The functions on some devices may be limit­
ed d ue to the low powe r output (wattage) .

- Do not use any breakable beverage contain­
ers (for example, made out of glass or po r­
celain). You cou ld be injured by them in the
event of an accident .
Seats and storag e

Beverage containers in the cup holders should
a lways have a lid . If not , beverages could spill
and cause damage to vehicle equipment, such
electron ics or seat covers.
Cooled glove compartment
T he cooled glove compartment only functions
when the AIC system is swi tched on.

Parking system plus provides audio and visual
signals when parking .

Sensors are located in the front and rear bump­
e rs. If these detect an obstacle , audible and visu­
al signa ls warn you.
Make sure the sensors are not covered by stick­
ers, depos its or any other obstructions as it may

Vi sual d isplay
T he segments in front of and behind the veh icle
help you to determine the distance between you
and an obstacle .
T he red lines mark the expected direction of trav­
el according to the steering angle. A white seg­
ment indicates an identified obstacle that is out­
side of the vehicle 's path. Red segments show
identified obstacles that are in your vehicle's
path . As your vehicle comes closer to the obsta­
cle, the segments move close r to the veh icle . The
collision area has been reached when the next to
last segment is displayed. Obstacles in the colli­
s io n area, in cl uding those ou ts ide of the vehicle's

the display appear closer or farther away:
- For objects that do not touch the ground,
such as the bumper of a parked vehicle, a
trailer hitch or the rear of a truck. Do not
use the orientation lines in this case.
- If driven from a level surface onto an in­
cline, or a downward slope.
- If driven toward protruding objects.
- If the vehicle is carrying too much load in
the rear.
- The accuracy of the orientation lines and
blue surfaces decreases when the vehicle is
