Check ing and F illing
CJ) Note
Driving with an insufficient oil level is likely to
cause severe damage to the engine .
@ Tips
-The oil pre ssure warn ing display. is not
an ind icato r of the oil l evel. Do not rel y on
it. In stead , che ck th e oil le vel in your e n
gi ne a t regul ar int ervals, prefe rably e ach
t ime you re fuel , and al ways befo re go ing
on a long trip .
-If you have the impression your engine con
sumes excessive amounts of oil, we recom
mend that you consult an authorized Aud i
dealer to have the cause of your concern
properly d iagnosed . Keep in mind that the
accurate measurement of oil consumpt ion
r equi res great ca re and may take some
time. An authorized Audi dealer has instruc
tions about how to measure oil consump
tion accurately.
Checking the engine oil level
The engine oil level can be checked in the Info
tainment system
.. Park you r vehicle on a level surface.
.. Shut the engine off when it is warm.
.. Switch only the ignition back on.
.. Wait approximately two minut es .
.. Se lect in the Infotainment system: the

button > Ve hicle > left cont rol button > S er vice
& c h ecks > Oil lev el.
.. Check the oil level in the Infotainment system
display . Add engine oil if the bar in the oil level
indicato r is near "min "¢
page 308 .
The engine oil consumpt ion may be up to
0 .5 quart pe r 600 miles (0.5 l iter/1,000 km), de
pending on driving style and operating condi
tions. Consumption may be highe r d uring the
fi rst 3 ,000 mi les (5,000 km). Because of this, the
engine o il level must be checked regu larly. I t
wou ld be best to check each time you refuel your
vehicle and before long drives .

(D Tips
The oil level indicator in the disp lay is only an
i nformat ional disp lay .
If the oil leve l is too
l ow, a min imum oil warning appears in the in
strument cluster. Add oil and close the hood.
The current oil level is displayed in the instru
ment cluster the next t ime the ignition is
switched on.

.. Add more o il if necessary.
.. Close the engine oi l filler opening cap .
A WARNING
-When adding oil, do not let oil drip onto hot
engine components. This increases the risk
of a fire.
- You must secure the cap on the oil f iller
open ing correctly so that oil does not leak
out onto the hot engine and exhaust system
when the engine is runn ing, because this is
a fire hazard .
- Always clean sk in thoroughly if it comes into
contact with eng ine oil.

Wheel s
Bead separation
means a breakdown of the bond
between components in the bead .
Cord
means the strands forming the
plies in the tire.
Cold tire inflation pressure
means the tire pressure recom
mended by the vehicle manufac
turer for a tire of a designated
size that has not been driven for more than a couple of miles (kilo
meters) at low speeds in the
three hour period before the tire
pressure is measured or adjusted.
Curb weight
means the weight of a motor ve
hicle with standard equipment in
cluding the maximum capacity of
fuel, oil, and coolant, air condi
tioning and additional weight of
optional equipment.
E x tra load tire
means a tire designed to operate
at higher loads and at higher in
flation pressures than the corre sponding standard tire . Extra load
tires may be identified as "XL",
"xl", "EXTRA LOAD", or "RF" on
the sidewal l.
320
Gross Axle Weight Rating
("GAWR ")
means the load-carrying capacity
of a single axle system, measured
at the tire -ground interfaces .
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating
(" GVWR ")
means the maximum total loaded
weight of the vehicle .
Groove
means the space between two ad
jacent tread ribs .
Load rating (code )
means the maximum load that a
tire is rated to carry for a given in
flation pressure. You may not find
this information on all tires be
cause it is not required by law.
Ma ximum load rating
means the load rating for a tire at
the maximum permissible infla tion pressure for that tire.
Ma ximum loaded vehicle
weight
means the sum of :
(a) Curb weight
(b) Accessory weight
(c) Vehicle capacity weight, and
(d) Production options we ight

Wheels
-The tire must flex more if the tire pressure is too low or if
the vehicle speed or load are
too high . This heats the tire up
too much. This increases the
risk of an accident because it
can cause the tire to burst and
result in loss of vehicle con
trol.
-Incorrect tire pressure in creases tire wear and has a
negative effect on driving and
braking behavior, which in
creases the risk of an accident.
(D Note
Replace lost valve caps to re
duce the risk of damage to the
tire valves.
Tire pressure table
Please note that the information
contained in the following table
was correct at the time of print
ing, and the information is sub
ject to change. If there are differ
ences between this information
and the tire pressures specified
on the label on the driver's side 8-pillar, always follow the specifica
tion on the 8-pillar label
¢ page 327, fig. 255.
328
(i} For the sake of the environment
-Tire pressure that is too low
increases fuel consumption.
-Fuel consumption may also in
crease when driving with the
comfort tire pressure is se
lected .
(D Tips
Audi recommends using the
tire pressure specified for a
normal load
¢ table on
page 329
or for a full load
when the vehicle is partially loaded.
Make sure that the tire designa
tion on your tire matches the des ignation on the tire pressure label
and the tire pressure table.
The following table lists recom mended tire pressures in cold
tires according to the load and
the size of the tires installed.

Tech nical data
Gross Axle Weight Rating
The G ross Ax le We ight Rating is the max imum
load that can be applied at each axle of the vehi
cle ¢& .
Vehicle capacity weight The vehicle capacity we ight (max. load) is l isted
on the front end of the dr iver's door.
_& WARNING
- T he ac tual Gross Axle Weight Rating a t the
front and rear axles sho uld not exceed the
permissible weights, and their combination
must not exceed the Gross Veh icle Weight
Rating.
- Exceeding pe rmissible weight ratings can
result in ve hicle damage, acc idents and per
sonal injury.
{[) Note
- The vehicle capacity weight figures app ly
when the load is distributed eve nly in the
vehicle (passengers and luggage). When
transporting a heavy load in the luggage
compartment, carry the load as near to the
r ear axle as possible so that the vehicle's
handling is not impaired.
- Do not exceed the maximum permissible
axle loads or the maximum gross vehicle
weight. Always remember tha t the vehicle's
h andling w ill be affe cted by the ext ra load.
T herefo re, adjust yo ur sp eed a ccording ly.
- Always obse rve loca l reg ulations.
