- Please note that the rear cross-traffic assist
may act ivate the brakes unexpectedly. Se­
cure any cargo that you are transporting to
reduce the risk of damage or injury .
- An additional brake act ivat ion may be tr ig­
gered within 20 seconds after an automat ic
brake activation.
- If there is an acoustic warning signa l from
the rear cross-traff ic assist, then the park­
ing system may not warn you of detected
obstacles under certa in circumstances .
- The view of the radar sensors may be im­ paired by leaves, snow, heavy spray or d irt.

A WARNING
T he rear cross-t raff ic assist is s ubject to lim i­
t at ions and cannot warn you before every im­
pending collision:
- If the vehicle is too w ide fo r the pa rki ng
spa ce and covered by the ne ighbor ing
vehicles.
- People , such as cyclis ts, jogge rs, in line skat­
ers and pedestrians, may not be detected
under certain circ umstances.
- If you are in a par allel par king sp ace.

- You can cancel the automatic brake activa ­
tion with increasing braking force if you ap­
ply the bra kes yourself or accele rate cons id­
e rab ly.
- In some s ituations, rea r cross-traffic ass ist
may warn you even if t here is no cross traffi c
i n a critic al are a, for examp le w hen ba cking
i nto a parking space or maneuver ing.
- T he rea r cross -traffic ass ist also switches off
whe n you swi tch off the ESC.
- T he rea r cross traffic assist switches on and

Side assist switches off automatically when the electrical connector in the factory-installed trail­
er hitch is connected . There is no guarantee the
system will sw itch off when using a retrofitted
trailer hitch . Do not use side assist and the ex it
warning when tow ing a tra ile r.

Care and cleaning
& WARNING
-Only wash the vehicle when the ignition is
off or follow the instruct ions from the car
wash operator to reduce the risk of acci­ dents.
- To reduce the risk of cuts, protect yourself from sha rp metal components when wash­
ing the underbody or the inside of t he wheel
hous ings.
- After was hing the vehicle, the braking effect
may be delayed due to mo isture on the
bra ke rotors o r ice i n the winte r. This in­
c reases the risk of an a cciden t. The bra kes
must be dried first with a few care ful brake
applications .
@ Note
-If you wash the ve hicle in an automa tic car
wash, yo u must fold the exterior m irrors in
to reduce the risk of damage to the mirrors.
Power folding exterior mirrors * must on ly
be fo lded in and out us ing the power folding
funct ion.
- To reduce the risk of damage to the rims
and tires, compare the width between the
whee ls on your vehicle w ith the distance be­
tween t he gu ide rai ls in the car wash. -
To red uce the risk of damage, compare the
heig ht and width of your vehicle with the
heig ht and w idth of the inside of the car
wash.
- To prevent paint damage, do not wash the
vehicle in direct sunlight.
- To reduce the risk of damage to the surface,
do not use insect removing sponges, k itchen
sponges or s imilar items.
- Matte finish painted vehicle components:
- To reduce the r isk of damage to the sur-
face, do not use polishing agents or hard
wax.
- Never use protective wax. It can destroy
the matte finish effect.
- Do not place any stickers or magnetic signs on vehicle parts pain ted with matte
finish paint. The paint could be damaged
when the stickers or magne ts are re­
moved.
@ For the sake of the environment
Only wash the veh icle in facilities spe cially de­
signed for that pu rpose. This will reduce the
r isk of dirty wate r contamina ted with o il from
entering the sewer system .
