Interior mirror
To adjust the mirror, move the mirror
housing in the desired direction.
Interior mirror 3 30, Automatic anti-
dazzle interior mirror 3 30.
Exterior mirrors
Select the relevant exterior mirror and
adjust it.
Convex exterior mirrors 3 28,
Electric adjustment 3 28, Folding
exterior mirrors 3 29, Heated
exterior mirrors 3 29.
Steering wheel adjustment
Unlock lever, adjust steering wheel,
then engage lever and ensure it is fully locked.
Do not adjust steering wheel unless
vehicle is stationary and steering
wheel lock has been released.

The selector lever can only be moved
out of P when the ignition is on and
the foot brake is applied. To engage
P or R, push the release button.

Starting off
Check before starting off ● Tyre pressure and condition 3 182, 3 212.
● Engine oil level and fluid levels 3 159.
● All windows, mirrors, exterior lighting and number plates are
free from dirt, snow and ice and
are operational.
● Proper position of mirrors, seats, and seat belts 3 28, 3 36,
3 42.
● Brake function at low speed, particularly if the brakes are wet.Starting the engine
● Turn key to position ACC
● move the steering wheel slightly to release the steering wheel lock
● manual transmission in neutral
● operate clutch and brake pedals ● automatic transmission in P or N
● do not accelerate
● diesel engines: turn key to ON for
preheating and wait until control

Keys Replacement keys
The key number is specified in the Car Pass or on a detachable tag.
The key number must be quoted
when ordering replacement keys as it
is a component of the immobiliser
system.

Key with foldaway key section
Press button to extend. To fold the
key, first press the button.

28Keys, doors and windowslights flash simultaneously. The
number and duration of alarm signals are stipulated by legislation.
The alarm can be silenced by
pressing any button of the radio
remote control or manually unlocking
the driver's door with the ignition key.
The anti-theft alarm system is
deactivated at the same time.
Immobiliser
The system is part of the ignition
switch and checks whether the
vehicle is allowed to be started with the key being used.
The immobiliser is activated
automatically after the key has been
removed from the ignition switch.
Control indicator d illuminates in the
instrument cluster when the ignition is switched on, then extinguishes. If d
remains illuminated when the ignition
is on, there is a fault in the system; the
engine cannot be started. Switch off
the ignition and remove key, wait
approx. 2 seconds and then repeat
the start attempt.
If the control indicator remains
illuminated, attempt to start the
engine using the spare key and seek
the assistance of a workshop.
Note
The immobiliser does not lock the
doors. You should always lock the
vehicle after leaving it and switch on the anti-theft alarm system 3 22,
3 26.

Convex shape
The convex exterior mirror contains
an aspherical area and reduces blind spots. The shape of the mirror makes objects appear smaller, which will
affect the ability to estimate
distances.
Electric adjustment
Select the relevant exterior mirror by
turning the switch to left (L) or right
(R) . Then swivel the control to adjust
the mirror.

For pedestrian safety, the exterior
mirrors will swing out of their normal
mounting position if they are struck
with sufficient force. Reposition the mirror by applying slight pressure tothe mirror housing.
Manual folding
Press lightly on the outside of the
mirror housing to fold in the exterior
mirrors.
Electric folding
With ignition switch in positions ACC
or ON , press n and both exterior
mirrors will fold in.
Press n again - both exterior mirrors
return to their original position.
If an electrically folded mirror is
manually extended, pressing n will
only electrically extend the other
mirror. Pressing n again folds both
mirrors back in.
Fold mirrors back to the driving
position before driving the vehicle.
Heated mirrors
Operated by pressing RÜ . LED
illuminates in the button.
Heating works with the key in ignition
switch positions ACC or ON and is
switched off automatically after a
short time.
To avoid discharging the battery,
operate only with the engine running. Do not operate when you are juststarting the vehicle, or if there is a
build up of snow or ice on the exterior
mirrors.

abrasive cleaners on the exterior
mirrors and avoid scratching or
damaging the heating elements.
Automatic dimming
Exterior mirror on the driver's side
dims to reduce glare automatically in
conjunction with the automatic anti-
dazzle interior mirror 3 30.
Interior mirrors
Manual anti-dazzle
To reduce dazzle, adjust the lever on the underside of the mirror housing.
Automatic anti-dazzle
Press button on mirror housing to turn
function on; button illuminates and
dazzle from following vehicles at night
is automatically reduced. Press
button again to turn function off.
There are two light sensors in the
mirror housing. To avoid interference
and loss of function, do not cover the
sensors or hang anything on the mirror.
