LOCK
The steering is locked and all electrical
systems are off. The key can be re-
moved.
To lock the steering1. Turn the handlebars all the way to
the left.
2. With the key in the “OFF” position, push the key in and turn it to
“LOCK”.
3. Remove the key.
TIPIf the steering will not lock, try turning
the handlebars back to the right slight-
ly.To unlock the steering1. Insert the key.
2. With the key in the “LOCK” posi- tion, push the key in and turn it to
“OFF”.

(Parkin g)
The steering is locked, and the taillight,
license plate light and auxiliary light are
on. The hazard lights and turn signal lights can be turned on, but all other
electrical systems are off. The key can
be removed.
The steering must be locked before the
key can be turned to “ ”.

neutral position. The neutral indi-
cator light should come on. If not,
ask a Yamaha dealer to check the
electrical circuit.
3. Start the engine by pushing the start switch.
If the engine fails to start, release
the start switch, wait a few sec-
onds, and then try again. Each
starting attempt should be as
short as possible to preserve the
battery. Do not crank the engine
more than 10 seconds on any one

amount of engine power available for
starting off, accelerating, climbing hills,
etc.
The gear positions are shown in the il-

travel, and then slightly raise it.
