COROLLA_TMMMS_TMMC_U (OM12J84U)
Auto anti-glare inside rear view mirror
Responding to the level of brightness of the headlights of vehicles
behind, the reflected light is automatically reduced.
Changing automatic anti-glare
function mode
On/off
When the automatic anti-glare
function is in ON mode, the indica-
tor illuminates.
Vehicles without a smart key sys-
tem: The function will set to ON
mode each time the engine switch
is turned to the “ON” position.
Pressing the button turns the func-
tion to OFF mode. (The indicator
also turns off.)
Vehicles with a smart key system: The function will set to ON mode each
time the engine switch is turned to IGNITION ON mode.
Pressing the button turns the function to OFF mode. (The indicator also
turns off.)
n To prevent sensor error (vehicles with an auto anti-glare inside rear view
mirror)
Indicator
To ensure that the sensors operate prop-
erly, do not touch or cover them.
CAUTION
Do not adjust the position of the mirror while driving.
Doing so may lead to mishandling of the vehicle and cause an accident,
resulting in death or serious injury.
1924-3. Operating the lights and wipers
COROLLA_TMMMS_TMMC_U (OM12J84U)
With the headlights on, push
the lever away from you to turn
on the high beams.
Pull the lever toward you to the
center position to turn the high
beams off.
Pull the lever toward you and
release it to flash the high
beams once.
You can flash the high beams with the headlights on or off.
nDaytime running light system
lTo make your vehicle more visible to other drivers during daytime driving,
the daytime running lights turn on automatically whenever the engine is
started and the parking brake is released with the headlight switch in the
“DRL”, “ ”, “ ”, or “AUTO” position. (Illuminate darker than head-
light low beams.) Daytime running lights are not designed for use at night.
For the U.S.A.: Daytime running lights can be turned off by operating the
switch.
l Compared to turning on the headlights, the daytime running light system
offers greater durability and consumes less electricity, so it can help improve
fuel economy.
n Headlight control sensor (if equipped)
Turning on the high beam headlights

The sensor may not function properly if an
object is placed on the sensor, or anything
that blocks the sensor is affixed to the
windshield.
Doing so interferes with the sensor
detecting the level of ambient light and
may cause the automatic headlight sys-
tem to malfunction.

l Vehicles without a smart key system: The engine switch is in the “ACC” or
“LOCK” position.
l Vehicles with a smart key system: The engine switch is turned to ACCES-
SORY mode or turned off.
This function will be canceled in any of the following situations:
l Vehicles without a smart key system: When the engine switch is turned to
the “ON” position.
l Vehicles with a smart key system: When the engine switch is turned to IGNI-
TION ON mode.
l When the light switch is operated
l When the door or trunk is opened or closed
n Customization
Settings (e.g. light sensor sensitivity) can be changed.
(Customizable features: P. 576)

nConditions unfavorable to correct operation
The compass may not show the correct direction in the following conditions:
lThe vehicle is stopped immediately after turning.
l The vehicle is on an inclined surface.
l The vehicle is in a place where the earth's magnetic field is subject to inter-
ference by artificial magnetic fiel ds (underground car park/parking lot, under
a steel tower, between buildings, roof car park/parking lot, near an intersec-
tion, near a large vehicle, etc.).
l The vehicle has become magnetized.
(There is a magnet or metal object near the inside rear view mirror.)
l The battery has been disconnected.
l A door is open.
CAUTION
n While driving the vehicle
Do not adjust the display. Adjust the display only when the vehicle is
stopped.
n When doing the circling calibration
Secure a wide space, and watch out for people and vehicles in the neigh-
borhood. Do not violate any local traffic rules while performing circling cali-
bration.
NOTICE
nTo avoid compass malfunctions
Do not place magnets or any metal objects near the inside rear view mirror.
Doing this may cause the compass sensor to malfunction.
n To ensure normal operation of the compass
lDo not perform circling calibration of the compass in a place where the
earth's magnetic field is subject to inte rference by artificial magnetic fields.
l During calibration, do not operate electric systems (moon roof, power win-
dows, etc.) as they may interfere with the calibration.

nSRS warning light
This warning light system monitors the airbag sensor assembly, front impact
sensors, side impact sensors (front door), side impact sensors (front), side
impact sensors (rear), driver’s seat belt buckle switch, front passenger occu-
pant classification system, “AIR BAG ON” indicator light, “AIR BAG OFF” indi-
cator light, front passenger’s seat belt buckle switch, seat belt pretensioners
(front), airbags, interconnecting wiring and power sources. ( P. 3 5 )
n Front passenger detection sensor, seat belt reminder and warning
buzzer
If luggage is placed on the front passenger seat, the front passenger detec-
tion sensor may cause the warning light to flash and the warning buzzer to
sound even if a passenger is not sitting in the seat.
n If the malfunction indicator la mp comes on while driving
First check the following:
l Is the fuel tank empty?
If it is, fill the fuel tank immediately.
l Is the fuel tank cap loose?
If it is, tighten it securely.
The light will go off after several driving trips.
If the light does not go off even after several trips, contact your Toyota dealer
as soon as possible.
n
When the tire pressure warning light comes on (vehicles with a tire
pressure warning system)
Check the tire inflation pressure and adjust to the appropriate level. Push-
ing the tire pressure warning reset switch will not turn off the tire pressure
warning light.
nThe tire pressure warning light may come on due to natural causes
(vehicles with a tire pressure warning system)
The tire pressure warning light may come on due to natural causes such
as natural air leaks and tire inflation pressure changes caused by temper-
ature. In this case, adjusting the ti re inflation pressure will turn off the
warning light (after a few minutes).
