Light bulbs
You may replace the following bulb s yourself. The difficulty level
of replacement varies depending on the bulb. If necessary bulb
replacement seems difficult to perform, contact your Toyota
dealer.
For more information about repl acing other light bulbs, contact
your Toyota dealer.

Headlight low beams
Turn the bulb base counter-
clockwise.
Pull the bulb out while press-
ing the lock release of the
connector.
When installing, reverse the steps listed.

Front turn signal/parking lights (bulb type)
To ensure enough space to
perform work, turn the steer-
ing wheel to rotate the front
wheel away from the bulb to
be replaced.
Turn the steering wheel to the
left when replacing the right side
light bulb, and turn the steering
wheel to the right when replac-
ing the left side light bulb.
Remove the fender liner
screws.
Remove the fender liner clip.After turning the clip, pull
the clip until it stops.
Turn the clip again, and
then pull out the clip.
Partly remove the fender
liner and turn the bulb base
counterclockwise.

Back-up lights
Open the trunk lid and
remove the clips. ( P. 438)
Then partly remove the trunk
panel cover.
Unplug the connector while
depressing the lock release.
Turn the bulb base counter-
clockwise.
Remove the light bulb.
When installing, reverse the steps listed.

License plate lights
Remove the cover.
To prevent damaging the vehi-
cle, wrap the tip of the flathead
screwdriver with tape.
Remove the lens.
Put the flathead screwdriver
behind the tab of the lens, and
turn it as shown in the illustra-
tion to pry off the lens.
To prevent damaging the vehi-
cle, wrap the tip of the screw-
driver with tape.
Remove the light bulb.
When installing, reverse the steps listed.
nReplacing the following bulbs
If any of the lights listed below has burnt out, have it replaced by
your Toyota dealer.
l Parking lights/daytime running lights (LED type)
l High mounted stoplights

nLED light bulbs
The parking lights/daytime running lights (LED type) and high mounted stop-
lights consist of a number of LEDs. If any of the LEDs burns out, take your
vehicle to your Toyota dealer to have the light replaced.
n Condensation build-up on the inside of the lens
Temporary condensation build-up on the inside of the headlight lens does not
indicate a malfunction.
Contact your Toyota dealer for more information in the following situations:
lLarge drops of water have built up on the inside of the lens.
l Water has built up inside the headlight.
n Removing and installing the luggage trim cover and trunk panel cover
clips
n When replacing light bulbs

Replacing light bulbs
lTurn off the lights. Do not attempt to replace the bulb immediately after
turning off the lights.
The bulbs become very hot and may cause burns.
l Do not touch the glass portion of the light bulb with bare hands. When it is
unavoidable to hold the glass portion, use and hold with a clean dry cloth
to avoid getting moisture and oils on the bulb.
Also, if the bulb is scratched or dropped, it may blow out or crack.
l Fully install light bulbs and any parts used to secure them. Failure to do so
may result in heat damage, fire, or water entering the headlight unit. This
may damage the headlights or cause condensation to build up on the lens.
n To prevent damage or fire
Make sure bulbs are fully seated and locked.

8-1. Essential information
Press the switch.
All the turn signal lights will flash.
To turn them off, press the switch
once again.
nEmergency flashers
If the emergency flashers are used for a long time while the hybrid system is
not operating (while the “READY” indicator is not illuminated), the 12-volt \
bat-
tery may discharge.
Emergency flashers
The emergency flashers are used to warn other drivers when the
vehicle has to be stopped in th e road due to a breakdown, etc.
