■ Changing the idling stop time with the air conditioning system on
The length of time the Stop & Start system will operate when the air condition-
ing system is on can be changed by performing the following operation. (The
length of time the Stop & Start system will operate when the air conditioning
system is off cannot be changed.)
● Changing the setting by multi-information display
Use the meter control switches to select “ Setup” and press .
( P. 128)
● Changing the setting by the Stop & Start cancel switch
Each time the Stop & Start cancel switch is pressed and held for 3 seconds
or more, the system switches between standard and extended. The system
status can be confirmed on the settings display on the multi-information dis-
play. ( P. 128)
■ The Stop & Start system protection function
● When an excessively loud sound is being projected by the audio system,
the audio system may be automatically cut off in order to reduce battery
consumption. If it occurs, turn the engine switch off, wait for 3 seconds or
longer and then turn it to “ACC” or “ON” position to re-enable the audio sys-
tem.
● The audio system may not be activated when the battery terminals are dis-
connected and then reconnected. If it occurs, turn the engine switch off and
then repeat the following operation twice to activate the audio system nor-
mally.
• Turn the engine switch to “ON” position and then to OFF.

■ Multi-information display messages
If the following situations, and a message may be displayed on the
multi-information display.
● When the engine cannot be stopped by the Stop & Start system
MessageDetails
“For climate
control”
• The air conditioning system is being
used when the ambient temperature is
high or low.
If the difference between the set tempera-
ture and cabin temperature is small, the
system will be enabled.
• is turned on.
“Battery charging”
• The battery charge amount may be low.
Engine stop is temporarily prohibited to
prioritize charging of the battery, but if the
engine is operated for a short while,
engine stop is allowed.
• A refresh charge may be occurring,
such as when the battery is undergoing
a periodic recharge, for a while after the
battery terminals have been discon-
nected and reconnected, for a while
after the battery has been replaced, etc.
After a refresh charge of approximately
5 to 60 minutes completes, the system can
be operated.
If the message is displayed continuously
(more than 60 seconds), the battery may
have deteriorated. Contact any authorized
Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer,
or any reliable repairer.

“For climate
control”
• The air conditioning system has been
turned on or is being used.
• has been turned on.
“Battery charging”
The battery charge amount may be low.
The engine is restarted to prioritize battery
charging. Operating the engine for a short
while allows the system to recover.
“For brake system”
The brake pedal has been depressed fur-
ther or pumped.
The system will be enabled after the
engine runs and the brake booster vac-
uum reaches a predetermined level.
“Steering wheel
turned”The steering wheel was operated.
“Driver seat belt

■Driving modes
● “NORMAL” mode
Provides an optimal balance of fuel economy, quietness, and
dynamic performance. Suitable for city driving.
● “SPORT” mode
Controls the transmission and engine to provide quick, powerful
acceleration. This mode also changes the steering feel, making it
suitable for when agile driving response is desired, such as when
driving on roads with many curves.
When sport mode is selected, the “SPORT” indicator will illuminate
on the multi-information display.
● “ECO” mode
Helps the driver accelerate in an eco-friendly manner and
improve fuel economy through moderate throttle characteristics
and by controlling the operation of the air conditioning system
(heating/cooling).
When Eco mode is selected, the “ECO MODE” indicator will illumi-
nate on the multi-information display.
While the air conditioning is being used, the system automatically
switches to air conditioning eco mode ( P. 573), allowing for driving
that leads to even better fuel economy.
■ When canceling “ECO” mode/ “SPORT” mode
● Select the drive mode again. Also, “SPORT” mode will be canceled auto-
matically when the engine switch is turned off.
● However, “NORMAL” mode and “ECO” mode will not be canceled automati-
cally until another drive mode is selected, even if the engine switch is turned
off.

■The Toyota parking assist-sensor can be operated when
Vehicles without a smart entry & start system:
The engine switch is in the “ON” position.
Vehicles with a smart entry & start system:
The engine switch is in IGNITION ON mode.
● Front corner sensors/front center sensors:
• Vehicles with a Multidrive: The shift lever is in a position other than P.
• Vehicle speed is approximately 10 km/h (6 mph) or less
● Front side sensors/rear side sensors:
• Vehicles with a Multidrive: The shift lever is in a position other than P.
• Vehicle speed is approximately 10 km/h (6 mph) or less
• Steering wheel is turned approximately 90° or more
● Rear corner sensors/rear center sensors:
The shift lever is in R.
■ Sensor detection information
● The sensor detection areas are limited to the areas around the vehicle bum-
pers.
● Depending on the shape of the obstacle and other factors, the detection dis-
tance may shorten, or detection may be impossible.
● Obstacles may not be detected if they are too close to the sensor.
● There will be a short delay between obstacle detection and display. Even
when traveling at a low speed, if you come too close to an obstacle before
the display and buzzer activate, the display and buzzer may not activate at
all.
● Thin posts or objects lower than the sensor may not be detected when
approached, even if they have been detected once.
● It might be difficult to hear beeps due to the volume of audio system or air
flow noise of the air conditioning system.

■When talking on the phone
● Do not talk simultaneously with the other party.
● Keep the volume of the received voice down. Otherwise, voice echo will
increase.
■ Automatic volume adjustment
When vehicle speed is 80 km/h (50 mph) or more, the volume automatically
increases. The volume returns to the previous volume setting when vehicle
speed drops to 70 km/h (43 mph) or less.
■ Phone call system functions
Depending on the cellular phone, certain functions may not be available.
■ Situations where the other party may not recognize your voice
● When driving on a rough road
● When driving at high speeds
● When air is blowing out of the vents onto the microphone
● When the air conditioning fan emits a loud noise
