Troubleshooting
Cruise control cannot be set.
Did you remember to press the (CRUISE) switch?
If you have not pressed the (CRUISE) switch, the (Adaptive Cruise
Control) indicator will not be shown.
Is EyeSight operation temporarily stopped?
When EyeSight is temporarily stopped, one of the EyeSight temporary stop indi-
cators (“E1”, “E2” or “E3”) will be displayed on the data display.
Set cruise control again after the reason for the temporary stop has been cor-
rected.
Is the [READY] indicator displayed?
When Adaptive Cruise Control is being used Cruise control cannot be set when
the [READY] indicator is not displayed. Set cruise control when the [READY] indi-
cator is displayed.
The [READY] indicator is not displayed.
Have you selected Conventional Cruise Control?
With Conventional Cruise Control, (following distance setting) will not be dis-
played on the meter display.
Are the requirements for setting cruise control met?
In any of the following cases, the [READY] indicator will not be displayed.
xThe brake pedal is depressed.
xThe vehicle speed is over 90 MPH (145 km/h). (When no vehicle in front
has been detected, the speed is between approximately 25 MPH (40 km/h)
and 90 MPH (145 km/h).)
xThe meter display indicates that the shift position indicator is in any posi-
tion other than . (The select lever or paddle shift switches are manually
operated.)
xThe driver’s seatbelt is unfastened.
xAny door of the driver’s, front passenger’s and rear doors is opened.
xThe parking brake is applied (when the brake warning light is illuminated).

EyeSight does not restart after a temporary stop.
Is Vehicle Dynamics Control turned off?
EyeSight cannot be activated when Vehicle Dynamics Control is off.
Is the X-mode turned on?
EyeSight cannot be activated when the X-mode is turned on.
Are you driving in the rain with old wipers or is there an oily film on the windshield?
Replace the wipers with new ones, or clean the oily film off the windshield.
Is your vehicle subject to sunlight from the front (sunset or sunrise, etc.) or to
bright headlights from oncoming vehicles at nighttime?
In these cases, EyeSight may temporarily stop operating.
The timing of the “brake more” warning is sometimes earlier and sometimes later
than what seems to be normal operation.
The “brake more” warning sounds when the system determines that more braking
is necessary, based on conditions such as the distance from the vehicle in front
and the difference in speed. As a result, timing may vary depending on how the
brake of the vehicle in front is applied.
Acceleration is sometimes slower and sometimes faster when the vehicle in front
is no longer detected.
Depending on the timing of when the detection of the vehicle in front is lost,
EyeSight’s ability to react may be slower, causing the start of acceleration to feel
delayed and braking time to feel longer than what seems to be normal operation.
Which SI-DRIVE mode is selected?
The acceleration varies due to the characteristics change of Adaptive Cruise Con-
trol depending on which mode is selected.
Cruise control is canceled automatically.
Did you perform one of the following operations?
xManually depressing the brake pedal
xPressing the CANCEL switch for cruise control
xOperating the paddle shift lever
xShifting the selector lever to the position
xPressing the Vehicle Dynamics Control OFF switch (VDC OFF indicator
illuminates.)
xPressing the X-mode switch (X mode indicator illuminates.)
