To engage neutral
With the vehicle at a standstill, engine
running, depress the brake pedal and
move the selector 3 to the left:
– hold in place for about a second until a white N is displayed on the instru-
ment panel, then release;
or
– release immediately.
Note: If the current gear is R or D, it
is not necessary to depress the brake
pedal to engage position N.
AUTOMATIC GEARBOX (2/6)
To engage position P
(button 2)
With the vehicle at a standstill, engine
running or ignition on, press button 2 to
engage position P. The warning light for
button 2 lights up orange once the Park
position on the gearbox is engaged.

Check that warning light P
on the instrument panel and
the warning light integrated
on the button 2 are acti-
vated before leaving the vehicle.
Risk of loss of immobilisation of the
vehicle
To disengage position P
(button 2)
With the vehicle at a standstill, engine
running, depress the brake pedal and
move the selector to the desired posi-
tion R, N or D.
If the brake pedal is not fully depressed,
the message “Push brake pedal” the
warning light
 are displayed on the
instrument panel.
When position R or D is disengaged,
N is displayed on the instrument panel
and the warning light on button 2 goes
out.
Note:
– If the driver opens their door to leave the vehicle while position P has not
been engaged, a beep sounds and
the message “P not engaged” is dis-
played on the instrument panel.
– Warning light
 comes on each
time it is necessary to depress the
brake pedal to change the position
of the automatic gearbox.
In the event of the mes-
sage “Check auto gearbox”,
“Automatic gearbox posi-
tion P defective” or “Electric
failure DANGER”, or in the event of
a battery fault, immobilise the ve-
hicle using the electronic parking
brake.

Driving in automatic mode
With the vehicle at a standstill, engine
running, position P, N or R, depress the
brake pedal and move the selector to
the left then back, and release.
If one of the conditions is not applied,
D flashes for around 5 seconds and
the message “Push brake pedal” is dis-
played on the instrument panel for ap-
proximately 15 seconds.
In most road conditions you will en-
counter, you will not need to touch your
lever again: the gears will change au-
tomatically at the right time and at the
most suitable engine speed because
the automatic system takes into ac-
count the vehicle load and road contour
and adjusts itself to the particular driv-
ing style you have chosen.
Note: With the engine running and
the vehicle travelling between 0 and
6 mph (0 and 10 km/h), position N or
R , it is not necessary to depress the
brake pedal to engage position D. This
is useful during parking manoeuvres
requiring a number of alternate forward
and reverse movements. Economical driving
When driving, always leave the lever
in position
D, keeping the accelerator
pedal lightly depressed to ensure auto-
matic gear changes at a lower engine
speed.
Accelerating and overtaking
Depress the accelerator pedal briskly
and fully (so that it goes beyond the
point of resistance).
It is also possible to change down at
any time for overtaking purposes, by
pushing the selector to position “ -”.
To select reverse gear
With the vehicle at a standstill, engine
running, position P, N or D, depress the
brake pedal and move the selector to
the left then forwards, and release.
If the brake pedal is not depressed, a
beep will sound, the display of position
R flashes for around 5 seconds in the
grid shown on the instrument panel,
and a message “Push brake pedal” is
displayed for around 15 seconds.
Note: With the engine running, and
the vehicle travelling between 0 and
6 mph (0 and 10 km/h), position N or
D , it is not necessary to depress the
brake pedal to engage R. This is useful
during parking manoeuvres requiring
a number of alternate forward and re-
verse movements.

AUTOMATIC GEARBOX (5/6)
Special cases
As position P is automatically en-
gaged when the engine is stopped, it is
sometimes necessary to place the vehi-
cle in position N for some car washes,
for example.
Position N can be engaged before
opening the driver’s door, and a maxi-
mum of around 25 seconds after the
engine is stopped.
After this time or after opening the
driver’s door, it will be necessary to turn
on the ignition again to disengage posi-
tion P.
In the event of a loss of in-
formation on the instrument
panel, stop and immobilise
the vehicle using the elec-
tronic parking brake or button P.
Special cases
In certain driving cases (eg: protect-
ing the engine), a gear change can be
performed automatically in the event of
over-revving or approaching under-rev-
ving. Permanent manual mode remains
activated. Similarly, to avoid making the
"wrong move", a gear change may be
refused by the gearbox. In this case,
the display for the requested gear + or –
flashes for a few seconds to warn you.
Parking the vehicleUpon stopping the engine by press-
ing the engine stop button, position P
is automatically engaged, along with
the electronic parking brake for vehi-
cles equipped with this device. P is dis-
played on the instrument panel and the
warning light on button P comes on.
Never leave the vehicle with
the engine running without
previously engaging the
Park position P.
With the engine running, the automatic
gearbox in D or R or N or M and with-
out your foot on the brake, messages
“P not engaged” and “Select P” are dis-
played on the instrument panel as soon
as the driver’s door is open.
With the engine stopped, the automatic
gearbox in N (neutral), the message “P
not engaged” is displayed on the instru-
ment panel.
Special feature related to the Stop and Start function: if you are going\
to unfasten the driver's seat belt before the
engine goes into standby due to the Stop and Start function, make sure t\
he gearbox is in position P. The P warning
light will light up on the instrument panel to confirm this. Risk of loss of immobilisation.

TRANSPORTING OBJECTS towbar

A: 1066 mm.
If the towbar ball obscures the regis-
tration plate or the rear fog lights, it
should be removed when not in use.
In all cases, comply with local leg-
islation.
Vehicle fitted with an au-
tomatic tailgate with the
«hands-free» function
Disable the «hands-free»
function before washing the vehi-
cle manually or handling the emer-
gency spare wheel or the towbar.
Risk of accidental opening or clo-
sing of the tailgate which may
cause injury.

LEVELS (2/3)
Brake fluid level
This should be checked frequently, and
any time you notice even the slightest
loss in braking efficiency.
The level should be read with the engine
switched off and on level ground.Level 2
It is normal for the level to drop as
the linings become worn, but it should
never drop below the “MINI” warning
line.
If you wish to check the disc and drum
wear yourself, you should obtain the
document explaining the checking pro-
cedure from our network or from the
manufacturer’s website. Topping up
After any operation on the hydraulic cir-
cuit, a specialist must replace the fluid.
Only use fluids approved by our
Technical Department (and taken from
a sealed container).
Replacement intervals
Refer to the Maintenance Document for
your vehicle.
The engine may be hot
when carrying out opera-
tions in close proximity. In
addition, the engine cooling
fan can come on at any moment.
Risk of injury.

Before performing any
action in the engine com-
partment, the ignition must
be switched off by pressing
the engine stop button (please see
the information on “Starting, stop-
ping the engine” in Section 2).

TYRE PRESSURE KIT (2/3)
In the event of a puncture, use the kit si-
tuated under the second row rear pas-
senger footwell flap 1.
Before using the kit, park
the vehicle at a sufficient
distance from traffic, switch
on the hazard warning
lights, apply the parking brake, ask
all passengers to leave the vehicle
and keep them away from traffic.

– end piece 3 must be connected to a
vehicle accessories socket;
– press switch 5 to inflate the tyre to
the recommended pressure (please
refer to the information on “Tyre in-
flation pressure” in Section 4);
– after a maximum of 15 minutes, stop inflating and read the pressure (on
pressure gauge 6).
Note: while the bottle is emptying
(approximately 30 seconds), the
pressure gauge 6 will indicate briefly
a pressure of 6 bar, then the pres-
sure drops.
– adjust the pressure: to increase it, continue inflation with the kit; to
reduce it, press button 7.
If the vehicle is parked on
the hard shoulder, you must
warn other road users of
your vehicle’s presence
with a warning triangle or with other
devices as per the legislation ap-
plying to the country you are in.

With the engine running and the par-
king brake applied,
– unroll the hose from the container;
– connect the compressor hose 4 to
the container’s inlet 9;
– depending on the vehicle, connect the container 9 to the compressor
from the container recess 8;
– unscrew the valve cap on the rele- vant wheel and screw on the contai-
ner’s inflation adapter 2;
– disconnect any accessories pre- viously connected to the vehicle’s
accessories sockets;

Vehicles equipped with a jack
and wheelbrace
If necessary, remove the wheel trim.
Use the wheelbrace 2 to slacken off the
wheel bolts. Position it so as to be able
to push from above.
Open the door nearest the wheel
concerned to identify the arrow 1 indi-
cating the jacking point 3.
Switch on the hazard war-
ning lights.
Keep the vehicle away from
traffic and on a level surface
where it will not slip.
Apply the parking brake and engage
a gear (first or reverse, or P for auto-
matic transmissions).
Ask all the passengers to leave the
vehicle and keep them away from
traffic.
If the vehicle is parked on
the hard shoulder, you must
warn other road users of
your vehicle’s presence
with a warning triangle or with other
devices as per the legislation ap-
plying to the country you are in.

If the vehicle is not equipped with a
jack or wheelbrace, you can obtain
these from your approved dealer.
Position the jack 4 horizontally. It is es-
sential to position the jack head in the
jacking point 3.
Close the door.
Start cranking the jack up by hand to
align the base plate (which should be
pushed slightly under the vehicle).
