NOTElDo not leave the cigarette lighter removed
from its socket, because the socket might be- come clogged by foreign material and be
short-circuited.CAUTIONl Do not touch the heating element or the cig-
arette lighter housing, hold the knob only to prevent burns.
l Do not allow children to operate or play with
the cigarette lighter as burns may occur.
l Something is wrong with the cigarette light-
er if it does not pop back out within approxi-
mately 30 seconds of being pushed in. We recommend you to have it checked.
l Do not use any electric appliance that is not
approved by MITSUBISHI MOTORS . Do-
ing so could damage the socket. If you used
the cigarette lighter after damaging the sock- et, the cigarette lighter might pop out or fail
to come out after being pushed in.
l When the cigarette lighter socket is used as a
power source for an electric appliance, be sure that the electric appliance operates at
12 V and has an electric capacity of 120 W or less. In addition, long use of the electricappliance without running the engine may
run down the battery.Accessory socket
E00711600987
The accessory socket can be used while the ignition switch is in the “ON” or “ACC” po-
sition.CAUTIONl Be aware that using electronic equipment
with the engine off may run the battery down.
l When you connect an electrical device,
make sure it is rated at 12 V and its electrical
capacity does not exceed 120 W. When us-
ing some sockets at the same time, make
sure the total power consumption of the
electrical accessories does not exceed 120 W
at 12 V.
l When the accessory socket is not in use, be
sure to close the cap or plug, because the
socket might become clogged by foreign
material and be short-circuited.NOTEl The two or more accessory sockets can be
used simultaneously.Type 1
Pull out the plug (A) in the instrument panel
to uncover the socket. Use it to plug in an
electrical device.

Check to make certain that the power steering
fluid level is always between the “MAX” and
“MIN” level markings on the fluid reservoir and top up the fluid, if necessary.
Fluid type
Use “ MITSUBISHI MOTORS GENUINE
PSF (Power Steering Fluid)”.

The condition of the battery is very important
for quick starting of the engine and proper functioning of the vehicle’s electrical system.
Regular inspection and care are especially
important in cold weather.
NOTEl On vehicles equipped with 2 batteries, when
the batteries are replaced, the 2 batteries
should be replaced at the same time.
If only a battery is replaced, it will cause shortening of the batteries life.
Checking battery electrolyte
level
The electrolyte level must be between the specified limit on the outside of the battery.
Replenish with distilled water as necessary.
The inside of the battery is divided into sev- eral compartments; remove the cap from each
compartment and fill to the upper mark. Do not top up beyond the upper mark because
spillage during driving could cause damage.
Check the electrolyte level at least once every
4 weeks, depending on the operating condi- tions.
If the battery is not used, it will discharge by
itself with time.
Check it once every 4 weeks and charge with
low current as necessary.
During cold weather
The capacity of the battery is reduced at low
temperatures. This is an inevitable result of its chemical and physical properties.
This is why a very cold battery, particularly one that is not fully charged, will only deliver
a fraction of the starter current which is nor-
mally available.
We recommend you to have the battery checked before the start of cold weather and,if necessary, have it charged or replaced.
This does not only ensure reliable starting,
but a battery which is kept fully charged also has a longer life.
Disconnection and connection
To disconnect the battery cable, stop the en- gine, first disconnect the negative (–) termi-
nal and then the positive (+) terminal.
When connecting the battery, first connect the positive (+) terminal and then the nega-
tive (-) terminal.
