When using a child restraint system
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.●
Never install a rear-facing ch ild restraint system on the front passenger seat even if
the “AIR BAG OFF” indicator lig ht is illuminated. In the event of an accident, the force
of the rapid inflation of the front passenger airbag can cause death or serious injury to
the child if the rear-facing child restraint system is installed on the front passenger
seat. ●
A forward-facing child restraint system ma y be installed on the front passenger seat
only when it is unavoidable. A child restra int system that requires a top tether strap
should not be used in the front passenger seat since there is no top tether strap
anchor for the front passenger seat. ●
A forward-facing child restraint system may
be installed on the front passenger seat only
when it is unavoidable. When installing a for-
ward-facing child restraint system on the front
passenger seat, raise the seatback as much as
possible, move the seat to the rearmost posi-
tion, and raise the seat to the highest position,
even if the “AIR BAG OFF” indicator light is
illuminated.
If the head restraint interferes with the instal-
lation of the child restraint system, and the
head restraint can be removed, remove the
head restraint.
If the head restraint cannot be removed, raise
it to the uppermost position. ●
Do not allow the child to lean his/her head or
any part of his/her body against the door or
the area of the seat, front or rear pillars, or
roof side rails from which the SRS side air-
bags or SRS curtain shield airbags deploy
even if the child is seated in the child restraint
system. It is dangerous if the SRS side airbags
and curtain shield airbags inflate, and the
impact could cause death or serious injury to
the child.

When trouble arises
RX350_U_OM48E90U Follow the procedure below to restart the engine after the system is activated.
Turn the engine switch to AC CESSORY mode or turn it off.
Restart the engine.
Fuel pump shut off system To minimize the risk of fuel leakage wh en the engine stalls or when an airbag
inflates upon collision, the fuel pump shut off system stops the supply of fuel to
the engine.

Before starting the engine
Inspect the ground under the vehicle.
If you find that fuel has leaked onto the ground, the fuel system has been damaged and
is in need of repair. Do not restart the engine. 1

sounds Calmly perform the following actions if any of the warning lights comes on or
flashes. If a light comes on or flashes, bu t then goes off, this does not necessar-
ily indicate a malfunction in the system. However, if this continues to occur,
have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.

Brake system warning light
Indicates that:
• The brake fluid level is low; or
• The brake system is malfunctioning
Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact your
Lexus dealer. Continuing to drive the vehicle may be dangerous.
Brake system warning light
Indicates a malfunction in the electric parking brake
Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately. (If equipped)
Charging system warning light
Indicates a malfunction in the vehicle’s charging system
Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact your
Lexus dealer. Continuing to drive the vehicle may be dangerous. (U.S.A.)

Malfunction indicator lamp
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The electronic engine control system;
• The electronic throttle control system; or
• The electronic automatic transmission control system
Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.
SRS warning light
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The SRS airbag system;
• The front passenger occupant classification system; or
• The seat belt pretensioner system
Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately. (U.S.A.)

• The ABS; or
• The brake assist system
Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.

RX350_U_OM48E90U * : Driver's and front passenger' s seat belt warning buzzer:
The driver’s seat belt warning buzzer sounds to alert the driver that his or her seat belt
is not fastened. Once the engine switch is turned to IGNITION ON mode, the
buzzer sounds for 6 seconds. If the vehicl e reaches a speed of 12 mph (20 km/h), the
buzzer sounds once. If the seat belt is still unfastened afte r 24 seconds, the buzzer will
sound intermittently for 10 seconds. Then, if the seat belt is still unfastened, the buzzer
will sound in a different tone for 20 more seconds.
The front passenger’s seat belt warning buzzer sounds to alert the front passenger
that his or her seat belt is not fastened. The buzzer sounds once if the vehicle reaches
a speed of 12 mph (20 km/h). If the seat belt is still unfastened after 24 seconds, the
buzzer will sound intermittently for 10 seconds. Then, if the seat belt is still unfastened,
the buzzer will sound in a different tone for 20 more seconds. ■
SRS warning light
This warning light system monitors the airbag sensor assembly, front impact sensors, side
impact sensors (front door), side impact se nsors (rear), driver’s seat position sensor,
driver’s seat belt buckle swit ch, front passenger occupant classification system (ECU and
sensors), “AIR BAG ON” indicator light, “A IR BAG OFF” indicator light, front passen-
ger’s seat belt buckle switch, driver’s seat belt pretensioner, front passenger’s seat belt
pretensioner and force limiter, airbags, in terconnecting wiring and power sources.

Front passenger detection sensor, seat belt reminder and warning buzzer●
If luggage is placed on the front passenger seat, the front passenger detection sensor
may cause the warning light to flash and the warning buzzer to sound even if a passen-
ger is not sittin g in the seat.●
If a cushion is placed on th e seat, the sensor may not detect a passenger, and the warn-
ing light may not operate properly. ■
Electric power steering system warning light (warning buzzer)
When the battery charge becomes insufficie nt of the voltage te mporarily drops, the
electric power steering system warning light may come on and the warning buzzer may
sound. ■
If the malfunction indicator lamp comes on while driving
First check the following: ●
Is the fuel tank empty?
If it is, fill the fuel tank immediately. ●
Is the fuel tank cap loose?
If it is, tighten it securely.
The light will go off after several driving trips.
If the light does not go off even after severa l trips, contact your Lexus dealer as soon as
possible.
