■Speed indicator (F SPORT models)
Select to set the speed indicator on/
off.
When set to on, both sides of the dis-
played speed unit will turn yellow
when the vehicle reaches a set
speed.
Selectable speed range:
30 mph to 100 mph (50 km/h to
160 km/h)

The indicator will illuminate in yellow at an optionally set speed and red at the fixed
high speed.
*: Always observe the legal speed limit when driving on public roads.
■Rev indicator (F SPORT models)
Select to set the rev indicator on/off.
When set to on, the tachometer will
show a ring-shaped indicator in red
when the engine reaches a set speed.
Selectable engine speed range:
IS350/IS300: 2000 rpm to 6600

IS200t: 2000 rpm to 6100 rpm
■Rev peak (F SPORT models)
Select to set the rev peak on/off.
When set to on and the engine speed
reaches or exceeds 5000 rpm, an
afterimage of the tachometer will be
displayed at the highest engine
speed for approximately 0.5 sec-
onds.

■When starting off on an uphill
The hill-start assist control will activate. (P. 2 4 9 )
■Driving in the rain
●Drive carefully when it is raining, because visibility will be reduced, the windows may
become fogged-up, and th e road will be slippery.
●Drive carefully when it starts to rain, becau se the road surface will be especially slip-
pery.
●Refrain from high speeds when driving on an expressway in the rain, because there may
be a layer of water between the tires and the road surface, preventing the steering and
brakes from operating properly.
■Engine speed while driving
In the following conditions, the engine speed may become high while driving. This is due
to automatic up-shifting control or down-shi fting implementation to meet driving condi-
tions. It does not indica te sudden acceleration.
●The vehicle is judged to be driving uphill or downhill
●When the accelerator pedal is released
●When the brake pedal is depressed while sport mode is selected
■Restraining the engine output (Brake Override System)
●When the accelerator and brake pedals are depressed at the same time, the engine
output may be restrained.
●A warning message is displayed on the multi-information display while the system is
operating. If a warning message is shown on the multi-information display, read the
message and follow the instructions.
■Breaking in your new Lexus
To extend the life of the ve hicle, observing the followin g precautions is recommended:
●For the first 186 miles (300 km):
Avoid sudden stops.
●For the first 621 miles (1000 km):
• Do not drive at extremely high speeds.
• Avoid sudden acceleration.
• Do not drive continuously in low gears.
• Do not drive at a constant speed for extended periods.
■Drum-in-disc type parking brake system
Your vehicle has a drum-in-disc type parking brake system. This type of brake system
needs bedding-down of the brake shoes periodically or whenever the parking brake
shoes and/or drum are replaced. Have your Lexus dealer perform the bedding down
operation.
■Operating your vehicle in a foreign country
Comply with the relevant vehi cle registration laws and confirm the availability of the cor-
rect fuel. ( P. 5 3 7 )

■AI-SHIFT
●The AI-SHIFT automatically selects the suitab le gear according to driver performance
and driving conditions.
The AI-SHIFT automatically operates when the sh ift lever is in D. (Shifting the shift lever
to the M position cancels the function.)
●8-speed models: The G AI-SHIFT is automa tically changed to a suitable gear step
while running in sport mode according to the driving operations and running condi-
tions.
The G AI-SHIFT automatically operates when the drive mode select switch is set to
sport mode with the shift lever in the D posi tion. (The function will be canceled, if the
drive mode is select switch is set to normal mode or shift lever is put in the M position.)
CAUTION
■When driving on slippery road surfaces
Be careful of downshifting and sudden accele ration, as this could result in the vehicle
skidding to the side or spinning.

Vehicles without Adaptive Variable Suspension System Normal mode
For normal driving.
Press the switch to change the driving mode to normal mode when selected to Eco
drive mode or sport mode.
Eco drive mode
Use Eco drive mode to help achieve low fuel consumption during trips that
involve frequent accelerating.
When not in Eco drive mode and the drivin g mode select switch is turned to the
left, the Eco drive mode indicator comes on.
Sport mode
Assists acceleration response by controlling the transmission and steering.
Suitable for when precise handling is desirable, for example when driving
on mountain roads.
When not in sport mode and the driving mode select switch is turned to the right,
the “SPORT” indicator comes on.

■Operation of the air conditioning system in Eco drive mode
Eco drive mode controls the heating/cooling operations and fan speed of the air condi-
tioning system to enhance fuel efficiency ( P. 368). To improve air conditioning perfor-
mance, adjust the fan speed or turn off Eco drive mode.
■Sport mode automatic deactivation
Sport mode is automatically deactivated if the engine switch is turned off after driving in
sport mode.

■While towing
If the engine is not running, the power assist for the brakes and steering will not function,
making steering and braking more difficult.
■Wheel nut wrench
