WARNING!
• Side Air Bags need room to inflate. Do not lean against the door or window. Situpright in the center of the seat.
• Being too close to the Side Air Bags during deployment could cause you to be
severely injured or killed.
• Relying on the Side Air Bags alone could lead to more severe injuries in a
collision. The Side Air Bags work with your seat belt to restrain you properly. In
some collisions, Side Air Bags won’t deploy at all. Always wear your seat belt
even though you have Side Air Bags.
• This vehicle is equipped with left and right Supplemental Side Air Bag
Inflatable Curtains (SABICs). Do not stack luggage or other cargo up high
enough to block the deployment of the SABICs. The trim covering above the
side windows where the SABIC and its deployment path are located should
remain free from any obstructions.
• This vehicle is equipped with SABICs. In order for the SABICs to work as
intended, do not install any accessory items in your vehicle which could alter
the roof. Do not add an aftermarket sunroof to your vehicle. Do not add roof
racks that require permanent attachments (bolts or screws) for installation on
the vehicle roof. Do not drill into the roof of the vehicle for any reason.
• Do not use accessory seat covers or place objects between you and the Side Air
Bags; the performance could be adversely affected and/or objects could be
pushed into you, causing serious injury.
Enhanced Accident Response System
In the event of an impact, if the communication network remains intact, and the
power remains intact, depending on the nature of the event, the ORC will determine
whether to have the Enhanced Accident Response System perform the following
functions:
• Cut off fuel to the engine.
• Flash hazard lights as long as the battery has power or until the hazard light button
is pushed. The hazard lights can be deactivated by pushing the hazard light
button.
• Turn on the interior lights, which remain on as long as the battery has power.
• Unlock the power door locks.
Enhanced Accident Response System Reset Procedure
In order to reset the Enhanced Accident Response System functions after an event,
the ignition switch must be changed from ignition START or ON/RUN to ignition OFF.
Carefully check the vehicle for fuel leaks in the engine compartment and on the
ground near the engine compartment and fuel tank before resetting the system and
starting the engine.

POWER SUNROOF
The power sunroof switch is located on the overhead console.
WARNING!
• Never leave children alone in a vehicle, or with access to an unlocked vehicle.Never leave the Key Fob in or near the vehicle, or in a location accessible to
children. Occupants, particularly unattended children, can become entrapped
by the power sunroof while operating the power sunroof switch. Such entrap-
ment may result in serious injury or death.
• In a collision, there is a greater risk of being thrown from a vehicle with an open
sunroof. You could also be seriously injured or killed. Always fasten your seat
belt properly and make sure all passengers are properly secured.
• Do not allow small children to operate the sunroof. Never allow your fingers,
other body parts, or any object to project through the sunroof opening. Injury
may result.
Opening Sunroof — Express
Push the switch rearward and release it within one-half second. The sunroof and
sunshade will open automatically from any position. The sunroof and sunshade will
open fully and stop automatically. This is called “Express Open.” During Express
Open operation, any other actuation of the sunroof switch will stop the sunroof.
Opening Sunroof — Manual Mode
To open the sunroof, push and hold the switch rearward to full open. Any release of
the switch will stop the movement. The sunroof and sunshade will remain in a
partially opened condition until the sunroof switch is pushed again.
Closing Sunroof — Express
Push the switch forward and release it within one-half second and the sunroof will
close automatically from any position. The sunroof will close fully and stop automati-
cally. This is called “Express Close.” During Express Close operation, any other
actuation of the switch will stop the sunroof.
Closing Sunroof — Manual Mode
To close the sunroof, push and hold the switch in the forward position. Any release of
the switch will stop the movement and the sunroof will remain in a partially closed
condition until the sunroof switch is pushed again.

Pinch Protect Feature
This feature will detect an obstruction in the opening of the sunroof during Express
Close operation. If an obstruction in the path of the sunroof is detected, the sunroof
will automatically retract. Remove the obstruction if this occurs. Next, push the
switch forward and release to Express Close.
Venting Sunroof — Express
Push and release the Vent button within one half second and the sunroof will open to
the vent position. This is called “Express Vent”, and it will occur regardless of sunroof
position. During Express Vent operation, any other actuation of the switch will stop
the sunroof.
Sunshade Operation
The sunshade can be opened manually. However, the sunshade will open automati-
cally as the sunroof opens.
NOTE:
The sunshade cannot be closed if the sunroof is open.
Wind Buffeting
Wind buffeting can be described as the perception of pressure on the ears or a
helicopter-type sound in the ears. Your vehicle may exhibit wind buffeting with the
windows down, or the sunroof (if equipped) in certain open or partially open
positions. This is a normal occurrence and can be minimized. If the buffeting occurs
with the rear windows open, open the front and rear windows together to minimize the
buffeting. If the buffeting occurs with the sunroof open, adjust the sunroof opening
to minimize the buffeting or open any window.
Sunroof Maintenance
Use only a non-abrasive cleaner and a soft cloth to clean the glass panel.
Ignition Off Operation
For Vehicles Not Equipped With The Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC)
The power sunroof switch will remain active for 45 seconds after the ignition switch
is turned to the LOCK position. Opening either front door will cancel this feature.
For Vehicles Equipped With The EVIC
The power sunroof switch will remain active for up to approximately ten minutes after
the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position. Opening either front door will
cancel this feature.

Integrated Power Module (IPM)
The Integrated Power Module is located in the engine compartment near the air
cleaner assembly. This center contains cartridge fuses and mini-fuses. A label that
identifies each component may be printed on the inside of the cover. Refer to
“Engine Compartment” in “Maintaining Your Vehicle” for further information.

CAUTION!
• When installing the IPM cover, it is important to ensure the cover is properly
positioned and fully latched. Failure to do so may allow water to get into the
IPM, and possibly result in an electrical system failure.
• When replacing a blown fuse, it is important to use only a fuse having the
correct amperage rating. The use of a fuse with a rating other than indicated
may result in a dangerous electrical system overload. If a properly rated fuse
continues to blow, it indicates a problem in the circuit that must be corrected.
