Warning with Mitigation event stops the vehicle com-
pletely, the system will hold the vehicle at a standstill for
two seconds and then release the brakes.
When the system determines a collision with the vehicle
in front of you is no longer probable, the warning
message will be deactivated.NOTE:
•
The minimum speed for FCW activation is 1 mph
(2 km/h).
• The FCW alerts may be triggered on objects other than
vehicles such as guard rails or sign posts based on the
course prediction. This is expected and is a part of
normal FCW activation and functionality.
• It is unsafe to test the FCW system. To prevent such
misuse of the system, after four Active Braking events
within an ignition cycle, the Active Braking portion of
FCW will be deactivated until the next ignition cycle.
• The FCW system is intended for on-road use only. If
the vehicle is taken off-road, the FCW system should
be deactivated to prevent unnecessary warnings to the
surroundings. If the vehicle enters 4WD Low Range,
the FCW system will be automatically deactivated.

If the light stays on or comes on during driving, it means that the 4WD system is not function-
ing properly and that service is required. We recommend you drive to the nearest service center
and have the vehicle serviced immediately.
4WD Low Indicator Light — If Equipped

4WD Low Indicator Light
This light alerts the driver that the vehicle is in the four-wheel drive LOW mode. The front
and rear driveshafts are mechanically locked together forcing the front and rear wheels to
rotate at the same speed. Low range provides a greater gear reduction ratio to provide
increased torque at the wheels.

Hill Decent Control (HDC) Indicator Light — If Equipped

Hill Decent Control (HDC) Indicator Light
This indicator shows when the Hill Descent Control (HDC) feature is turned on. The lamp
will be on solid when HDC is armed. HDC can only be armed when the transfer case is in
the “4WD LOW” position and the vehicle speed is less then 30 mph (48 km/h). If these
conditions are not met while attempting to use the HDC feature, the HDC indicator light
will flash on/off.
Selec Speed Control Indicator Light — If Equipped

This light will turn on when “Selec Speed Control” is activated.
To activate “Selec Speed Control”, assure the vehicle is Four Wheel Drive Low (4WD) and
push the button on the Instrument Panel.

Each time the set speed is exceeded, an audible chime will sound for up to 10 seconds or
until the speed is no longer exceeded, the telltale will change from white to yellow (on color
displays), the telltale will flash in sync with the chime, and a pop up message of
Speed
Warning Exceeded occurs in the DID screen.
NOTE: The vehicle user can select the desired speed at which to be notified.
NOTE: The number “120” is only an example of a speed that can be set.

The DID displays are located in the center portion of the
cluster and consist of multiple sections:
• Main Screen — The inner ring of the display will
illuminate in grey under normal conditions, yellow for
non critical warnings, red for critical warnings, and
white for on demand information.
• Sub-menu Dots— Whenever there are submenus
available, the position within the submenus is shown
here.
• Reconfigurable Telltales/Information •
Gear Selector Status (PRNDL)
• Selectable Information (Compass, Temp, Range to
Empty, Trip A, Trip B, Average Fuel Economy, Current
Fuel Economy)
• Air Suspension Status — If Equipped
• 4WD Status — If Equipped
The main display area will normally display the main
menu or the screens of a selected feature of the main
menu. The main display area also displays “pop up”
messages that consist of approximately 60 possible warn-
ing or information messages. These pop up messages fall
into several categories:
• Five Second Stored Messages
When the appropriate conditions occur, this type of
message takes control of the main display area for five
seconds and then returns to the previous screen. Most of
the messages of this type are then stored (as long as the

•Steering angle beyond threshold.
• ACC is on and speed is set.
It may be possible for the vehicle to be driven several
times without the STOP/START system going into a
STOP/START READY state under more extreme condi-
tions of the items listed above.
To Start The Engine While In Autostop Mode
While in a forward gear, the engine will start when the
brake pedal is released or the throttle pedal is depressed.
The transmission will automatically re-engage upon en-
gine restart. Conditions That Will Cause The Engine To Start Auto-
matically While In Autostop Mode:
•
The transmission selector is moved out of DRIVE.
• To maintain cabin temperature comfort.
• HVAC is set to full defrost mode.
• HVAC system temperature or fan speed is manually
adjusted.
• Battery voltage drops too low.
• Low brake vacuum (e.g. after several brake pedal
applications).
• STOP/START OFF switch is pressed.
• A STOP/START system error occurs.
• 4WD system is put into 4LO mode.

FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE OPERATION
Quadra-Trac I Operating Instructions/Precautions
— If Equipped
The Quadra-Trac I is a single-speed (HI range only)
transfer case, which provides convenient full-time four-
wheel drive. No driver interaction is required. The Brake
Traction Control (BTC) System, which combines standard
ABS and Traction Control, provides resistance to any
wheel that is slipping to allow additional torque transfer
to wheels with traction.
NOTE:The Quadra-Trac I system is not appropriate for
conditions where 4WD LOW range is recommended.
Refer to “Off-Road Driving Tips” in “Starting And Op-
erating” for further information.
Quadra-Trac II Operating Instructions/Precautions
— If Equipped
The Quadra-Trac II transfer case is fully automatic in the
normal driving 4WD AUTO mode. The Quadra-Trac II
transfer case provides three mode positions:
• 4WD HI
• NEUTRAL
• 4WD LOW
This transfer case is fully automatic in the 4WD HI mode.
When additional traction is required, the 4WD LOW
position can be used to lock the front and rear driveshafts
together and force the front and rear wheels to rotate at
the same speed. The 4WD LOW position is intended for
loose, slippery road surfaces only. Driving in the 4WD
LOW position on dry, hard-surfaced roads may cause
increased tire wear and damage to driveline components.
