2016 INFINITI QX60 headlights

SYSTEM OPERATION
The PFEB system operates when vehicle speed
is within the range of approximately 5 to 50 mph
(10 to 80 km/h).
(The system will not activate for a stationary ve-
hicle or a pedestrian when the vehicle is driven at
speeds faster than approximately 37 mph
(60 km/h).)
If a risk of a forward collision is detected, the
PFEB system will provide the first warning to the
driver by flashing the warning light, providing an
audible warning and applying partial braking.
If the driver’s collision avoidance operation is not
sufficient and the risk of collision is increased, the
system issues the second visual warning and
audible warning, and applies harder braking im-
mediately before the collision.
NOTE:
The vehicle’s stop lights come on when
braking is performed by the PFEB system.
Depending on vehicle speed and distance to the
vehicle ahead or pedestrian, as well as driving
and roadway conditions, the system may help the
driver avoid a forward collision or may help miti-
gate the consequences if a collision should one
be unavoidable.If the driver is handling the steering wheel, accel-
erating or braking, the PFEB system will function
later or will not function.
The automatic braking will cease under the fol-
lowing conditions:
● When the steering wheel is turned as far as
necessary to avoid a collision.
● When the accelerator pedal is depressed.
● When there is no longer a vehicle or a pe-
destrian detected ahead.
If the PFEB system has stopped the vehicle, the
vehicle will remain at a standstill for approximately
2 seconds before the brakes are released.
PFEB SYSTEM LIMITATIONS
WARNING
● The multi-sensing front camera unit
does not detect the following objects:
– Children and other people who are of short stature, animals, and
bicycles
– Pedestrians walking at night or in dark areas such as tunnels
– Oncoming vehicles – Crossing vehicles
– Vehicles parked diagonally
● The multi-sensing front camera unit
may not detect a vehicle or pedestrian
ahead in the following conditions:
– Visibility is poor because of bad weather conditions such as rain,
snow, fog, dust storms, sandstorms,
and snowstorms.
– Snow, sand or road spray from trav- eling vehicles.
– The windshield glass in front of the camera is covered with dirt, water
drops, ice, snow, etc.
– The windshield glass in front of the camera is fogged up.
– Strong light (for example, sunlight or high beams from oncoming vehicles)
enters from the front.
– The headlights did not illuminate during the nighttime or in a tunnel, or
the headlight lenses are extremely
dirty.
– Both tail lights of the vehicle ahead do not illuminate at night or inside a
tunnel.

When driving in areas using road salt or other
corrosive materials, check lubrication frequently.
Lights*Clean the headlights on a regular basis.
Make sure that the headlights, stop lights, tail
lights, turn signal lights, and other lights are all
operating properly and installed securely. Also
check headlight aim.
Road wheel nuts (lug nuts)* When checking
the tires, make sure no wheel nuts are missing,
and check for any loose wheel nuts. Tighten if
necessary.
Tire rotation* Tires should be rotated every
5,000 miles (8,000 km).
Tires* Check the pressure with a gauge often
and always prior to long distance trips. If neces-
sary, adjust the pressure in all tires, including the
spare, to the pressure specified. Check carefully
for damage, cuts or excessive wear.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
transmitter components Replace the TPMS
transmitter grommet seal, valve core and cap
when the tires are replaced due to wear or age.
Wheel alignment and balance If the vehicle
should pull to either side while driving on a
straight and level road, or if you detect uneven or
abnormal tire wear, there may be a need for wheel alignment. If the steering wheel or seat vibrates at
normal highway speeds, wheel balancing may be
needed.

(US) or “Tire Safety Information” (Canada) in
the Warranty Information Booklet.
Windshield Clean the windshield on a regular
basis. Check the windshield at least every six
months for cracks or other damage. Have a dam-
aged windshield repaired by a qualified repair
facility.
Windshield wiper blades* Check for cracks or
wear if they do not wipe properly.
Inside the vehicle
The maintenance items listed here should be
checked on a regular basis, such as when per-
forming periodic maintenance, cleaning the ve-
hicle, etc.
Additional information on the following
items with an “*” is found in this section.
Accelerator pedal Check the pedal for smooth
operation and make sure the pedal does not bind
or require uneven effort. Keep the floor mat away
from the pedal. Brake pedal
Check the pedal for smooth opera-
tion. If the brake pedal suddenly goes down fur-
ther than normal, the pedal feels spongy or the
vehicle seems to take longer to stop, have your
vehicle checked immediately. It is recommended
that you visit an INFINITI retailer for this service.
Keep the floor mat away from the pedal.
Brakes Check that the brakes do not pull the
vehicle to one side when applied.
Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)
P (Park) position mechanism On a fairly
steep hill check that your vehicle is held securely
with the shift lever in the P (Park) position without
applying any brakes.
Parking brake Check the parking brake opera-
tion regularly. The vehicle should be securely held
on a fairly steep hill with only the parking brake
applied. If the parking brake needs adjustment, it
is recommended that you visit an INFINITI retailer
for this service
Seats Check seat position controls such as seat
adjusters, seatback recliner, etc. to ensure they
operate smoothly and all latches lock securely in
every position. Check that the head restraints and
headrests move up and down smoothly and the
locks (if so equipped) hold securely in all latched
positions.

HEADLIGHTS
Replacing the xenon headlight bulb
If replacement is required, it is recommended that
you visit an INFINITI retailer for this service.
WARNING
cHIGH VOLTAGE
When xenon headlights are on, they pro-
duce a high voltage. To prevent an electric
shock, never attempt to modify or disas-
semble. Always have your xenon head-
lights replaced by a certified service tech-
nician. For additional information, refer to
“Headlight and turn signal switch” in the
“Instruments and controls” section of this
manual.
FOG LIGHTS
Replacing the LED fog light bulb
If LED fog light bulb replacement is required, it is
recommended that you visit an INFINITI retailer
for this service.
