To defrost the rear window glass and outside
mirrors:
Start the engine and push the rear window de-
froster switch. The rear window defroster indica-
tor light on the display screen comes on. Push the
switch again to turn the defroster off.
The rear window defroster automatically turns off
after approximately 15 minutes.
CAUTION
When cleaning the inner side of the rear
window, be careful not to scratch or dam-
age the rear window defroster.
XENON HEADLIGHTS
WARNING
cHIGH VOLTAGE
●When xenon headlights are on, they
produce a high voltage. To prevent an
electric shock, never attempt to modify
or disassemble. Always have your xe-
non headlights replaced by a certified
service technician. It is recommended
you visit an INFINITI retailer for this
service.
● Xenon headlights provide considerably
more light than conventional head-
lights. If they are not correctly aimed,
they might temporarily blind an oncom-
ing driver or the driver ahead of you and
cause a serious accident. If headlights
are not aimed correctly, immediately
take your vehicle to a certified service
technician and have the headlights ad-
justed correctly.
When the xenon headlight is initially turned on, its
brightness or color varies slightly. However, the
color and brightness will soon stabilize. ●
The life of xenon headlights will be
shortened by frequent on-off opera-
tion. It is generally desirable not to turn
off the headlights for short intervals
(for example, when the vehicle stops at
a traffic signal) .
● If the xenon headlight bulb is close to
burning out, the brightness will drasti-
cally decrease, the light will start blink-
ing, or the color of the light will become
reddish. If one or more of the above
signs appear, it is recommended you
visit an INFINITI retailer.

CAUTION
Even though the battery saver feature au-
tomatically turns off the headlights after a
period of time, you should turn the head-
light switch to the OFF position when the
engine is not running to avoid discharging
the vehicle battery.
Automatic headlight aiming control (if
so equipped)
Your vehicle may be equipped with an automatic
headlight levelling system. The headlight axis is
controlled automatically.
INFINITI recommends that you consult the local
regulations on the use of lights.
For additional information, refer to “Xenon head-
light” in this section.
Manual headlight aiming control (if so
equipped)
Depending on the number of occupants in the
vehicle and the load it is carrying, the headlight
axis may be higher than desired. If the vehicle is
traveling on a hilly road, the headlights may di-
rectly hit the rearview mirror of the vehicle ahead
or the windshield of the oncoming vehicle. The
light axis can be lowered with the operation of the
switch.
The larger the number designated on the switch,
the lower the axis.
When traveling without a heavy load or on a flat
road, select position 0.
WARNING
Xenon headlights are extremely bright
compared to conventional headlights. If
the xenon headlights hit the rearview mir-
ror of the vehicle ahead or the windshield
of oncoming vehicle, the driver of these
vehicles may have difficulty driving be-
cause of the brightness. Use the headlight
aiming control switch to lower the light
axis. For additional information, refer to
“Xenon headlights” in this section.
DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT SYSTEM
The daytime running lights automatically illumi-
nate when the engine is started with the parking
brake released. The daytime running lights oper-
ate with the headlight switch in the OFF position
or in the
position. Turn the headlight switch
to the
position for full illumination when
driving at night.
If the parking brake is applied before the engine is
started, the daytime running lights do not illumi-
nate. The daytime running lights illuminate when
the parking brake is released. The daytime run-
ning lights will remain on until the ignition switch
is placed in the OFF position.

The front sonar system:● is active when the ignition switch is in the
ON position and the shift lever is in a forward
gear position.
● a beeping tone is emitted when the sensors
detect obstacles within 1.0 m (3 ft) of the
front bumper.
The rear sonar system: ● is active when the ignition is in the ON
position and the shift lever is in R (Reverse) .
● a beeping tone is emitted when the sensors
detect obstacles within 1.8 m (5.9 ft) of the
rear bumper.
The front and rear sonar system can be disabled
by pushing the OFF switch. When the system is
disabled, the indicator light on the switch will
illuminate. Push the switch again to enable the
system. The indicator light will go off.
The system will automatically reset the next time
the ignition switch is turned ON.

sonar system” in the “Starting and driving” sec-
tion of this manual. The warning systems switch is used to turn on
and off the Blind Spot Warning (BSW) system
that is activated using the settings menu on the
vehicle information display.
When the warning systems switch is turned off,
the indicator
1on the switch is off. The indicator
will also be off if the warning system is deacti-
vated using the settings menu. The BSW system will turn on the BSW/RCTA
indicator light, located next to the outside mirrors,
if the radar detects a vehicle in the detection
zone. If the turn signal is activated in the direction
of the detected vehicle, a chime sounds twice
and the BSW/RCTA indicator light will flash. For
additional information, refer to “Blind Spot Warn-
ing (BSW) system” in the “Starting and driving”
section of this manual.
