●Excessive noise will interfere with the
warning chime sound, and the chime
may not be heard.
The LDP system may or may not operate
properly under the following conditions:
● On roads where there are multiple par-
allel lane markers; lane markers that
are faded or not painted clearly; yellow
painted lane markers; non-standard
lane markers; or lane markers covered
with water, dirt, snow, etc.
● On roads where discontinued lane
markers are still detectable.
● On roads where there are sharp curves.
● On roads where there are sharply con-
trasting objects, such as shadows,
snow, water, wheel ruts, seams or lines
remaining after road repairs. (The LDP
system could detect these items as lane
markers.)
● On roads where the traveling lane
merges or separates.
● When the vehicle’s traveling direction
does not align with the lane marker. ●
When traveling close to the vehicle in
front of you, which obstructs the lane
camera unit detection range.
● When rain, snow or dirt adheres to the
windshield in front of the lane camera
unit.
● When the headlights are not bright due
to dirt on the lens or if the aiming is not
adjusted properly.
● When strong light enters the lane cam-
era unit. (For example, the light directly
shines on the front of the vehicle at
sunrise or sunset.)
● When a sudden change in brightness
occurs. (For example, when the vehicle
enters or exits a tunnel or under a
bridge.)
While the LDP system is operating, you may hear
a sound of brake operation. This is normal and
indicates that the LDP system is operating prop-
erly.SYSTEM TEMPORARILY
UNAVAILABLE
Condition A:
The warning and assist functions of the LDP
system are not designed to work under the fol-
lowing conditions:
● When you operate the lane change signal
and change the traveling lanes in the direc-
tion of the signal. (The LDP system will be
deactivated for approximately 2 seconds af-
ter the lane change signal is turned off.)
● When the vehicle speed lowers to less than
approximately 45 mph (70 km/h).
After the above conditions have finished and the
necessary operating conditions are satisfied, the
warning and assist functions will resume.
Condition B:
The assist function of the LDP system is not
designed to work under the following conditions
(warning is still functional): ● When the brake pedal is depressed.
● When the steering wheel is turned as far as
necessary for the vehicle to change lanes.
● When the vehicle is accelerated during LDP
system operation.

– When rain, snow or dirt adheres tothe windshield in front of a lane cam-
era unit.
– When the headlights are not bright due to dirt on the lens or if aiming is
not adjusted properly.
– When strong light enters a lane cam- era unit. (For example: light directly
shines on the front of the vehicle at
sunrise or sunset.)
– When a sudden change in brightness occurs. (For example: when the ve-
hicle enters or exits a tunnel or under
a bridge.)
● Do not use the BSI system under the
following conditions because the sys-
tem may not function properly.
– During bad weather (For example: rain, fog, snow, etc.)
– When driving on slippery roads, such as on ice or snow, etc.
– When driving on winding or uneven roads.
– When there is a lane closure due to road repairs.
– When driving in a makeshift lane. – When driving on roads where the
lane width is too narrow.
– When driving with a tire that is not within normal tire conditions (e.g.
tire wear, low tire pressure, installa-
tion of spare tire, tire chains, non-
standard wheels) .
– When the vehicle is equipped with non-original brake parts or suspen-
sion parts.
● Do not use the BSI systems when tow-
ing a trailer.
● Excessive noise (e.g. audio system vol-
ume, open vehicle window) will inter-
fere with the chime sound, and it may
not be heard.
BSI DRIVING SITUATIONS

zone from behind in an adjacent lane.
However, if the overtaking vehicle is traveling
much faster than your vehicle, the indicator light
may not illuminate before the detected vehicle is
beside your vehicle. Always use the side and rear
mirrors and turn and look in the direction your
vehicle will move to ensure it is safe to change
lanes.

SYSTEM OPERATION
The PFEB system operates when vehicle speed
is within the range of approximately 5 to 50 mph
(10 to 80 km/h).
(The system will not activate for a stationary ve-
hicle or a pedestrian when the vehicle is driven at
speeds faster than approximately 37 mph
(60 km/h).)
If a risk of a forward collision is detected, the
PFEB system will provide the first warning to the
driver by flashing the warning light, providing an
audible warning and applying partial braking.
If the driver’s collision avoidance operation is not
sufficient and the risk of collision is increased, the
system issues the second visual warning and
audible warning, and applies harder braking im-
mediately before the collision.
NOTE:
The vehicle’s stop lights come on when
braking is performed by the PFEB system.
Depending on vehicle speed and distance to the
vehicle ahead or pedestrian, as well as driving
and roadway conditions, the system may help the
driver avoid a forward collision or may help miti-
gate the consequences if a collision should one
be unavoidable.If the driver is handling the steering wheel, accel-
erating or braking, the PFEB system will function
later or will not function.
The automatic braking will cease under the fol-
lowing conditions:
● When the steering wheel is turned as far as
necessary to avoid a collision.
● When the accelerator pedal is depressed.
● When there is no longer a vehicle or a pe-
destrian detected ahead.
If the PFEB system has stopped the vehicle, the
vehicle will remain at a standstill for approximately
2 seconds before the brakes are released.
PFEB SYSTEM LIMITATIONS
WARNING
● The multi-sensing front camera unit
does not detect the following objects:
– Children and other people who are of short stature, animals, and
bicycles
– Pedestrians walking at night or in dark areas such as tunnels
– Oncoming vehicles – Crossing vehicles
– Vehicles parked diagonally
● The multi-sensing front camera unit
may not detect a vehicle or pedestrian
ahead in the following conditions:
– Visibility is poor because of bad weather conditions such as rain,
snow, fog, dust storms, sandstorms,
and snowstorms.
– Snow, sand or road spray from trav- eling vehicles.
– The windshield glass in front of the camera is covered with dirt, water
drops, ice, snow, etc.
– The windshield glass in front of the camera is fogged up.
– Strong light (for example, sunlight or high beams from oncoming vehicles)
enters from the front.
– The headlights did not illuminate during the nighttime or in a tunnel, or
the headlight lenses are extremely
dirty.
– Both tail lights of the vehicle ahead do not illuminate at night or inside a
tunnel.

Before attempting to jump start the vehicle, make
sure the fuel tank is not empty and the correct
starting procedure is followed. For additional in-
formation, refer to “Starting the INFINITI Direct
Response Hybrid System” in the “Starting and
driving” section of this manual. Do not drive the
vehicle on battery power only if the fuel tank is
empty. The Li-ion battery will become discharged
and the hybrid system will turn off.
CONFIRM BATTERY IS
DISCHARGED
Confirm the battery is discharged by pushing the
ignition switch to the ON position. Confirm the
instrument cluster or head lights come on at the
normal brightness levels or that other accesso-
ries such as the audio system come on. Push the
ignition switch to turn the hybrid system on.
If any of the following conditions occurs, the
12-volt battery might discharged:● The instrument cluster and/or headlights are
not normal brightness.
● Audio accessories cannot be turned on.
● The hybrid system does not become READY
to drive mode.
● The ignition switch cannot be placed in the
ON position. Check the following if you notice above condi-
tions:
1. Check that the 12-volt battery terminals are tight and clean. For additional information,
refer to “12-volt battery” in the “Maintenance
and do-it-yourself” section of this manual. If
the 12-volt battery terminals are loose, it is
recommended that you visit an INFINITI re-
tailer for this service.
2. If the 12-volt battery terminals are tight and clean, try to jump start the vehicle. For addi-
tional information, refer to “Jump starting” in
this section.
EMERGENCY START
When the hybrid system cannot be started, the
following procedure can be used if the hybrid
system and push-button ignition switch function
normally:
1. Put the transmission in P (Park) position.
2. Push the ignition switch to the ACC posi- tion.
3. Depress the brake pedal. 4. Push and hold the ignition switch for about
90 seconds. Even if the hybrid system starts
using this procedure, the system may be
malfunctioning. Do not continue to use this
emergency procedure to start the system.
Have the vehicle checked. It is recom-
mended that you visit an INFINITI retailer for
this service.
If the hybrid system still does not start, it is
recommended that you visit an INFINITI retailer
for this service.

When driving in areas using road salt or other
corrosive materials, check lubrication frequently.
Lights*Clean the headlights on a regular basis.
Make sure that the headlights, stop lights, tail
lights, turn signal lights, and other lights are all
operating properly and installed securely. Also
check headlight aim.
Road wheel nuts (lug nuts)* When checking
the tires, make sure no wheel nuts are missing,
and check for any loose wheel nuts. Tighten if
necessary.
Tire rotation* Tires should be rotated every
5,000 miles (8,000 km).
Tires* Check the pressure with a gauge often
and always prior to long distance trips. If neces-
sary, adjust the pressure in all tires, including the
spare, to the pressure specified. Check carefully
for damage, cuts or excessive wear.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
transmitter components Replace the TPMS
transmitter grommet seal, valve core and cap
when the tires are replaced due to wear or age.
Wheel alignment and balance If the vehicle
should pull to either side while driving on a
straight and level road, or if you detect uneven or
abnormal tire wear, there may be a need for wheel alignment. If the steering wheel or seat vibrates at
normal highway speeds, wheel balancing may be
needed.

refer to “Important Tire Safety Information”
(US) or “Tire Safety Information” (Canada) in
the Warranty Information Booklet.
Windshield Clean the windshield on a regular
basis. Check the windshield at least every six
months for cracks or other damage. Have a dam-
aged windshield repaired by a qualified repair
facility.
Windshield wiper blades* Check for cracks or
wear if they do not wipe properly.
Inside the vehicle
The maintenance items listed here should be
checked on a regular basis, such as when per-
forming periodic maintenance, cleaning the ve-
hicle, etc.
Additional information on the following
items with an “*” is found in this section.
Accelerator pedal Check the pedal for smooth
operation and make sure the pedal does not bind
or require uneven effort. Keep the floor mat away
from the pedal. Brake pedal
Check the pedal for smooth opera-
tion. If the brake pedal suddenly goes down fur-
ther than normal, the pedal feels spongy or the
vehicle seems to take longer to stop, have your
vehicle checked immediately. It is recommended
that you visit an INFINITI retailer for this service.
Keep the floor mat away from the pedal.
Brakes Check that the brakes do not pull the
vehicle to one side when applied.
Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)
P (Park) position mechanism On a fairly
steep hill check that your vehicle is held securely
with the shift lever in the P (Park) position without
applying any brakes.
Parking brake Check the parking brake opera-
tion regularly. The vehicle should be securely held
on a fairly steep hill with only the parking brake
applied. If the parking brake needs adjustment, it
is recommended that you visit an INFINITI retailer
for this service
Seats Check seat position controls such as seat
adjusters, seatback recliner, etc. to ensure they
operate smoothly and all latches lock securely in
every position. Check that the head restraints and
headrests move up and down smoothly and the
locks (if so equipped) hold securely in all latched
positions.

Replacing the xenon headlight bulb
If replacement is required, it is recommended that
you visit an INFINITI retailer for this service.
WARNING
cHIGH VOLTAGE
When xenon headlights are on, they pro-
duce a high voltage. To prevent an electric
shock, never attempt to modify or disas-
semble. Always have your xenon head-
lights replaced by a certified service tech-
nician. For additional information, refer to
“Headlight and turn signal switch” in the
“Instruments and controls” section of this
manual.
FOG LIGHTS
