CC losing the hood1. Before closing the hood, check the
following:
• All filler caps in engine compart- ment must be correctly installed.
• Gloves, rags or any other com- bustible material must be removed
from the engine compartment.
2. Return the support rod to its clip to prevent it from rattling.
3. Lower the hood halfway (lifted approximately 30cm from the
closed position) and push down to
securely lock in place. Then dou-
ble check to be sure the hood is
secure.
•
Before closing the hood, ensure
that all obstructions are
removed from the hood opening.
Closing the hood with an
obstruction present in the hood
opening may result in property
damage or severe personal
injury.
•
Do not leave gloves, rags or any
other combustible material in the
engine compartment. Doing so
may cause a heat-induced fire.
•
Do not move the vehicle with the
hood raised. The view will be
blocked and the hood could fall
or be damaged.
WARNING
Always double check to be surethat the hood is firmly latched
before driving away. Check there
is no hood open warning light or
message displayed on the instru-
ment cluster. Driving with the hood
opened may cause a total loss of
visibility, which might result in an
accident.

it clockwise until it “clicks” once.
This indicates that the cap is
securely tightened.
2. Close the fuel filler door (1) and push it lightly and make sure that it
is securely closed. Petrol is highly flammable and
explosive. Failure to follow these
guidelines may result in SERIOUS
INJURY or DEATH: •
Read and follow all warnings
posted at the gas station.

Before refueling, note the loca-
tion of the Emergency Petrol
Shut-Off, if available, at the gas
station.

Before touching the fuel nozzle,
you should eliminate the poten-
tial build-up of static electricity
by touching a metal part of the
vehicle, a safe distance away
from the fuel filler neck, nozzle,
or other gas source, with your
bare hand.
•
Do not use cellular phones while
refueling. Electric current and/or
electronic interference from cel-
lular phones can potentially
ignite fuel vapors and cause a
fire.
•
Do not get back into a vehicle
once you have begun refueling.
You can generate a build-up of
static electricity by touching, rub-
bing or sliding against any item or
fabric capable of producing static
electricity. Static electricity dis-
charge can ignite fuel vapors
causing a fire.

you should once again eliminate
potentially dangerous static elec-
tricity discharge by touching a
metal part of the vehicle, away
from the fuel filler neck, nozzle or
other petrol source, with your

When using an approved
portable fuel container, be sure
to place the container on the
ground prior to refueling. Static
electricity discharge from the
container can ignite fuel vapors
causing a fire. Once refueling
has begun, contact between
your bare hand and the vehicleshould be maintained until the
filling is complete.

Use only approved portable plastic
fuel containers designed to carry
and store petrol.

Make sure to refuel your vehicle
according to the "Fuel Requirements"
suggested in the foreword chapter.
Do not spill fuel on the exterior sur- faces of the vehicle. Any type of fuel
spilled on painted surfaces may
damage the paint.If the fuel filler cap requires replace-
ment, use only a genuine HYUNDAI
cap or the equivalent specified for
your vehicle. An incorrect fuel filler cap
can result in a serious malfunction of
the fuel system or emission control

When refueling, always move
the shift lever to the P (Park)
position (for Continuously
Variable Transaxle vehicle) or
first gear or R (Reverse) position
(for Manual Transaxle vehicle),
set the parking brake, and place
the ignition switch to the
LOCK/OFF position. Sparks
produced by electrical compo-
nents related to the engine can
ignite fuel vapors causing a fire.
•
Do not use matches or a lighter
and do not smoke or leave a lit
cigarette in your vehicle while at
a gas station, especially during
refueling.
•
Do not over-fill or top-off your
vehicle tank, which can cause
petrol spillage.

If a fire breaks out during refuel-
ing, leave the vicinity of the vehi-
cle, and immediately contact the
manager of the gas station and
then contact the local fire
department. Follow any safety
instructions they provide.
•
If pressurized fuel sprays out, it
can cover your clothes or skin
and thus subject you to the risk
of fire and burns. Always
remove the fuel cap carefully
and slowly. If the cap is venting
fuel or if you hear a hissing
sound, wait until the condition
stops before completely remov-
ing the cap.
•
Always check that the fuel cap is
installed securely to prevent fuel
spillage in the event of an acci-
dent.

Fuel Filter Warning Light(Diesel Engine)This warning light illuminates:• When water has accumulated

In this case, remove the water from
the fuel filter.

- Fuel Filter Warning Light
• When the Fuel Filter Warning Light illuminates, engine power (vehicle
speed & idle speed) may
decrease.
• If you keep driving with the warning light on, engine parts (injector,
common rail, high pressure fuel
pump) may be damaged. If this
occurs, we recommend that you
have the vehicle inspect ed by an
authorized HYUNDAI dealer as
soon as possible.

when installing ANY floor mat to

Ensure that the floor mats are
securely attached to the vehi-
cle's floor mat anchor(s) before

Do not use ANY floor mat that

Do not stack floor mats on top of
one another (e.g. all-weather
rubber mat on top of a carpeted
floor mat). Only a single floor
mat should be installed in each

load cargo on top of your vehicle.
Information
If the vehicle is equipped with a sun-
roof, be sure not to position cargo onto
the roof rack in such a way that it
could interfere with sunroof opera-
tion.
• When carrying cargo on the roof rack, take the necessary precau-tions to make sure the cargo does
not damage the roof of the vehicle.
• When carrying large objects on the roof rack, make sure they do not
exceed the overall roof length or

The following specification is the
maximum weight that can be
loaded onto the roof rack.
Distribute the load as evenly as
possible onto the roof rack and
secure the load firmly.

on the roof rack. Severe wind
updrafts, caused by passing vehi-
cles or natural causes, can cause
sudden upward pressure on items

cause the items to fall off the roof
rack and cause damage to your
vehicle or others around you.

To prevent damage or loss of
cargo whilst driving, check fre-
quently before or whilst driving to
