Introduction
Petrol engine
Unleaded
Your new vehicle is designed to use only
unleaded fuel having an Octane Rating
of RON (Research Octane Number) 91/
AKI (Anti-Knock Index) 87 or higher. (Do
not use methanol blended fuels.)
Your new vehicle is designed to obtain
maximum performance with UNLEADED
FUEL, as well as minimise exhaust emis-
sions and spark plug fouling.
Petrol containing ethanol
Ethanol [E-10], a mixture of petrol and
ethanol (also known as grain alcohol),
and petrol or ethanol containing
methanol (also known as wood alcohol)
are being marketed along with or instead
of leaded or unleaded petrol.
Do not use petrol containing more than
10% ethanol, and do not use petrol or
ethanol containing any methanol.Either
of these fuels may cause drivability prob-
lems and damage to the fuel system,
engine control system and emission con-
trol system.
Discontinue using ethanol of any kind if
driveability problems occur.
Vehicle damage or driveability problems
may not be covered by the manufactur-
er’s warranty if they result from the use
of:
1. Petrol containing more than 10%
ethanol.
2. Petrol or ethanol containing methanol.
3. Leaded fuel or leaded ethanol.
FUEL REQUIREMENTS
WARNING
• Do not "top off" after the nozzle
automatically shuts off when
refuelling.
• Always check that the fuel cap is
installed securely to prevent fuel
spillage in the event of an acci-
dent.
CAUTION
NEVER USE LEADED FUEL. The
use of leaded fuel is detrimental to
the catalytic converter and will
damage the engine control sys-
tem’s oxygen sensor and affect
emission control.
Never add any fuel system cleaning
agents to the fuel tank other than
what has been specified. (Consult
an authorised HYUNDAI dealer for
details.)
CAUTION
Never use ethanol which contains
methanol. Discontinue use of any
ethanol product which impairs dri-
veability.

Other fuels
Using fuels such as;
- Silicone (Si) contained fuel,
- MMT (Manganese, Mn) contained fuel,
- Ferrocene (Fe) contained fuel, and
- Other metallic additives contained
fuels,
may cause vehicle and engine damage
or cause plugging, misfiring, poor accel-
eration, engine stalling, catalyst melting,
abnormal corrosion, life cycle reduction,
etc.
Also, the Malfunction Indicator Lamp
(MIL) may illuminate.
✽ NOTICE
Damage to the fuel system or perform-
ance problem caused by the use of these
fuels may not be covered by your New
Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Use of MTBE
HYUNDAI recommends avoiding fuels
containing MTBE (Methyl Tertiary Butyl
Ether) over 15.0% vol. (Oxygen Content
2.7% weight) in your vehicle.
Fuel containing MTBE over 15.0% vol.
(Oxygen Content 2.7% weight) may
reduce vehicle performance and produce
vapour lock or hard starting.
Do not use methanol
Fuels containing methanol (wood alco-
hol) should not be used in your vehicle.
This type of fuel can reduce vehicle per-
formance and damage components of
the fuel system, engine control system
and emission control system.
Fuel Additives
HYUNDAI recommends that you use
unleaded petrol which has an Octane
Rating of RON (Research Octane
Number) 91 / AKI (Anti-Knock Index) 87
or higher.
For customers who do not use good
quality petrol including fuel additives reg-
ularly, and have problems starting or the
engine does not run smoothly, one bottle
of additives should be added to the fuel
tank at every 15,000km. Additives are
available from your authorised HYUNDAI
dealer along with information on how to
use them.
Operation in foreign countries
If you are going to drive your vehicle in
another country, be sure to:
• Observe all regulations regarding reg-
istration and insurance.
• Determine that acceptable fuel is avail-
able.
CAUTION
Your New Vehicle Limited Warranty
may not cover damage to the fuel
system and any performance prob-
lems that are caused by the use of
fuels containing methanol or fuels
containing MTBE (Methyl Tertiary
Butyl Ether) over 15.0% vol.
(Oxygen Content 2.7% weight.)

Features of your vehicle
Record your key number
The key code number is
stamped or printed on
the key code tag
attached to the key set.
Should you lose your
keys, we recommend that you contact an
authorised HYUNDAI dealer. Remove
the key code tag and store it in a safe
place. Also, record the key code number
and keep it in a safe and handy place, but
not in the vehicle.
Key operations
Used to start the engine, lock and unlock
the doors.
KEYS
WARNING
Use only HYUNDAI original parts
for the ignition key in your vehicle.
If an aftermarket key is used, the
ignition switch may not return to
ON after START. If this happens,
the starter will continue to operate
causing damage to the starter
motor and possible fire due to
excessive current in the wiring.
WARNING
- Ignition key (Smart key)
Leaving children unattended in a
vehicle with the ignition key (smart
key) is dangerous even if the key is
not in the ignition switch or the
ENGINE START/STOP button is in
the ACC or ON position. Children
copy adults and they could place
the key in the ignition switch or
press the ENGINE START/STOP
button. The ignition key (smart key)
would enable children to operate
power windows or other controls,
or even make the vehicle move,
which could result in serious bodi-
ly injury or even death. Never leave
the keys in your vehicle with unsu-
pervised children, when the Engine
is running.

Tachometer
The tachometer indicates the approximate number of engine revolutions per minute
(rpm).
Use the tachometer to select the correct shift points and to prevent lugging and/or
over-revving the engine.
When the door is open, or if the engine is not started within 1 minute, the tachometer
pointer may move slightly in ON position with the engine OFF. This movement is nor-
mal and will not affect the accuracy of the tachometer once the engine is running.
CAUTION
Do not operate the engine within
the tachometer's RED ZONE. This
may cause severe engine damage.

Daytime running light
(if equipped)
The Daytime Running Lights (DRL) can
make it easier for others to see the front
of your vehicle during the day. DRL can
be helpful in many different driving condi-
tions, and it is especially helpful after
dawn and before sunset.
The daytime running lights turn off when:
Type A
1. The parking light switch is ON.
2. The engine stops.
3. The parking brake is engaged.
Type B
1. The headlight switch is ON.
2. The front fog light switch is ON.
3. The engine stops.
Headlight levelling device
(if equipped)
Manual type
To adjust the headlight beam level
according to the number of passengers
and loading weight in the luggage area,
turn the beam levelling switch.
The higher the number of the switch
position, the lower the headlight beam
level. Always keep the headlight beam at
the proper levelling position, or head-
lights may dazzle other road users.Listed below are the examples of proper
switch settings. For loading conditions
other than those listed below, adjust the
switch position so that the beam level
may be the nearest as the condition
obtained according to the list.

WARNING- Driving under
the influence of alcohol or
drugs
Drinking and driving is dangerous.
Drink driving is the number one
contributor to the road death toll
each year. Even a small amount of
alcohol will affect your reflexes,
perceptions and judgment. Driving
whilst under the influence of drugs
is as dangerous or more dangerous
than driving drunk.
You are much more likely to have a
serious accident if you drink or
take drugs and drive.
If you are drinking or taking drugs,
don’t drive. Do not ride with a driv-
er who has been drinking or taking
drugs. Choose a designated driver
or call a taxi cab.
WARNING
• When you intend to park or stop
the vehicle with the engine on,
take care not to hold the engine
at high rpm for an extended
amount of time. It may overheat
the engine or exhaust system
and cause fire.
• When you make a sudden stop or
turn the steering wheel rapidly,
loose objects may drop on the
floor and it could interfere with
the operation of the foot pedals,
possibly causing an accident.
Keep all things in the vehicle
safely stored.
• Becoming distracted whilst driv-
ing may cause an accident. It is
the responsibility of the driver to
always drive safely.
