KEYS
KEYS
1)
A code number is stamped on the plate
attached to the key set; detach this
plate and store it in a safe place (not in
the vehicle) for use if you need to make
a replacement key (auxiliary key).
Also write down the code number and
keep it in a separate safe and
convenient place, but not in the vehicle.
If your key (auxiliary key) fig. 2 is lost,
consult Fiat Dealership and have your
code number ready (1 = auxiliary key /2
= transmitter/3 = key code number
plate).
IMPORTANT Always keep a spare key
in case one is lost. If a key is lost, go to
a Fiat Dealership as soon as possible.IMPORTANT The driver must carry the
key to ensure the system functions
properly.
KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM
This system uses the key buttons to
remotely lock and unlock the doors and
the boot lid, fuel-filler flap, and opens
the boot lid.
The system can start the engine without
having to take the key out of your purse
or pocket.
Note
The keyless entry system operation
may vary due to local conditions.
The keyless entry system is fully
operational (door/boot lid/fuel-filler flap
lock/unlock) when the ignition is
switched off. The system does not
operate if the ignition is switched to any
position other than off.
If the key does not operate when
pressing a button or the operational
range becomes too small, the battery
may be dead.
Battery life is about one year.
Replace the battery with a new one if
the
warning light (green) flashes in
the instrument cluster. Replacing the
battery about once a year is
recommended because the warning
light/indicator light may not illuminate or
flash depending on the rate of battery
depletion.
Additional keys can be obtained at
Fiat Dealership. Up to 6 keys can be
used with the keyless functions per
vehicle. Bring all keys to Fiat Dealership
when additional keys are required.

Disarming the system: the system is
disarmed when the ignition is switched
ON with the correct programmed key.
The
warning light illuminates for
about 3 seconds and then turns off.
If the engine does not start with the
correct key, and the
warning light
remains illuminated or flashing, try the
following:
make sure the key is within the
operational range for signal
transmission;
switch the ignition off, and then
restart the engine. If the engine does
not start after 3 or more tries, contact a
Fiat Dealership.
If the
warning light flashescontinuously while you are driving, do
not shut off the engine. Contact a Fiat
Dealership and have it checked. If the
engine is shut off while the warning light
is flashing, you will not be able to restart
it.
THEFT DETERRENT
SYSTEM
(where provided)
Intrusion sensor
(where provided)
The intrusion sensor fig. 6 uses
ultrasonic waves to detect movement
inside the vehicle and to raise an alert of
an intrusion into the vehicle.
The intrusion sensor detects certain
kinds of movement inside the vehicle,
however, it may also respond to
phenomenon outside the vehicle such
as vibrations, loud noise, wind, and air
currents.
In order for the intrusion sensor to
operate appropriately, be aware of the
following:
do not hang clothing or objects from
a head restraint;
return the sunvisors to their original
positions;
do not blind the intrusion sensor by
covering it or placing objects over it;
do not allow the intrusion sensor to
get soiled or wipe it with a liquid;
do not shock or cause an impact to
the intrusion sensor or the intrusion
sensor bezel;
do not install seats or seat covers
that are not FCA genuine products;
to prevent obstruction of intrusion
sensor, do not place objects or cargo
near the intrusion sensor that are higher

WARNING
7)Always take all children and pets with
you or leave a responsible person with
them: leaving a child or a pet unattended in
a parked vehicle is dangerous. In hot
weather, temperatures inside a vehicle can
become high enough to cause brain
damage or even death.
8)Do not leave the key in your vehicle with
children and keep them in a place where
your children will not find or play with them:
leaving children in a vehicle with the key is
dangerous. This could result in someone
being badly injured or even killed.
9)Always close both the windows and
convertible top, lock the doors and take the
key with you when leaving your vehicle
unattended: leaving your vehicle unlocked
is dangerous as children could lock
themselves in a hot vehicle, which could
result in death. Also, a vehicle left unlocked
becomes an easy target for thieves and
intruders.

IN CASE OF EMERGENCY
HAZARD WARNING
LIGHTS
CONTROL
Press button fig. 101 to switch the
lights on/off.
Depress the hazard warning flasher and
all the direction indicators will flash. The
hazard warning indicator light
and
in the instrument cluster flash
simultaneously.
EMERGENCY STOP
SIGNAL SYSTEM
The system turns off when it determines
that the brake pedal is released or that
an emergency braking situation no
longer exists based on the reduced
vehicle speed.
If the system determines that such a
situation is occurring, it flashes all thedirection indicators rapidly to caution
the driver of the vehicle following behind
your vehicle of the sudden braking
situation.
This system is designed to determine
whether you are depressing the brake
pedal with greater force than during
normal braking such as in a situation
requiring emergency braking.
If you bring your vehicle to a complete
stop while all the direction indicators are
flashing rapidly, the rapid flashing of all
the direction indicators changes back
to the normal flashing pattern.
The emergency stop signal system
does not operate at vehicle speeds
under about 60 km/h.
If the brake pedal is depressed while
driving on slippery roads, the
emergency stop signal system could
operate causing all the direction and
lane change indicators to flash.
REPLACING A BULB
GENERAL
INSTRUCTIONS
160) 161) 162) 163)
30) 31)
Before replacing a bulb check the
contacts for oxidation;
replace blown bulbs with others of
the same type and power;
after replacing a headlight bulb,
always check its alignment;
to replace the bulb, contact a Fiat
Dealership;
use the protective cover and carton
for the replacement bulb to dispose of
the old bulb promptly and out of the
reach of children;
when a light is not working, check
that the corresponding fuse is intact
before replacing the bulb. For the
location of fuses, refer to the paragraph
“If a fuse blows” in this chapter.
IMPORTANT When removing the lens
or light unit using a flathead
screwdriver, make sure that the flathead
screwdriver does not contact the
interior terminal. If the flathead
screwdriver contacts the terminal, a
short circuit may occur.
