Fluid And Filter Changes
Under normal operating conditions, the fluid installed at
the factory will provide satisfactory lubrication for the
life of the vehicle.
Routine fluid and filter changes are not required. How-
ever, change the fluid and filter if the fluid becomes
contaminated (with water, etc.), or if the transmission is
disassembled for any reason.
Rear Axle
Fluid Level Check
Checking the fluid level while the vehicle is on level
ground and has been stationary for 15 minutes will
improve the accuracy of the fluid level reading.
Check the fluid level by removing the fill plug on the
axle. The fluid level should be 1-2.5 mm below the fill
plug. Add fluid, if necessary, to maintain the proper level.Refer to “Fluids, Lubricants, And Genuine Parts” in
“Maintaining Your Vehicle” for further information.
Change Axle Fluid
Refer to the “Maintenance Schedule” for the proper
maintenance intervals.
Appearance Care And Protection From Corrosion
Protection Of Body And Paint From Corrosion
Vehicle body care requirements vary according to geo-
graphic locations and usage. Chemicals that make roads
passable in snow and ice, and chemicals that are sprayed
on trees and road surfaces during other seasons, are
highly corrosive to the metal in your vehicle. Outside
parking, which exposes your vehicle to airborne contami-
nants, road surfaces on which the vehicle is operated,
extreme hot or cold weather and other extreme condi-
tions will have an adverse effect on paint, metal trim, and
underbody protection.

BULB REPLACEMENT
NOTE:Lens fogging can occur under certain atmo-
spheric conditions. This will usually clear as atmospheric
conditions change to allow the condensation to change
back into a vapor. Turning the lamps on will usually
accelerate the clearing process.
Low Beam Headlamp, High Beam Headlamp,
Park/Turn Lamp — Models With Halogen
Headlamps — If Equipped
To replace the passenger side lamps:
1. Open the hood.
2. Remove the headlamp cover.
3. Reach behind the passenger headlamp assembly.
NOTE: The park/turn lamps can also be accessed at this
point. 4. Turn the headlamp access cap counterclockwise to
remove.
5. Remove bulb by turning it counter clockwise and disconnect.
6. Install new bulb by turning it clockwise and reconnect.
7. Reinstall headlamp access cap by turning it clockwise and then reinstall headlamp cover.
To replace the driver side lamps:
1. Open the hood.
2. Remove the air cleaner filter cover by removing three fasteners and loosening the clean air inlet clamp and
then rotate cover off to the side.
NOTE: The cover has an electrical connector that does
not need to be disconnected if the cover is rotated off to
the side.
