Starting the engine
The presence of the "Keyless Entry and Starting" electronic key in the recognition zone

It
is not necessary to place the electronic key in

he back-up reader.
If
the electronic key is not detected,
a
message is displayed. Move the

lectronic key into the recognition zone
s
o that the engine can be started.
In
the event of a problem, see "Key not

If one of the starting conditions is not met, a reminder message appears in the i
nstrument panel screen.

As a safety measure, never leave the vehicle while the engine is running.
The
steering
column
unlocks

Hill start assist
System which keeps your vehicle immobilised temporarily (approximately 2 seconds) when
m
oving off on a gradient, the time it takes to
m
ove your foot from the brake pedal to the
a
ccelerator

al.
This
system only operates when:

he vehicle is completely stationary, with
y
our foot on the brake pedal,

ertain conditions of slope are met,
-
w
ith the driver’s door closed.
The
hill start assist system cannot be
d
eactivated. On an ascending slope, with the vehicle
stationary, the vehicle is held momentarily
when you release the brake pedal:

rovided you are in first gear or neutral with
a
manual gearbox,
-
p
rovided you are in position D or M with an
automatic
gearbox.Operation
On a descending slope, with the vehicle
stationary and reverse gear engaged, the
vehicle is held momentarily when you
release the brake pedal.
Operating fault
If a fault in the system occurs, these warning lamps come on, accompanied by an alert

essage. Contact a CITROËN dealer or

qualified workshop to have the system

hecked.

Before switching off the engine, you can change to position P or N to be in neutral.

witching off the ignition there is an audible

Operating fault
Whenever parking, you must apply the parking brake to immobilise the vehicle, if automatic

peration has been deactivated.
Parking the vehicle
In all circumstances, ensure that the gear selector is in position P before
leaving
your vehicle. In the event of a fault with the
gearbox,
the service warning lamp
c
omes on in the instrument panel,
a
ccompanied by a message and an

udible

ignal.
In this case the gearbox goes into back-up
m
ode and stays in 3
rd gear. You may then feel a n
oticeable
jolt
when
going from P to R and from
N
to R .
This
jolt
does
not present any risk to the

earbox.
Do
not
exceed
60
mph (100 km/h) while also
o
bserving
legal
speed limits.
Have
it
checked
by
a

In the event of a battery failure, use the

immobilise

vehicle.

the event of a fault in STOP mode, the vehicle

of the instrument panel warning lamps come on.
Depending on version, an alert message may also be displayed, asking you to place the gear

elector lever at position N and put your foot on

he brake pedal.
It is then necessary to switch off the ignition and start the engine again using the "START/STOP" b
utton.
In the event of a fault with the system, this indicator lamp flashes for a few m

Opening the bonnet
Before
doing
anything
under

onnet,
deactivate

through
a
flooded
road,

is

recommended

Operating fault
As a safety measure, do not use the system if the brake lamps are faulty.
Do
not use the system if the front bumper is
d
amaged. In the event of a fault with the cruise
control,
you are alerted by the
i
llumination of this warning lamp
a
nd the display of a message in the
i
nstrument panel, accompanied by an
a
udible
s
ignal.
The
cruise
control
operates
by
day
and
at
n
ight,
in
fog
or
moderate
rainfall.
However,
it
is
strongly
recommended
that
y
ou
always
keep
a
safe
distance
from
v
ehicles
ahead,
according
to
the
driving
c
onditions,
the
weather
and
the
road
s
ur face.
Use the cruise control only where the
driving
conditions
allow
running
at
a
c
onstant
speed
and
at
an
adequate
safe
di
stance.
Do not use the cruise control in urban
areas,
heavy
traffic,
on
winding
or
steep
r
oads
or
on
slippery
or
flooded
sur faces.
In
certain
circumstances,
it
may
not
b
e
possible
for
the
speed
setting
to
be
m
aintained
or
even
attained:
loaded
v
ehicle,
ascending
a
steep
hill, ... The
system
is
not
intended
for
driving
in
the
fo
llowing
s
ituations:

he
front
end
of
the
vehicle
has
been
m
odified
(addition
of
driving
lamps),
-

riving
on
a
racing
circuit,

unning
on
a
rolling
road,
-

se
of
snow
chains
or
non-slip
covers.
Have the system checked by a CITROËN

ealer or a qualified workshop.
The
operation
of
the
radar,
located
in
t
he
front
bumper,
may
be
disturbed
by
a
ccumulations
of
grime
(dust,
mud...)
or
in
c
ertain
weather
conditions
(snow,
ice...).
The
message
"SYSTEM
INACTIVE:
V
isibility
reduced"
is
displayed
to
signal
that
t
he
system
has
been
put
into
standby.
Clean
the
front
bumper
regularly.
The
use
of
mats
not
approved
by
CITROËN
m
ay
inter fere
with
the
operation
of
the
c
ruise
control.
To
avoid
any
risk
of
jamming
the
pedals:

nsure
that
mats
are
secured
correctly,
-

ever
fit
one
mat
on
top
of
another.
