Immediately after inflation,
several front airbag system
components will be hot. Do
not touch them; you may
severely burn yourself. .
No unauthorized changes
should be made to any

inflation of the supplemental
airbag or damage to the
supplemental airbag system. .
Do not make unauthorized
changes to your vehicle ’ s
electrical system, suspension
system, or front end

Tampering with the front
airbag system may result in
serious personal injury.
Tampering includes changes
to the steering wheel and the
instrument panel assembly by
placing material over the
steering wheel pad and
above the instrument panel,
or by installing additional trim
material around the airbag
system. .
Removing or modifying the
front passenger seat may
affect the function of the
airbag and result in serious
personal injury. .
Modifying or tampering with
the front passenger seat may
result personal injury. For

durability might not change your
weight ratings. Ask your dealer
to help you load your vehicle the
right way.
If you put things inside your
vehicle – like suitcases, tools,
packages, or anything else –
they will go as fast as the
vehicle goes. If you have to stop
or turn quickly, or if there is a
crash, they will keep going.

Things inside the vehicle can
strike and injure people in a
sudden stop or turn, or in a
crash. .
Put things in the cargo
area of the vehicle. In the
cargo area, put them as

far forward as possible.
Try to spread the weight
evenly. .
Never stack heavier
things, like suitcases,
inside the vehicle so that
some of them are above
the tops of the seats. .
Do not leave an
unsecured child restraint
in the vehicle. .
Secure loose items in the

Do not leave a seat folded
down unless needed.
Also, check the tires for proper
inflation pressure. Refer to the Tire

Operating New Vehicle Break-In
{ CautionThe vehicle does not need an
elaborate break-in. But it will
perform better in the long run if
you follow these guidelines for the
first 2 000 km (1,200 mi): .
Do not drive at any one
constant speed, fast or slow. .
Avoid quick starts. Avoid
accelerating at full-throttle in
any gear. Do not exceed
4000 rpm. .
Avoid downshifting to brake
or slow the vehicle. .
Avoid making hard stops.
During this time the new
brake linings are not yet
broken in. Hard stops with

pulsation in the brake pedal may be
felt. This is normal and is not an
indication of a malfunction.

vehicle performance. See

The Traction Control System
(TCS) and Electronic Stability
Control (ESC) system are
designed to help the driver
maintain stability but do not
prevent accidents due to
abrupt steering operation at
high speeds or by careless or
dangerous driving
techniques. Reduce vehicle
speed and be especially
careful when driving and
cornering on slippery
surfaces and always drive
carefully.

Do not modify the vehicle ’ s
suspension. If suspension
parts such as shock
absorbers, struts, springs,
stabilizer bars, bushings, and
wheels are not recommended
for your vehicle or are
extremely deteriorated, the
TCS and ESC systems may
not operate properly. This
could adversely affect vehicle
handling performance, and
the
d indicator may flash or
the
d indicator light may
illuminate. .
If brake related parts such as
brake pads, rotors, and
calipers are not
recommended or are
extremely deteriorated, the
TCS and ESC systems may

d indicator light may
illuminate. .
If engine control related parts
are not recommended or are
extremely deteriorated, the
d indicator light may illuminate. .
When driving on extremely
inclined surfaces such as
higher banked corners, the
TCS and ESC systems may
not operate properly and the
d indicator may flash or the
d indicator light may
illuminate. Do not drive on
these types of roads. .
When driving on an unstable
surface such as a turntable,
ferry, elevator, or ramp, the
d indicator may flash or the
d indicator light may illuminate.

same load-carrying capacity,
diameter, width, offset, and be
mounted the same way as the one it
replaces.
Replace wheels, wheel bolts, wheel
nuts, or Tire Pressure Monitor
System (TPMS) sensors with new
GM original equipment parts.
{ WarningUsing the wrong replacement
wheels, wheel bolts, or wheel
nuts can be dangerous. It could
affect the braking and handling of
the vehicle. Tires can lose air,
and cause loss of control, causing
a crash. Always use the correct
wheel, wheel bolts, and wheel
nuts for replacement. { CautionThe wrong wheel can also cause
problems with bearing life, brake
cooling, speedometer or
odometer calibration, headlamp
aim, bumper height, vehicle
ground clearance, and tire or tire
chain clearance to the body and
chassis.
Used Replacement Wheels
{ Warning
Replacing a wheel with a used
one is dangerous. How it has
been used or how far it has been
driven may be unknown. It could
fail suddenly and cause a crash.
When replacing wheels, use a
new GM original equipment
wheel. Tire Chains
{ WarningDo not use tire chains. There is
not enough clearance. Tire chains
used on a vehicle without the
proper amount of clearance can
cause damage to the brakes,
suspension, or other vehicle
parts. The area damaged by the
tire chains could cause loss of
control and a crash.
Use another type of traction
device only if its manufacturer
recommends it for the vehicle's
tire size combination and road
conditions. Follow that
manufacturer's instructions. To
avoid vehicle damage, drive slow
and readjust or remove the
traction device if it contacts the
vehicle. Do not spin the wheels.
If traction devices are used, install
them on the front tires.

Vehicle Care 10-65Brake System Visually inspect brake lines and
hoses for proper hook-up, binding,
leaks, cracks, chafing, etc. Inspect
disc brake pads for wear and rotors
for surface condition. Inspect drum
brake linings/shoes for wear or
cracks. Inspect other brake parts,
including drums, wheel cylinders,
calipers, parking brake, master
cylinder, brake fluid reservoir,
vacuum pipes, electric vacuum
pump including bracket and vent
hose, if equipped.
Steering, Suspension, and
Chassis Components Visually inspect steering,
suspension, and chassis
components for damaged, loose,
or missing parts or signs of wear at
least once a year.
Inspect power steering for proper
hook-up, binding, leaks, cracks,
chafing, etc.
Visually check constant velocity joint
boots and axle seals for leaks. Body Component Lubrication Lubricate all key lock cylinders,
hood hinges, liftgate hinges, steel
fuel door hinge, unless the
components are plastic. Applying
silicone grease on weatherstrips
with a clean cloth will make them
last longer, seal better, and not stick
or squeak.
Underbody Maintenance At least twice a year, spring and fall
use plain water to flush any
corrosive materials from the
underbody. Take care to thoroughly
clean any areas where mud and
other debris can collect.
Sheet Metal Damage If the vehicle is damaged and
requires sheet metal repair or
replacement, make sure the body
repair shop applies anti-corrosion
material to parts repaired or
replaced to restore corrosion
protection. Original manufacturer replacement
parts will provide the corrosion
protection while maintaining the
vehicle warranty.
Finish Damage Quickly repair minor chips and
scratches with touch-up materials
available from your dealer to avoid
corrosion. Larger areas of finish
damage can be corrected in your
dealer's body and paint shop.
Chemical Paint Spotting Airborne pollutants can fall upon
and attack painted vehicle surfaces
causing blotchy, ring-shaped
discolorations, and small, irregular
dark spots etched into the paint
surface. See “ Finish Care ”
previously in this section.
Interior Care To prevent dirt particle abrasions,
regularly clean the vehicle's interior.
Immediately remove any soils. Note
that newspapers or dark garments
that can transfer color to home

obligated to have the vehicle
repaired with Genuine GM parts,

company is paying for the repairs,
you are not obligated to accept a
repair valuation based on that
insurance company's collision policy
repair limits, as you have no
contractual limits with that company.
In such cases, you can have control
of the repair and parts choices as
long as the cost stays within
